Naproxen Generic For Vicodin

I'm researching pain meds for my knee pain after a replacement. ## Naproxen is an nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory. Naproxen is the generic name for Aleve, The difference is that Aleve is OTC because it is only 220 mg and Naproxen is prescription because it is 500 mg. Vicodin is a combination of hydrocodone and tylenol. Hydrocodone is a narcotic and can be addicting. You must have a prescription to get Vicodin. ## @original post, No, Naproxen is not stronger than Vicodin. Although it could probably compare to the acetaminophen in Vicodin, the hydrocodone is still a far more potent pain reliever in and of itself. If you're unsure of which medication to take for pain relief, I think it would be wise to ask your doctor/surgeon for their opinion on what might be most appropriate for y...

I've seen Naproxen and have been told Vicodin has this imprint as well. Are Naproxen and Vicodin the same? ## Naproxen and Vicodin are two very different pain medications. To my understanding, the similarities found in the imprint are just a sign that they had been manufactured or redistributed by the same company (Amneal Pharmaceuticals). The IP 190 500 tablet contains Naproxen 500mg (NDC 65162-0190); a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. Ref: DailyMed The IP 109 tablet contains Vicodin (Acetaminophen 325mg + Hydrocodone 5mg); which is a combination of two types of pain medicine - Hydrocodone being an opiate narcotic pain reliever. (NDC 53746-109): Ref: DailyMed Hope this helps! ## You are probably confused because the markings are similar. Generic Norco 5/325mg (Hydrocodone/a...

Hey guys, the IP 109 / 500 is naproxen. But if you have an oblong pill with IP 109 and a line on the back I think it's Vicodin 5mg. Personally I think they look way too much alike. Always check. ## Hello, Kristin! How are you? Thank you for your helpful post! I'd just like to add some clarification to avoid confusion that may be caused by the typo… The 500mg Naproxen tablet has the marking IP 190 on one side and 500 on the other. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. The generic for Vicodin has the IP 109 on one side. The FDA classifies it as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and...

white, oblong, one side says 537 and the other says 93 ## Sounds quite a bit like the generic brand Vicodin I was prescribed for dental work. ## Nope, this is NOT a narcotic of any kind. Pill Image Click Here This is nothing more than the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory Naproxen Sodium, 550mgs, so a prescription strength of it, but it is the same active med that you get in a lower dose in Aleve over the counter. There aren't any proprietary guidelines in the pharmaceutical industry regarding the shape, color, size, or etc. of pills. How they look, how they are shaped, their size and etc. are entirely up to the whit and whim of the manufacturer. The only way to tell for sure what something is, would be to look up the imprint code, all prescription drugs sold legally in the US are requir...

I have a small light tan oblong pill. On one side it has 149 and the other side has 93, what is it? Is this a generic vicodin? ## This is not Vicodin. It is most likely Naproxen 500 mg (NDC 0615-3563, among others), although the color is reportedly more of a light reddish. Naproxen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug commonly used for the reduction of moderate to severe pain, fever, inflammation and stiffness. Inactive Ingredients: - Corn Starch - Croscarmellose Sodium - Magnesium Stearate - Povidones - Ferric Oxide Red - Ferric Oxide Yellow Ref: DailyMed

IP 190 with a divided line on the back of the pill is hydrocodone 5mg with 500mg acetaminophen. Definitely similar to the naproxen IP 190 with 500 on the other side. ## The tablet with the IP 190 500 marking is 500mgs of Naproxen, which is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory. The other tablet has the marking of IP 109 and it is a generic for Vicodin that contains 5mgs of Hydrocodone and 325mgs of Acetaminophen. The two different imprints have been confused here on other threads.
