I have been taking blood thiners for the past 4 days now. Ever since I have been taking the blood thiner blood comes out in my urine. Does the blood thiner cause this to happen? And if so, why? ## From what I've read, if you can see blood in your urine, you should probably get an evaluation as soon as possible. At least to make sure that there's nothing serious taking place. Common drugs that may cause visible urinary blood include, but are not limited to: Blood thinning medications (such as aspirin, warfarin, or heparin), penicillin, and the anti-cancer drug cyclophosphamide (Cytoxan). Does anyone happen to know why blood thinners cause this, or Is it simply a matter of blood viscosity?

I had to be taken off coumadin blood thiner, and was put on 2 daily shots of lovenox because I am going in for surgery on 6/16/08, the sots are becoming very unconfortable; and I was wondering if there is an alternative. My sister has asthma, blood clots in her legs, and some lung situation think it's called odt. She is taking blood thiners, and just gave birth (c-section) and got her tubes tied on the 14th. Now shes having trouble breathing on her own. She's utilizing a breathing machine. I'm curious about specific protocall, normal procadures, for getting off blood thiners like heparin, warfarin,& coumarin. Also what about discontinued abruptly? Thanks!
