I have a skin problem. I have a rash on my face and my back so my aunt told me to use a bactrim pill because it's good. Yesterday I went to the pharmacy to fill a prescription for them. Now I just noticed that they gave me purbac instead of bactrim. Pill imprint H 49 has been identified as Sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim 800 mg / 160 mg, is this the same as the pill IP 272? I ask because I have been using the IP 272 pill for 7 years, and my pharmacy just filled it with the H 49 version. Same strength? same drug? Please advise ## Yes, they both contain the same medications in the same dosages. It is completely normal for your pharmacy to switch which manufacturers product they have on hand, depending on who was offering the cheapest price, at the time they needed to restock their supply. I’ve been throwing up and horribly sick for the past week and finally went to the ER. As far as Benadryl and Bactrim go, I did not see any interactions when I checked with medline plus. As long as your doctor is aware that you would be taking both at the same time (i.e. they prescribed those drugs to you themselves), then they probably deemed the combination to be safe. In your message you also said "but then she gave me other medicines" - can I ask what other medicines your doctor gave you? Or were you just talking about Bactrim?

I was prescribed Bactrim for an acute urinary infection. After taking it for thee days I am getting a rash. Should I stop? And what should I take for the rash? ## Yes stop. I am curious if anyone else has had any of these side effects from taking bactrim. My mouth is so swollen with blisters all inside my mouth.....now it has started to affect my private area as well with same symptoms. I cant eat and it burns all day long. They are often prescribed together, to prevent oral thrush, when someone is taking an antibiotic and is prone to developing it. The general rule for antibiotics, according to the NIH, is that if they are working, you shouldn't see any worsening after being on them for a full 24 hours and you should start to see improvement, after taking them for a full 72 hours. If it's been longer than that, with no change, you may need to try a different antibiotic. On September 6, 2016 I was prescribed Bactrim DS 800-160 for an ingrown hair turning turning into an abscess. Today about an hour ago I've developed hives and a rash on my throat. Am I having a possible allergic reaction? I took benadryl about 20 minutes ago and it is still the same if not worst. ## I am anaphylactic to the antibiotic but didn't know till the second dose in a year that both times caused aseptic meningitis. The second time also caused my throat to swell. I took 75mg of Benadryl and 20 mg Pepcid (also a antihistamine). I have been taking Bactrim ds from a local pharmacy, generic manufactured in US for 14 days, no problems. Just refilled rx last night from CVS, pills are from Aurobindo Pharma. I was wondering if it is OK to take Clorazepam and Vactrim DS at the same time or can they have a reaction? ## I meant Bactrim not vactrim ## And I'm assuming you meant Lorazepam, the active ingredient in Ativan as the other medication you're asking about? I am worried that my 16-year-old daughter took bactrim ds 800-160 at 3:20pm and then the next doz at 9:30pm the same day. Can that give her a overdose? ## Hello, Karina! How is your daughter? My doctor told me it would be ok to take these two drugs together. They both state that nausea can be a side effect. When I was taking the Bactrim I had no symptoms but the day I took both, my stomach hurt for three days and of course I did not take another vyvanse since. I had a boil which bursted 2 days back right below my thigh portion. It has formed a bump (swelled) and is painful. Since it is right below my thigh it's hard to sit. My wife found a partially dissolved (cannot read anything on itl) pill in the bottom of our washing machine. It is the same shape as a hydrocodone although he does take acne medicine that is called bactrim. which is a much larger pill but it could have just dissolved alot in the washer. the shape is similar. I dont honestly think my son uses drugs but I wanted to be safe ## Without any identifying markings, the only way to be sure would be to have it checked by a lab, which can be rather expensive.
