this dose was prescribed by my pain Dr for ra. I do not tolerate any of the oxy drugslike Percocet I hallucinate. theprescribed dose of hydrocodone is not cutting the pain. it's ok to take another if I'm still in pain after one hour? ## If your meds aren't working, talk to the pharmacy first. Ask if they changed manufacturer? Keep a ear out for aurobindo or aurolife.... They seem to be defective....but I won't know till I get independent lab work done. 2nd, call your doc..hell email if you have to, but please! Don't ever go against what's prescribed to you! Its not such a hot idea. Good luck! :-) ## I agree with what post #1 had suggested in regards to contacting the pharmacy as well as your doctor first. There are a number of different manufacturers of this medi...

my pain meds are not working as well i went from 6 a day to 10. ## Have you discussed it with your doctor? An issue that often occurs, after gastric bypass, is that many substances, including medications, don't get a chance to stay in your stomach long enough to be absorbed. The same can happen with foods, which is why people have to be careful not to become malnourished. Didn't they discuss any of these issues with you, before the surgery? ## I am 3+ years post-GB and have chronic back pain. Will be hanging my third back surgery at some time in the no to distant feature, which will include a vertebrae fusion. I have been through a number of medications to help/deal with the pain, as well as a number of pain Doctors who have made me feel like a drug addict at times. Some things ...

Actually I have been taking them for about 9 months after the Watson (Norco) sold the company and made changes to their medication, they claim all they did was remove the yellow dye! BS the medication sucks, it's useless! On to aurobindo, they have worked for the last months as a good replacement however my latest refill, they are horrible, ineffective with headaches, I am guessing greed stepped in and the company made some changes, because these too are now useless! They will learn an expensive lesson as others will turn away from them as I now will. For some reason the pharm industry has less concern for the patient "customer" than any other, they think they can do as they please. ## @webhead, I agree with what you said about the pharmaceutical industry expressing less con...

Is it really norco? I just got my refill today and they are not working as well as my previous prescription. ## Hi Yaya, My research from the manufacturer depicts a white oval tablet marked with 2172 to be identified as a generic Hydrocodone Bitartrate 5mg + Acetaminophen 325mg pill. For verification, it carries a National Drug Code of 0591-2172 and is reportedly a product of Actavis Pharmaceuticals that from what I could gather, seems like a newer generic tablet since information about it is relatively sparse on the internet. Hope this helps! ## I have the exact same problem ! The ones with the 2172 do not work the same as the 3604 did . How is this even possible ? Or is it. Are they exactly the same ?

I have just recently began a pain treatment clinic. I was prescribed hydrocodone 5mg with 325 mg acetaminophen. This is not working for me. What do I need to say to convince my Dr to change to oxycodone? ## How you tell the Dr. you want to change? That you want to change back to your old meds, pain pill. ## Just be honest with your doctor, tell them that the new medication isn't working for you, but you should do so, without asking for a specific replacement medication, let them suggest a solution, and then discuss your options from there. Oxycodone has a tendency to be addictive and is highly abused, which makes many doctors reluctant to prescribe it. It's other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Does anyone else have any advice to...

I've been taking Watson 5-325 hydrocodone from Walgreens for years for back pain. I am disabled, have scoliosis and two bad car accidents caused the need. 3 months ago Walgreens changed to this new Actavis brand. It isn't working! Until I read this, I thought I would have to increase my dosage. Also for the past 3 months I've had sore throat and pain in sinuses and ears. I thought I had overdone my Flonase and have gone through 2 rounds of antibiotics without relief. When I read about the mother's ears ringing and nausea, I put this together. Thank you so much! I scheduled another appointment today for next week about this. Hopefully a new scrip will solve both issues. I went to CVS today and found out they have qualitest brand hydrocodone. ## @Brat Cat, You're defin...

Please tell me if watson has a white 10/325?? I only had the yellow one's.. Are they real? ## Actually, Watson has recently been removing the dye from many of their tablets, due to people being allergic or sensitive to them. Thus, several of their products are now white. However, if you received it from an approved U.S. pharmacy and it has the same markings, then it is still the correct medication. Learn more Lortab details here. You should be aware, however, that there have also been reports from some that they don't seem to work the same and aren't as effective. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Yes they are white now. I just had to call the pharmacy to make sure I was given the right prescription. ## JG are they working fine for you? I have my white now, and I do...

I am new to butran patch. I have heard that it May take a couple of days for the patch to become effective....is it ok to take my loratab 10mg 2 tabs every 6 hrs the first day? ## Hello, Gaye! How are you? There is no reason it should take so long for the patch to start working, it should only take a short time for the medication to start being absorbed and alleviating your pain. Learn more Butrans details here. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. And you shouldn't take any other narcotic medications, unless your doctor says that it is safe for you to do so. Are there any other questions or concerns? ## I would think so, but my pain doc gives me Percoc...

The company Aurobindo hydrocodone/apap 10-325 has U03 on it does not work its as though the meds are fake. don't know for sure but I have never had problems with my meds working until my pharmacy changed to this companyAurobindo ## Hello, Linda! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem you're having. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Have you consulted your doctor? They may need to prescribe an alternative medication, in the meantime. ## Same here! Just got these same bunk meds myself, a couple weeks ago, worthless! Are they still making the round white Watson 10-325? After being on them for yrs for pain for my back all of a sudden the pharmacy changes to another that's A333. Not working nearly as well. But was also told that Watson was bought out. Unfortunately I'm one of those people that can't cant generics, & have the perfect formula for my medication til they just threw a wrench in it. Now I'm lost & not sure where to go or what 2 do. Any advise? ## No, that generic is also not being manufactured. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. The best suggestion I can make is that you speak to your doctor about trying an alternative medication. Does...

How much hydrocodone is equivalent to a 75mcg fentanyl patch every 48hrs? I'm trying to replace my patch with oral hydrocodone. ## With regards to medication equivalency, I feel that there is no effective way to compare Hydrocodone and Fentanyl on a milligram to microgram basis. Not only does each individual react/respond differently to the same substances, but we also have to factor in the numerous binders and fillers which affect absorption/bioavailability, the variances across each manufacturer's quality assurance, tolerance, weight, one's unique level of pain (that fluctuates intermittently throughout the day), and most importantly the route of administration (transdermal vs orally)... Working closely with your doctor through trial and error may help you determine an eff...

I'm a Disabled Army Combat Veteran and I've had, to no surprise, a slew of different types of hydocodone, but recently the pills I've been issued have red or blue spots in them. I was told by my doctor that the spotted pills absorb into your body faster and therefore begin working faster and last longer, is this fact or fiction? ## Fiction! They are all regular release tablets that will take 15 to 20 minutes to start working and the speckles in some of them make no difference to that. That's just something that the manufacturer decided to do to their tablets to set them apart from the others available on the market. Learn more Vicodin details here. Any such colors and speckles are entirely up to whit and whim and mean nothing whatsoever to the actual absorbency rate of t...

Ok, I am taking 4 and a 1/2 a day and have been on them for about 2 months now. My question is: They don't seem to be working like they were before, but I don't want to be addicted or maybe I already am and that's why they don't seem to help the pain as they did before? So is the mall at the end just the maker, distributer? ## Hello, Judi! How are you? Sorry about the problem that you're having. The mall stands for Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals, they're the manufacturer. You will also likely be relieved to know that you don't have to be addicted to develop tolerance to a medication. That happens to everyone with any medication they take for a long period of time, your body just gets used to it and it stops working as well as it did. Sometimes it takes years fo...

white oblong pill with imprint 3596 on one side cursive v on other side ## I'd like to add some updated information for anyone viewing this post as of 2013 and after. I don't have a picture of this tablet to post, due to copyright reasons. However yes, the pill with this marking is listed as containing 7.5mgs of Hydrocodone and 750mgs of Acetaminophen, the active ingredients in Vicodin, which is a narcotic pain reliever. It may be habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness and constipation. And as of this time, the FDA is working to have the amount of Acetaminophen in all such tablets lowered to only 325mgs, due the toxicity dangers. Thus, at some future point, this information may no longer be correct and if they company retains this impri...

Hello, I take hydrocodone 5/325 for L3,4,5, disc pain and CIPN. It is not doing well for me. I was bumped up from 600mg of Neurontin to 800mg 2 months ago. All of March I was in constant pain, in the balls of my feet especially. I am wondering if the Hydrocodone needs to be increased since the neurontin/hydrcodone doses together aren't working. I will not see pain management doc again til May, any advice is very appreciated. Thanx :) ## Can you call them to explain the issue and see if you can get a sooner appointment? It's hard to say which one might need to be increased, or changed. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, constipation, mood swings, and weight changes. Are you on any other medications? ## Hey Verwon, ...

To me... ## They are manufactured by Sun Pharmaceuticals and they list them as containing 10mgs of Hydrocodone, and 325mgs of Acetaminophen. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, headache, constipation, dry mouth, and dizziness.
