Hello, everyone! I've heard stories about how some people stay on methadone 4 many years 2 life. Does anyone know if this is true? I've been on subs 4 almost 8 years. And, i was addicted 2 Oxy. I cant take subutex of any form because I'm allergic to it, and I was on methadone for the four yrs about. But both the doctors are retired. I have pain and addiction to opiates. After being on 90 mg of methadone for about 5 years (and suboxone before that), the doctor i was seeing left the practice for better pay. I ended up with a nurse who decided I no longer needed the methadone and she sent me to a pain clinic to be taken off if. The new doctor seems to think 10 mg a week is safe to drop me. I'm down to 25 mg and feel like hell. Everyone says he's going too fast but no one will help either take me off them safely or talk to him. At one point, my oxy use got to the point where I was using 100+mg daily. I have been on suboxone for 4 years now for alcohol and methadone abuse and during that time I found out I have three buldging disc in my neck and osteoarthritis however my doctor still is weaning me off. My son and daughter inlaw are on methadone and they both are on medicaid.
