Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS, or spastic colon) is a symptom-based diagnosis characterized by chronic abdominal pain, discomfort, bloating, and alteration of bowel habits. As a functional bowel disorder, IBS has no known organic cause.[1] Diarrhea or constipation may predominate, or they may alternate (classified as IBS-D, IBS-C or IBS-A, respectively). Historically a diagnosis of exclusion, a diagnosis of IBS can now be made on the basis of symptoms alone, in the absence of alarm features s...

I am trying to find out if Evoxac is available up here in canada. If not what other drugs can be taken for sjorgens besides pilocarpine. I was recently diagnosed with Seratonin Syndrome after 3 months of going from doctor to doctor trying to find out what was wrong with me -- nobody knew how to diagnose it -- heart palpitations, severe joint pain (was tested for lupus and RA) dialated pupils, very agitated and irritable, nose bleeds, increased blood pressure and pulse rate. I had been on Prozac (10 mg) for over 20 yrs. after an auto accident & subsequent surgery, Neurontin (1500-1800 mg) was added, along with Tramadol (50mg) 3-4 times a day. Cymbalta (30 mg) was added to the cocktail in December & I have been fighting symptoms that no one could diagnose. Seratonin Syndrome can be life-threatening, but I was prescribed all of these medications which did nothing but react with each other. Please be careful & do...

Has anyone used Respridol for Tourette's Syndrome? My son is almost 9, and may also have ADD. He is not really hyper, and behaves well at school. He was just started on Clonidine, but it hasn't been long enough to tell anything. The doc also mentioned Respridol, so I was just wondering. He also has moderate asthma, under control with Flovent. Thanks! ## Risperdal contains Risperidone, it is a potent atypical antipsychotic, which is approved to treat Schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and Schizoaffective disorder. Most other uses are off-label and I have no information on it being used for Tourettes. Have you asked the doctor about it? You can learn more about the medication here: ## I just started using Flovent and was advised to rinse my mouth and gargle after using to avoid getti...

I have RLS and it's getting worse. I was taking .25 mg. 3x Day along with gabapentin. I still take gabapentin. My neurologis had me try Requip 2 mg at bedtime but my ins. co. won't cover it. He has now prescribed carbidopa Levo to take one at bedtime. I've done this for two nights and have not slept a skidget! Also, the RLS is in full bloom even after taking this. Maybe because I'm awake? RLS isn't fatal but my goodness it's enough to drive me to drink. Is there a connection? What would be the next medication? ## I don't know if this will help you but it sure has helped many people with RLS. It is dark healthy chocolate with very high antioxidant levels, low sugar, low fat. The pure unprocessed cacao in this has other health benefits as well. It is absolutely...

what causes guillian barr syndrome and how can it be treated. It 's symptoms are similar to MS- creeping paralysis and muscle wasting. ## Hello, Coconut! How are you? Guillain-Barré is an acute polyneuropathy, it's an ascending paralysis, it starts with weakness in the hands and feet, which then slowly moves in towards the trunk. It is most commonly triggered by an infection. Supportive care is usually the main treatment, to ensure that the patient continues receiving oxygen and, of course, antibiotics to try to eradicate the infection and stop the body's attack on the nervous system. Are there any other questions or concerns?

I am suffering from gas and loose motions. Can sazo 500 be used for irritable bowel syndrome? ## It might help, but should only be taken if your doctor has instructed you to do so. The U.S. FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

Does anyone know how to make safe parasitic worms to treat these? I need details - i know it requires a pig? {edited for privacy} - Please do not lecture me about the legality and dangers. I just need honest scientific advice on how to grow these, clean and sterile.... Thanks a lot for your help - Sally ## Hi Sally, The concept of using parasites to treat IBS and Crohns is new to me and I'm curious as to where/how you first came to know about this type of treatment modality? I will say that in my honest opinion, nothing about using parasites (especially from swine) sounds safe at all. It actually makes more sense to me to supplement with probiotics and digestive enzymes that are notoriously known to be beneficial for your gut instead of something that's not (i.e. parasites). And...

My doctor diagnosed me with IBS, but I don't have diarrhea or constipation; just pain on the upper right side of the rib cage. I'm on Hystomine and the pain is still there. How long does it take for complete relief? ## Hello, Sandra! How are you doing? Has there been any change? It can take 4 to 6 weeks for most medications to reach their full level of efficacy in your body, according to the FDA. Unfortunately, I am not quite certain what medication you are talking about, so I can't be more specific. Can you please post back and clarify? I can't find anything under the name you've provided. What you eat and drink can also affect IBS, so you may want to make sure you're eating a mild diet. ## To Vernon, on the subject of IBS the medicine that I am taking is Hyoscy...

I have severe RLS now, I have detoxed from Pramipexole (dopamine) over the past 5 weeks with support from my GP. The detox was horrific and the hardest thing I've ever had the go through in my 64 years. Now I'm taking 500mg Gabepentin and 1mg Tramadol. This combination has given me the first nights sleep in 5 weeks. I dont have pain so why do I require Tramadol? I'm scared to take the Tramadol away in case I lose my sleep pattern after going through hell and no sleep during the detox. I belong to RLS forums which give me wonderful support and I'd like some feedback about the two combination dugs that I'm on now. I'm very cautious and wary about getting too dependent on Tramadol. thank you. ## Hello, Katy! How are you? Only your doctor can give you the specific re...

I am a 49 year old female. I've always been a bit of a heavy drinker when I drink, and I believe it's catching up to me. I don't drink every day, and it can be a week before I'll have one. But then on that day, it can be from 3-4 beers, to 6-7 with 1 or 2 shots. I know it's binge drinking. I'd say on average it's twice a week. I know my nutrition intake is terrible, and I believe I'm severely deficient in several vitamins and minerals. Im 108lbs, 5ft tall. I'm having gait problems, vision issues, cognitive problems, and extreme fatigue. I often use a cane now. My doctors are checking me for MS, and believe I have it, but I'm not convinced. Waiting on the MRI. I think this could be wernicke syndrome, or the start of it. Any thoughts? ## It is diffi...

I have been taking methycobal 500MCG and neurobion tab but not much relief. Any better medication? ## Both of those are actually only nutritional supplements, so they will only help if your condition is caused because you are lacking in some vital nutrient. Since such a thing is not what causes Carpal Tunnel, it is not really that surprising that you have not gotten any relief. Have you tried anything else? There are some other medications that actually work for pain that may help. Such as opiates: or muscle relaxants: Many cases of Carpal Tunnel require bracing and surgery: Has your doctor suggested anything?

My daughter is 15 and has Down Syndrome. She has been on Minastrin 24 FE for a year to control her heavy bleeding. The doctor started her on these and told us to only give her the white pills everyday skipping the brown pills. That this would stop her cycles. She has not had any monthly cycle nor breakthrough bleeding. She developed signs of a UTI and yeast infection 12 days ago and was put on an antibiotic and a single dose yeast pill. She started spotting two days later today is da ten of that spotting. I plan to call the dr Monday if it hasn't stopped. Has this happened before to anyone? ## Hello, Debbie!
