My menstrual cycle is 4 months delayed and when I had a medical checkup in the school, the nurse said that i had hyperthyroidism. Does hyperthyroidism affect my menstruation? I have been stressed out about this for the past few weeks. ## Yes, thyroid issues can cause problems with your menstrual cycle, as well as weight changes, mood swings and hair loss, according to the NIH. Are you on any medications? Do you have any other diagnosed medical conditions?

Hi - I have thyroid issues, and within the last three years my thyroid has became very active. I was told I had hyper when I was 15 and now I will be turning 22 this December. But just in last three years I have noticed that my teeth have become really bad. Decaying of my molars, sensitive to hot and cold, and jaw pain. My wisdom teeth are growing in but my dentist in Burlington (Pearl Dental) says that my wisdom teeth will not affect any other tooth unless it scrapes the others. My gums were also tender and swollen for about a week. I was wondering if having a really overactive thyroid would cause these problems? I should also tell you that my doctor is very worried that I could have a heart attack at any moment. I am dizzy, can not sleep, always hungry, losing weight fast, some days m...

Which pill is better for hyperthyroidism, methimazole or propylthiouracil? One is a 10mg and the other is 50mg, so which one is the best to take? ## Which medication has your doctor recommended for you? It really depends on what type of thyroid condition is being treated. The FDA lists typical side effects of them both as possibly including nausea, dizziness, weight changes, hair loss, and mood changes. Are you on any other medications?

i have been taken thyronorm (thyroxin 100) 100mg for past 3yrs but i have no idea ,which type of my thyroid disease means its hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism?. please define this. ## Hyperthyroidism simply means your thyroid makes too much thyroid hormone. Your thyroid is a gland in the front of your neck. It controls your metabolism, which is how your body turns food into energy. It also affects your heart, muscles, bones, and cholesterol. Having too much thyroid hormone can make a lot of things in your body speed up. You may lose weight quickly, have a fast heartbeat, sweat a lot, or feel nervous and moody. Or you may have no symptoms at all. Hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) early symptoms can include: Being more sensitive to cold; Constipation; Depression; Fatigue or feeling sl...

I was one Levothyroxin for four years and recently found out my throid was/is normal and I never should have been on the medication. What are the risk of taking it when not needed and the doctor abruptly took me off the medicine ## Because Levothyroxine is a thyroid hormone that is used to treat hypothyroidism (a condition where the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormone), in the worst case scenario, I think there is a good chance of experiencing symptoms that are more so associated with hyperthyroidism. Other than that, some patients have reported withdrawal effects that may be associated with taking Levothyroxine. How long has it been since you stopped taking the medication?

I am a thyroidectomy hyperthyroidism 45 year old female with hypokalemia on 30 meq's a day but I also take 80 mgs of Lasix. 9 out of ten times my potassium is low but I have been eating so much food with potassium that mine was at 10 last time and I was in the emergency room and I cannot find a doctor, not at a hospital in my area that doesn't have a 3 month wait. Is there a way to get your blood taken without an emergency room? I have insurance, just do not trust hospitals. They treat you like a rotating door and you never accomplish anything. HELP. PLEASE. ## Your doctor can order blood work, some blood draws are done right at their office, or at the hospital lab, but neither requires you to go to the ER. What reason did they give for a 3 month wait? Usually, if you've had...

I had been taken off of Amiodarone because I was drifting towards hyperthyroidism. The EP put me on Multaq which was totally ineffective in keeping my A-Fib under control. After a year of this, and being in and out of A-Fib for all that time, and miserable, he and my cardiologist decided I should resume Amiodarone. It's been about 2 months now since the changeover and I feel great! No A-Fib and, so far, no side effects. If I start to have thyroid issues again, I will have to deal with that or be a candidate for ablation. ## I am glad that the Amiodarone is working well for you, now. Multaq has, unfortunately, proven to be one of those medications that works really well for people, or not at all, it seems. We've had some people get great results from it, but just as many others t...
