This morning when I meant to take my third blue pill in the pack, it was i couldn't see so I accidentally had my pack upside down and instead took the second white pill that i should take at the end of the pack. When i realized what i did i took the correct blue pill immediately, but now i will only have one white pill when the time comes to take it at the end of the month. Is it okay to take only one white pill and then have three days of placebo, one where i just don't take any pill? Or is it okay to skip the last 4 pills altogether and just start my new pack right after my last blue one? Which option will not decrease the effectiveness of the pill? ## Hello, Anna! How are you? Sorry about what happened. If your doctor approves, you should be able to do whichever option works ...

Last month I took all the blue pills but I skipped the white and brown pills. I know the 2 brown pills are just iron pills but is it bad that I skipped the white ones too? ## Hello, Kate! How are you? No, the white ones have no active ingredients in them, whatsoever, so it doesn't matter if you skip them. Is there anything else I can help with? ## The other response is wrong! I just started this pill and was confused myself. The patient insert does indicate that the white pills have estrogen! I didn't take them either! But will from now on! I wish my doctor had told me...I'm so used to the white pills being inactive! ## The white pills have *estrogen* in them. What they are missing is the progestin. Without progestin, your body starts having a period. That's why it's...

I started my pack on a Tuesday and now Im at the end of my pack on the second white pill and it's Saturday. I'd like to start my second pack on Sunday to avoid future confusion. Is it okay to skip the brown pills? I've heard they're iron pills but can cause extra spotting if missed. If so can I take the two brown pills with two blue pills this next Sunday and Monday? ## Hi Adriana! The best thing 2 do is take the pills as prescribed. I wouldn't go messing with the way u r suppose 2 take them. U don't want 2 take any chances. ## @Adriana, Regarding your question about skipping the brown pills - I don't know who manufactures your loestrin fe, but according to the patient prescribing info from Actavis, "if you were to 'forget' either of the 2 brown (...

I missed one white pill. So I took it at the same time I took my other white pill. Was that right? ## Hello, Miy! How are you? You should take it as soon as you remember and, if you don't remember until it's time to take your next one, then take them both at the same time. But please remember, every missed pill increases your risk of pregnancy. Is there anything else I can help with? ## So I'm in my first week of my pill packet. I've been taking the pill for a couple months now, straight. I haven't missed a day. Today I accidentally took a white pill instead of one of my blue ones. I always take it in the morning and it was dark, I was still half asleep and wasn't looking at what I was doing.... Lesson learned. But anyway, I just noticed my screw up tonight and t...

Missed taking my second white pill for the day, can I take it at night even though my scheduled time is in the afternoon or can I take it tomorrow along with my first brown placebo pill ## Hello, Courtney! How are you? Yes, that should be fine. But why are you taking 2 a day? Oral contraceptives as usually just dosed as one tablet daily, except in very rare cases to stop heavy bleeding, as emergency contraception and etc. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, breakthrough bleeding and PMS-like symptoms. birth control ## How do I take Loestrin24 fe? ## Take it exactly as prescribed by your doctor, if they did not provide you with enough details, then please speak with your pharmacist. ## how long does it take for loestrin24fe to work, like how long do I have to wait before I can safely have intercourse? ## Generally, you should finish the entire first cycle, before enough is in your system to adequately protect against pregnancy, once you reach the end of the pill pack, where you on the period week pills, then you are fully protected, but be careful not to miss any. I'm on the forth week of my bc pack. Already finished with the blue pills. I missed my first white pill but took it the next day with my other white pill at the same time. And today I start my brown placebo pills. I also had intercourse the day I took both white pills. Am I protected? Or should I take plan b? ## Hello, Mackenzie! How are you? Plan B is only effective in the first 5 days, after intercourse, so it wouldn't do any good to take it now. It's most effective in the first 24 hours, retains most efficacy for 72 hours, then its effectiveness at preventing pregnancy dwindles and after day 5, it does nothing. Did you start your period? The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, breakthro...

I'm a little confued. I got my period on a Friday Jan 1, 2016 and started the pack on the first friday of the pack. Should i have done that or just started on the first sunday of the pack? I'm entering into the third week of the pack, therefore should I finish the blue pills of the first week before taking the white pills. Today is Jan 16, 2016 and I'm not scheduled to get my period unto Feb 1 or Jan 31. I think the answer is yes on the blue pills. I though the day yiu got your period and the day you take the blue pill had to match, but I don't think that is the case. Also, if get my period on a day I'm supposed to take the white or brown pills do I take the white or brown pill and a blue pill or just the first blue pill of the next pack? Let me know, please. Ive been on a low dose version of lo loestrin for a while now. My Gyn prescribed them to me after my laparoscopy back in December of 2012 to prevent endometriosis from coming back. I take it at 6pm every day but sometimes I miss my dose by 2 or 3 hours and like once or twice a month I'll forget to take it until the next day. I always get my period on the second row of blue pills and it'll last a week or sometimes a few days more. I never get my period during the white and brown pills like im suppose to. Infact when I get to the white and brown it usually ends my period. What worries me is this month I got my period twice once at the beginning of the month and now im on it again. Would skipping straight to the brown and white pills end it? Or should I talk to my Gyn about it firs...

Well crap. I missed the last white pill. The brown are placebos so im bot worried. Im on my period now, so Im not preg (yay!)... but should I start the next pack now, or two (brown pill) days from now? ## Hello, Sara! How are you? You should start the new pack on the normal day, unless your doctor instructs you otherwise. That late in your cycle, the chances of it having allowed ovulation to occur are very slim, but you should use backup protection for the first 7 days of the new pack, just to be safe. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hi...I'm new to bc...should I expect my period the week I'm schedule to take to white and brown pills? ## Hi guys, I've been taking Lo Loestrin Fe for about 3 months. I started a new pack. But then like a week later I couldn't find it so I decided to take the pills from another new packet I had. Then I found my original pack but decided to stick with the second one. I tried to remind myself that because I had a different pack I had to remember that when it is supposed the last four days of a pack, I need to take the white and brown ones. Just forgot about it. So the last four days I took blue pills. And now I am starting a brand new pack. So basically the last month was all blue pills. And I wont take white or brown ones until the end of my new packet. Is this bad? ## No, many women do this on purpose to skip their menstrual cycle at times it would be inconvenient to have their periods, such as for a long planned vacation or wedding. It is basica...

I took a month off of bc pills to give my body a chance to cleanse in a way. I have endometriosis so I need to be on bc pills continuously which means I'd skip the placebo pills and go right to the next pack. Jowever no where in the I instructions for lo estrin fe does it explain what the brown and white pills are. I heard the brown ones are reminder pills which makes no sense to me. Do they have hormones like the blue pills? And are thw white pills placebo? Or the brown ones?I need to skip all placebos so I am only taking the blue pills continuously. But I wanna make sure the brown onea arent improtant to take. Thanks! ## Hi amanda, According to the prescribing information on loloestrin.com, Lo Loestrin Fe consists of 28 tablets in the following order (3): - 24 blue tablets (active...

I've been in loestrin 24 for a year now, possibly a year and a half. My boyfriend and I are active and we use pull-out with the birth control. I'm on my last day of white pills today and yesterday I started getting a brown spotting, like the beginning of my period, and now when I woke up today it was dark red and kind of clumpy (sorry) like it was the beginning of my period. I've never had my period start before my placebo pills, usually on the third brown pill is when it starts. I haven't missed a pill completely, but I have taken several this month 3-4 hours late, if that makes any difference? I'm a little freaked out and have been really stressed for a while. If anyone can shed some light on what's going on I'd reallllly appreciate it. Thanks. ## If you...

I took one white pill in my pack of lo loestrin fe and then I lost the pack (it had 1 white pill and 2 brown pills left in it). I started a new pack the next day and since then I have been spotting and bleeding light red to brown blood on and off. I am on my third week of pills now and I am still bleeding on and off. I won't be bleeding half the day, but then it will start later on and then stop again. What do I do? Should I stop the pills and wait for a normal period and start a new pack, or should I continue taking them? ## Hello, Akita! How are you doing? Sorry about the problem that you're having. It might be due to the fact that you started new active pills right away. Those last pills in the pack actually have no active hormones in them, so really, you should have just not...

My doctor put me on Lo Loestrin to regulate my periods. Sometimes I go three months without one and then go a month continually having one. My question is this: which pills in the Lo Loestrin pack are inactive? I've heard that if you skip the inactive ones, you can skip periods. Please help. Really tired, cramping, and drained here.... ## Hi Amy, According to NIH.gov, each Lo Loestrin (Fe) blister pack of 28 tablets contain: 24 (active) blue, round tablets imprinted with “WC” on one side and “421” on the other and each containing 1 mg norethindrone and 10 mcg ethinyl estradiol 2 (active) white, hexagonal tablets imprinted with “WC” on one side and “422” on the other and each containing 10 mcg ethinyl estradiol 2 (non-hormonal placebo) ...

I took my Sunday white pill yesterday, skipping my placebo I was supposed to take, what do I do? ## HI, Annie! How are you? There's really nothing to worry about here, it will really just alter your cycle by a day for the new month of taking them, but you'll still be protected against pregnancy. Unless your doctor instructs you otherwise, you should just toss that placebo pill and continue with the active ones. ## I'm on lo loestrin fe. I was intimate in Saturday, my last week of the pack was from Sunday onward. I accidentally took a white tablet instead of a blue one for lo loestrin fe. What do I do?!? ## Hi Sarah, I wouldn't worry. Based on my research, there isn't a huge difference between the blue and white Lo Loestrin Fe pills. The white pills contain 0.1 mg of Ethinyl Estradiol; one of the synthetic estrogens used in most birth controls. The blue pills also contain 0.1 mg of Ethinyl Estradiol plus an additional 1 mg of Norethindrone; which is another type of synthetic estrogen. Basically, you just took a smaller dose of birth control, but not by much. This shouldn't effect you in a major way, you might just experience some light spotting and/or cramping. I am on my first pack of lo loestrin fe pills. I started my period on the second week. I have since missed 2 pills back to back in the fourth week. Now on the third day in the fourth week, i have my period again. Is this normal ? ## Yes, irregular bleeding can occur whenever you start new hormonal contraceptives for about the first 3 months. Then to compound it, you missed pills, which basically induces your menstrual cycle and during the last week of the pack, there are inactive pills that are intended to induce it. Learn more oral contraceptive details here. Are there any other questions I can help with? ## I am on my brown pills I started today. Do I take the brown pills and start new pack after those are done or do I start a new pack because I started after the white pillls?

I started lo loestrin fe 3 months ago and I didn't realize until now you are supposed to take the white pills! Last month I had cramps and spotting when I should have had period. I haven't taken any white but never missed blue pills. I am 18 days into my new pack and am extremely worried I could have gotten pregnant. What are the chances?! ## Yes, you are supposed to take those ones, they do contain an active hormone, so there could be a risk of getting pregnant. Probably not a very high one, since theoretically, you were at the end of your cycle at that point, not in the middle where you'd normally ovulate. If you don't get your period, when it's due then having yourself checked for pregnancy would be a good idea. But otherwise, if you start, you're in the clear...

I've been taking lo loestrin for for about 6 Months now. I have always got my period on the white/ brown pills. This month I never got my period. I'm on the 4th blue pill on the next pack and still nothing. I took a pregnancy test 2 weeks after and it was negative. Is this normal to miss a period / should I be worried? ## Hello, Lo! How are you? Yes, skipping a period can be normal, when taking oral contraceptives, some women don't have them, at all, on this one. There's no reason to worry, unless your doctor feels there's reason to be concerned. The FDA lists the other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with?
