I have an infection and have fluid like sacks that break if I push on them. Is this medication a good one to get rid of my infection? ## Hello, Nannette! How are you? I am sorry about the problem you're having. Where are the fluid sacks located? Have you had this checked out by your doctor? If this is due to some type of virus, or allergy, this medication will not help. It is an antibiotic and the FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea.

I have this medication that I dont remember what it was for but I have an infected tooth thats killing me and going into my ear, I have no insurance or funds what dosage would I take this at? I have just started I took one and Im thinking 3 times a day every 8 hours will this help? ## Gregory, Bactrim is not the most effective antibiotic for dental infections. Most hospitals offer a dental clinic based on ability to pay or charity care. I understand the challenges of being financially strapped but even taken as prescribed this class drug may not completely focus on the complex infections encountered in dental sensitive organisms. For other types of infections the usual dosage of this drug is two tablets taken twice daily for ten days or otherwise directed by your prescriber. I hope that ...

my doctor has told me to take two of the sulfamethoxazole-tmp twice a day, and I'm really feeling sick since I've taken the second one, is this not an awful high dosage to be taken. ## The dose of Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim largely depends on the type of infection you have and how severe it is. However, these pills you have marked "IP 272" are regarded as "double-strength tablets". For most infections, I found that the dosing schedule was one double strength tablet (800mg/160mg) every 12 hours for roughly 7-10 days; so if you feel like you're taking too much, I would suggest contacting your doctor about this concern. Some of these antibiotics have very harsh side effects and I don't blame anyone for wanting get off of them as soon as possible. ## I a...

Pill imprint H 49 has been identified as Sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim 800 mg / 160 mg, is this the same as the pill IP 272? I ask because I have been using the IP 272 pill for 7 years, and my pharmacy just filled it with the H 49 version. Same strength? same drug? Please advise ## Yes, they both contain the same medications in the same dosages. It is completely normal for your pharmacy to switch which manufacturers product they have on hand, depending on who was offering the cheapest price, at the time they needed to restock their supply. Are there any other questions or comments?

What does this medication look like? ## Well, since it is a generic for Bactrim, there are many on the market and they will all have different markings, depending on the dosage and manfacturer. Some markings include: IP 272 5898 V MP 85 93 089 IP 271 MP 81 E 112 SZ 286 DAN DAN 5547 33 BIOCRAFT And this is in no way a comprehensive list. Do any of these match the pill you are asking about? If not, please post back with the imprint from your tablet and I will gladly look it up for you.

The Rx pill I have is a white, unscored oval with FO on one side and a design that resembles a squared off lower case e. The second one is white, more rectangular, scored with 2 / 125 and IMO on the opposite side. The third one is a scored white oval with IP / 272 on one side and blank on the other. I would like to know the name and dosage of each. ## Hello, Marky! How are you? The tablet with the IMO 2/125 on it is an over the counter product, it contains 2mgs of Loperamide and 125mgs of Simethicone, it's called Imodium Advanced, it's used to treat diarrhea and gas/bloating. Learn more Loperamide details here. Learn more Simethicone details here. The tablet with the FO and the Abbott Pharmaceuticals logo contains 145mgs of Fenofibrate, which is used to help lower cholesterol. I...
