I take Levothyroxin 100 mcg and replaced by Thyronorm 100 mg. is this comprable dosage and same effect? ## 1000 micrograms (mcg)= 1 milligram (mg) 100 mcg= .1 mg Since thyronorm and levothyroxine are one in the same medication (just different brand names), it becomes clear to me that levothyroxine 100mcg is a significantly smaller dose than thyronorm 100mg. That said, you will probably notice the difference in strength when switching to thyronorm. However I certainly wouldn't be able to tell you how this will effect you in comparison to your previous dosage, as everyone reacts to these medications differently. i was perscribed 50,000 iu of iron one day a week pill. How much is this in mg? The perscription is for 5 months. ## Hi Faye, I find that really odd that your doctor said 50,000 IU, as Iron is not measured in international units, but rather milligrams or mcg. Generally, international units are used to measure "vitamins" such as A, C, E, D, etc...and not used for "minerals" such as iron. 1 IU vitamin A = 0.3 mcg (micrograms) 1 IU vitamin D = 0.025 mcg 1 IU vitamin E = 0.7 mcg as d-alpha tocopherol The translation from IU to micograms or milligrams is different for every vitamin; and as far as I know there is no converting measurement for Iron to go from mcg or mg to IU; or vise versa. Does anyone else have any information to share regarding this?

I ran out of synthroid. It shows 0.1MG. I got a temporary bottle that shows 100MCG. Are they the same? ## Hi Lucille, Conversion tools verify that 100mcg (micrograms) is actually equal to 0.1mg (milligrams), so you should have nothing to worry about as far as taking the correct dosage is concerned. If you were given the temporary bottle by another pharmacy, that could explain why they used a different measurement than you were used to seeing. IU's measure the potency of a drug, not its mass or weight. You can only measure between MG and MCG. 1000 micrograms (mcg) = 1 milligram (mg); so 400 mcg will be equal to just 4 mg Folic acid 400 mcg does equal 100 percent daily value for this nutrient. NOTE: If you can determine what percent daily value 400 iu of folic acid is, then you can essentially compare mcg vs iu. My pain Dr.had me on 30mg. of morphine sulfate 3 times per day & switched me to 50 mcg. I want to know what is in fentanyl patch mine are only 12 mg? ## Hello, Jude! How are you? Fentanyl is exactly what's in them, the FDA classifies it as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. And the dose is actually in micrograms, because it is very potent. 12mgs of it would most likely kill someone. Is there anything else I can help with?

is 0.15 ug/ml lower than 0.05mg/l ## From what I've read, ug and mcg are both symbols for 'micrograms'. The correct symbol for microgram is actually µg. However, there is really no way of typing that on a keyboard, so it seems as though they came up with other versions, two of which are ug and mcg. The conversion below indicates that 0.15 mcg is much lower than 0.05 mg... Lol The difference of mcg vs mg is the measurement of each. MCG is the abbreviation of micrograms. MG is the abbreviation of milligram. You would need 1000 micrograms to make up 1 milligram. Hello, I have been prescribed 2.5 mg respimat by my Dr but I was in hosp recently for hiatus hernia and forgot my respimat so they gave me another one which was the handihaler variety so took that. But what is right one to take I am going back to my Dr. Any views/comments welcome?
