I'm having surgery tomorrow morning (Tuesday) on my elbow to repair the Ulnar nerve as well as Carpal tunnel surgery. I took a Percocet yesterday evening (Sunday) for pain. Will this affect my surgery tomorrow? ## No, this medication is not a blood thinner. It contains Oxycodone and Acetaminophen and is classified as a narcotic analgesic. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as constipation, dry mouth, dizziness, drowsiness, and headache. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I’m having a biopsy done on my left breast on Monday and they told me to stop taking any blood thinners but I wasn’t sure if the Percocet was a blood thinner or not?

I already take aspirin and plavix, which are blood thinners. Is Percocet a blood thinner? I need one for pulled quadricep pain. ## No, it is an opiate narcotic, as classified by the FDA. They warn that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. However, you should never take anything without your doctor's approval. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hello, I am having a lumbar puncture to measure CSF pressure in a week. I have been prescribed low-dose percoset (1/2 of 7.5/325 per day) to help with the pain and pressure until the lumbar puncture. I was told not to take any blood-thinning medications until the procedure. Can I still take the percoset? Or will it thin the blood as well? ## From what I could gather Percocet has two components; Oxycodone + Acetaminophen, and neither are blood thinners. So you should be fine taking it prior to your surgery. Learn More: Acetaminophen + Oxycodone Details If you have any more questions or concerns, please post back and I will be happy to help you.
