Lisinopril Morning Or Night

I recently started taking Lisinopril 2.5mg about 2 weeks ago at bedtime. It was decided because I am so sensitive to medications to start on the lowest dose. It was suggested at this time because in the morning it is quite high. However, it is still high (this morning it was 155/95 and has been higher) but then it goes down throughout the morning and day. Why? Also, I've noticed that my mouth during the night is very, very dry and I wake up about 3 times per night to take a sip of water. Could this be causing the reading? Also, does it just take more time to begin to show a lowering of BP, especially in the morning? ## It may take 4 to 5 weeks for this medication to reach its full level of efficacy in your body to see how well it will work for you. The FDA lists the typical side eff...

I take 40mg of lisinopril a day. My blood pressure spikes at night. Can I take another 20mg? ## Hello, Lisa! How are you? It really depends on when and why you are experiencing a spike, according to NIH prescribing standards. What levels have the spikes reached? Has this been before or after dinner? Before, or after activity? There are many other factors at play, which may cause higher levels than usual. For example, as a HBP patient myself, I can tell you that I learned via my cardiologist that it can be normal to experience spikes when I first wake up in the morning, or after a nap, it is nothing to worry about. You may also experience spikes after activity, such as a brisk walk, working out, or engaging in intercourse. Such instances are also normal. It would be best not to increase ...

My husband takes 12.5 mg metoprolol in the morning and his lisinopril 2.5 at night. His cardiologist said to take 12.5 metoprolol in the am and another 12.5 in the pm. Our question is can the two medications together cause his no to get too low? He was put on the lisinopril to thin his blood since he is diabetic. Is it normal to be on both if there is no heart condition? ## Neither of these medications are blood thinners. What condition does he have that requires him to see a cardiologist? Medications in this class are sometimes given to diabetics to help protect kidney function, according to the NIH. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and hypotension. Does your husband have high blood pressure?

I have diabetes and my doctor gave me lisinopril to take for my kidneys. Mine says: 10MG TAB EON tablet oval pink (E 101) Gen. For ZESTRIL I have to take one every morning. My dad takes lisinopril, too. His are for high blood pressure, he takes one every night. His says: TAB 10MG Mf: LUP pink round tablet For PRINIVIL/ZESTRIL I wanted to know if they are the same or is there a difference. I need these to live, and I'm running out. My insurance has been taken away because my dad wins $10,000 more than he should. Can I get these somewhere else, I don't have anywhere to go and I'm afraid... ## The only difference between the two tablets is the manufacturer. My systolic BP is sometimes, 160, 150, 140. My diastolic is fine. My Dr. wants to increase the lisinopril to 60 mg (taking one of 40 and one of 20). I read that taking 80mg of lisinopril is no better than taking 40 mg, so my question is how 60 mg of lisinopril is going to help, if 80 or 40 have the same effect? ## Yes, the maximum daily dosage is 40mgs, it's not been found to have any benefit over that dosage. Have you discussed this with your doctor? There are other medications you can try that may give you better BP control. ## I was taking 40 mg lisinopril and my BP was still very high. Approx 200/90 at night. Dr upped lisinopril to 40 mg in the morning and 20 mg more in the afternoon. Now my BP is about 105/50 in the morning and about 150/85 in the evening. I'm feeling shaky...

I take 20 mg of lisinopril every morning. I went to take my night medicine and accidentally took my blood pressure again. Should I be worried. ## Hello, Wanda! How are you? What are your normal blood pressure numbers? My doctor has prescribed Carvedilol 12.5mg 1 in the morning and 2 at night and Lisinopril 10 mg 1 in the morning and 1 at night. My pharmacy recently switched to Myla and now the tablets are almost identical. They are the same size, both round and white, and both with a big M on one side. The only difference is the microscopic numbers on the other side. The potential for confusion is very high. Safeway Corp has mandated this switch. How do we get either Mylan to change or Safeway to change??? ## You can't. As long as the numbers are different, then they are within the bounds of the law. Learn more Carvedilol details here. Learn more Lisinopril details here. I understand how confusing it can be, but the best and safest thing you can do is to leave the tablets in their respective phar...

I accidentally took 5mg amlodipine with 20mg lisinopril. Normally I take amlodipine in the morning and lisinopril at night. ## Unless your doctor or pharmacist sees a reason to be concerned, there should not be an issue. Many of us take multiple medications to help control high blood pressure and heart conditions, multiple times a day. They do not necessarily have to be split up. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. How are you feeling? Did you experience any adverse effects?

I woke up 3 nights ago with both arms covered by what appeared to be mosquito bites. I was mystified, nut thought it might be poison ivy. The next morning, I called my BCBS hotline, who identified this an allergic reaction. I called my doctor, who took me off of lisinopril and wnats me to try taking nothing for a week, then start 2.5 mg amlodipine if necessary. I have minor rash (itchy) on my legs every morning. How long will this continue? I stopped taking fish oil, a recent addition, in case this was the culprit. I also got a severe rash from hyzaar blood pressure medecine. I have also been taking very low doses of xanax for a year now. ## Unfortunately, allergic reactions are always possible, and if you've had a reaction already to a medication, in the past, there is a good chance...

Is the best time to take this medicine in the morning or night? ## Has your doctor made any specific recommendation? Metoprolol is a beta blocker, used to treat high blood pressure and cardiac conditions and, in most cases, this type of medication is taken in the morning, because most people are far more active during the day, so that is the time their blood pressure can be elevated. However, it can cause some drowsiness and dizziness, in some people, as a side effect, and in those instances, it may be necessary for someone to take it at night. ## I am taking Lisinopril @20mg and also i am taking Metoprolol tart 25mg tab myl, my question is why do i take two High bloodpressure pills? Can i stop taking the Metoprolol Tablet? i think it is the culperet that makes me dizzy aswell, I have n...

i was given a round, not oval, pink pill says e101 on it and manufacturer is Sandoz. Sandoz does not show a round pink pill for the 10 mg lisinopril on their website, only an oval one. Could i have been given the wrong pill? ## Wow! I got exactly the same thing yesterday and was just looking for answers. My last Lisinopril 10mg tablets were oval. These are round, by Sandoz and have the E 101 on them. The description on the bottle says "oval pink tablet". Did they just change the shape? I hope we find answers. I didn't take one tonight, but I did last night. I am going to call the pharmacist in the morning.
