Blood pressure (BP), sometimes referred to as arterial blood pressure, is the pressure exerted by circulating blood upon the walls of blood vessels, and is one of the principal vital signs. When used without further specification, "blood pressure" usually refers to the arterial pressure of the systemic circulation. During each heartbeat, blood pressure varies between a maximum (systolic) and a minimum (diastolic) pressure.[1] The blood pressure in the circulation is principally due to the pum...

I was told by my NP that Cialis can raise my blood pressure. I am taking BP meds regularly to lower BP for several years. Has anyone experienced blood pressure issues while taking Cialis? Thanks. ## Actually, this class of medications usually lowers it more, which is why it's advised they not be taken with blood pressure medications, because, as reported by the NIH, it could cause your blood pressure to drop too low, which may put you in danger. You could become ill, faint, enter into a coma, or encounter a fatal issue, if it drops too low, such as heart failure. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I took my very first 10mg Cialis 4 days ago. Had a little effect in the bedroom but not as good as advertised. Also within 2 hours my B/P was 180/95 (I do not have high B/P). I was...

Is 10 mg. Less than 10/12 mg ## Hello, Connie! How are you? Can you be more specific as to what medications you're asking about? The 10/12mg denotes a medication that contains 2 active ingredients and then the 10mg would contain just one, so I'm afraid I can't be more specific, without having more information. The FDA lists the typical side effects of blood pressure medications as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, stomach pain and hypotension.

SMALL YELLOW PILL, LETTERS MIGHT BE PAF, NUMBER IS 117 ## Good pill.... bad medicine ## I have solved the mystery about the yellow pill, thanks to this site. Now, I'm a little upset with the facts. My husband suffers from a neurological illness, involving his brainstem. It's been a very difficult road for him, dealing with the problems that cannot be prevented. I am angry because the pill about which I had inquired here has turned out to be a good medication, but very bed medicine for my husband. One of his problems is that his brain makes him waste sodium; a problem we have been able to handle by being very careful. After a recent neurosurgery, he was also having trouble with a very erratic blood pressure. He was initially put on Lisinopril, but upon discharge he was given an a...

SOMETIMES AT NIGHT MY PRESSURE WILL SKYROCKET TO ABOUT 235/105. I DOUBLE DOSE MY MEDS BUT IT STILL TAKES AROUND 3-4 HOURS TO GET IT DOWN; NOT LOW BUT LIVABLE. I TAKE CLONIDINE .02 LOSARTAN 100 MG AND SOMETIMES AMLODIPINE 5 MG. ## Actually, the only thing bringing it down after 3 to 4 hours is time, not the medications. These medications don't work like that to bring it down that fast, they take time to work, which requires consistent dosing for 4 to 6 weeks to have an effect, occasionally doubling up, just when it spikes does nothing. Have you consulted your doctor about the spikes? What are you doing that may make it elevate like that? You most likely need a med adjustment in the evening, which will probably be a higher dosage of one of them. One that you could ask your doctor abou...

I was on concor 5 and lnblock 20 in the morning with aquazide 12.5 (half in the morning) and minipress 2.5 xl and alfusin d for my prostrate at night. My blood pressure was fine for three years but suddenly it shot to 170/97. The dr has changed my medication now to metasartan (40/50) from concor. I am worried that this may further disturb my blood pressure levels? ## Your blood pressure will always fluctuate, depending on your activity levels, the time of day it is checked, what you've eaten, and etc. It will never stay at one steady level all the time. The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Has there been any change, yet?

I personally had high blood pressure for a number of years, but was able to control it by controlling my eating habits and exercising. What works for me may not work for everyone, but my initial advice is to look into natural ways such as: Low/no sodium foods to help reduce inflammation and water retention; supplementation of garlic, as well as calcium, m...

my Dr checked my BP today in his office he did a 6 test cycle , it was remarkably good for once @ 120/65 BUT I noticed he checked with cuff on my right upper arm, When I test it is much higher BUT I use my left arm , So my DR re tested with cuff on Left arm, results were much high at 160/80 range . the question is is this OK? and why is there such a variation,Should I follow up with more investigation or just forget it ? ## Hello, Rob! How are you? Actually, that big of a difference in readings could be a sign of other cardiac problems, so you should consult a cardiologist. It is normal to have some fluctuations, but it shouldn't be that much, according to the NIH. Are you on any medications to treat it? ## i am not on a cardiac med, unless you consider, Crestor for cholesterol cont...

The lisinopril and bystolic was increased too, but with no real effect; and today minoxidil 10mg was added od. Am I taking too much meds? What about drug interactions? ## Hello, Pat! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem you're having. No, multiple medications like this are often prescribed, when someone has dangerously high blood pressure and need to bring it down safely as fast as possible and I din't find any interactions or problems listed, but it's always best to double check such information to be sure. The FDA classifies Minoxidil as an a...

I've never had a blood pressure issue and since taking MiraLAX for a week for constipation my lood pressure was 166/104! Could it be the MiraLAX? ## I double checked the side effects, both the consumer and professional listings, but I didn't find anything about it causing hypertension. Ref: (MiraLAX / Polyethylene glycol 3350) MedlinePlus "The effect of stimulant laxatives and polyethylene glycol-electrolyte lavage solution for colonoscopy preparation on serum electrolytes and hemodynamics": However, I think you should consult with your doctor for an exam and further testing, because while it isn't listed a side effect or reaction, other users have reported experiencing this from MiraLAX and their blood pressure went back to normal when they stopped using it. For 6 years I was taking Losar H 1 tab (morning) And Amtas AT 25 1 tab (at night). With these two tabs my BP used to be 130/80. Whenever I tried to reduce the dose my BP use to spike upwards. Since Jan 15 I started exercises like brisk walking, climbing hills, aerobics and weight training. During one year as per my doctor's advice Amtas AT 25 was stopped as BP readings came down to as low as 110/70. Now with only Losar H in the morning my readings are 115/75. Can exercise reduce BP dose? ## Hello, Sham! How are you? Yes, exercise can lower it for some people and so can dietary improvements. Long-term use of the medications creates the risk of liver and kidney damage, or failure, according to the U.S. FDA, so diet and exercise are actually much safer. Is there anything else I can hel...
