A stroke, or cerebrovascular accident (CVA), is the rapid loss of brain function due to disturbance in the blood supply to the brain. This can be due to ischemia (lack of blood flow) caused by blockage (thrombosis, arterial embolism), or a hemorrhage.[1] As a result, the affected area of the brain cannot function, which might result in an inability to move one or more limbs on one side of the body, inability to understand or formulate speech, or an inability to see one side of the visual fiel...

My doctor prescribed Androgel 1% and, after 6 doses, I had an ischemic stroke. I guess I should get a good lawyer. ## Has it been definitively tied to the Androgel? That's the only way you'd have a leg to stand on in court, if your doctors are saying that it caused the event. Learn more Androgel details here. How severe was it? Are you doing any better? ## If you had a stoke after 6 apply i would say you would have had one anyways its not even in system after six times used so good luck lol

Does this medication also treat fatigue if it is related to a narrowing of a coronary artery? My husband's LAD has a small area of ischemia which has caused slight chest pain but he has been angina free every since his stress test which showed the above. He took one 1/2 tablet of Isosorbide min er 30 mg. as doc directed and experienced some light headedness. and decided not to take it anymore. However, though he has no symptoms of angina, he complains off fatigue. the med. opens the LAD causing more blood & oxygen to reach that heart area, so could it also help his fatigue? ## Hello, Bobby! How are you and your husband? In theory, it could, if that's what is causing his fatigue. However, it is often difficult to know what is causing such an issue. Does he take any other medi...

I have bilateral sciatica. It is caused by Stenosis of the spine, and I am in a lot of pain. I need an operation to remove it, and I have been to many hospitals in the area, but no-one wants to do it. This is because I have Ischaemic heart disease, and my heart stopped when my local hospital tried to operate. I have been on morphgesic 20mg twice a day. I think it is useless when I am have just taken it, but when it wears off I am in intense pain. I take Gabapentin (900mg 3 times daily), and Amitriptyline 75mg at night and Oramorph when the pain becomes too much to bear. What can I do? ## Since no-one seems to know what I should do, I will add a few more diseases: I have had 4 MI, 3 after CABG, and the last one was 20 years ago. My heart is basically a mess, and the problem is caused by ...

I've been a diabetic for the past 10 years. However, for the last six months I have been taking Gluconorm-PG2 twice a day. What are the side effects of this medication? Could it lead to water retention and stomach bloating? ## I am diabetic as well for the last 10 years and have been using Iscept forte tablets twice a day. Recently another doctor said that it would be better to switch to Gluconorm PG2. Has anyone else made the switch from Iscept forte to Gluconorm PG2? ## It's actually a very similar medication, but this one contains Glimepiride with the Metformin and both have been proven effective at helping to control blood sugar. Narisimha, have you consulted your doctor? This medication can increase flatulence, which may explain the bloating. And as to whether or not a swit...

Angina pectoris – commonly known as angina – is chest pain due to ischemia of the heart muscle, generally due to obstruction or spasm of the coronary arteries.[1] The main cause of Angina pectoris is Coronary Artery Disease, due to atherosclerosis of the arteries feeding the heart. I have been a patient of hypertension for last 16 yrs. It remained within normal range with regular medication. During May-June'11 the BP was higher despite medication. On July 1, I felt trouble in speech. My doctors suspected a mild stroke but there was no sign in the vocal cord. The tightness of speech was also noticed one day only. However, a CT scan of brain revealed chronic Ischemic lesions. My blood lipid profile is normal. Since then I have been prescribed (a) Losacar, (b) Losacar H, (c) Embetta-50, (d) Eslo 5mg and (e) Neurokind. I have taken first three tablets earlier also. I was told this can be used for weight gain , is this in any way accurate? ## Hello, Isci! How are you? The tablet with M R5 marking contains 0.5mgs of Risperidone, which is a very potent antipsychotic, so it is not approved, nor safe to use it to gain weight. Learn more Risperidone details here. It can cause weight gain as a side effect, along with dizziness, drowsiness and severe sedation, but it will not be a permanent weight gain, as it only lasts for the first few weeks that someone is taking it, just like other side effects. Hi, I have been on Fentanyl (Durogesic) about 8yrs. I started at 25mcg ended up to 100mcg every 48hrs. I have numerous chronic pain conditions. I had Glandular Fever then a few months later Ross River Fever (from a mosquito) I ended up with fibromyalgia and Chronic fatigue. I then had a work accident and had surgery to repair torn tendons in my shoulder. During surgery I had a stroke. Apparently there was no oxygen in the lines and this caused stroke. Things went downhill quickly from there. 56 ischemic strokes, a large cerebral aneurysm that required life saving surgery, a couple of smaller aneurysms that burst, I already had degenerative spine which got to the point I now have ruptured and bulging discs (ranging from neck to lumbar) and neuralgia in neck and jaw from the brain surgery.
