For some 6-8+ years now, i have been taking 7.5/325 Hydrocodone (HYDROCO/APAP); generic name Qualitest. The pill is colored (pinkish/orange) with a "v" inscribed on one side; not 100% sure of Manufacturer; possibly NORCO or PAR P.; Qualitest has ALWAYS been the most reliable version of Vicodin/Hydrocodone. At any rate, much to my surprise several months ago, i had a script filled but when i opened vial, it was filled with WHITE (Watson) tablets; i was told that Qualitest was no longer available. The next morning (basically every morning) i awakened with a significant amount of pain and got myself up to take my normal/regular dose but after more than enough time for what would have relieved the pain; i felt NO relief whatsoever; after a second pill, i started to feel nauseous and...

I have taken hydrocodone 10 mg for several years, and sometimes get jittery..sort of like speedy..and uncomfortable. I noticed the other day that I have two different sizes of pills (from a different pharmacy last month). Is it possible that one manufacturer has an ingredient different from another? My doctor and I have been trying to identify why I get jittery for over a year..and I think it has to do with manufacturers. ## There can be differences between generic medications, since under the Hatch-Waxman Act of 1984 they are allowed to differ from the name brand by as much as plus or minus 20% in the amount of the active ingredients. They also don't have to measure against each other, thus it is possible that one of them is higher or lower in the amount of Hydrocodone, which could...

I was taking the Mallinckrodt hydrocodone-acetaminaphen 10-325. They were doing the job. My pharmacy ran out and was using Caraco hydrocodone-acetaminaphen 10-325. They were next to worthless for relief. What's the deal do you think? ## Hi Perry, Usually when you switch to another manufacturer's version of the same drug, the primary differences can be found in the list of "inactive" ingredients (which I personally don't believe are actually "inactive" as they say). To my understanding the various binders/fillers may account for how well you metabolize/absorb each active ingredient. Mallinckrodt's M367 (10/325) tablets reportedly contain the following set of inactive ingredients: crospovidone + magnesium stearate + microcrystalline cellulose + povidone + c...

are there reported differences in strength or quality between the hydrocodone products of the different manufacturers? ## My doctor prescribed 5mg hydrocodone /apap as needed for pain not to exceed 4 hr intervals. The pharmacy dispenses the drug from at least three different manufacturers in differing forms of tablets. Are there studies or reports comparing the pharmacokinetics or quality control results for the tablets? ## No, there are no reports to be found to give you those precise details, but yes there can be differences from one generic manufacturer to the next. They can actually differ in the amount of the amount of the active ingredients by as much as plus or minus 20% measured against the original name brand. Learn more Vicodin details here. As long as they fall within that ac...

## I am looking for the pharmacudical company that makes lortab and/or hydorcodine to help a disabled person get on the patient assistant program. Thank you ## Not sure of the exact manufacturer- there are many manufacturers of Hydrocodone related drugs. You might want to start at The Partnership for Prescription Assistance: ## HMyers, thanks for the information, but they did not have hydrocodine on their list. Have you ever heard of the company Mallinkrt, that is the name on the bottle, but I cannot find them either. Thanks again ## Unfortunately, most companies do not offer patient assistance for their generic medications, such programs are usually only offered for name brand medications. Is there a difference between norco IP 109 and norco M 365? If so, what is it? ## Hello, Sarah! How are you? They are just manufactured by different companies. The one with the IP 109 marking is manufactured by Amneal Pharmaceuticals and the one with the M 365 marking is manufactured by Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals, but both are listed as containing 5mgs of Hydrocodone and 325mgs of Acetaminophen. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

I understand that different manufacturers can actually use different amounts of the various ingredients in a particular medication. Is there any way to find how exactly what each manufacturer uses in their pill? ## Hello, Jerry! How are you? No, there is not. As long as they fall within the acceptable limits of plus or minus 20% of the active ingredients as compared to the name brand, they are considered therapeutically equivalent. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. what are the red dots for? ## Hi greg, Based on my research, the red dots are just there as a design. They are not made of any active ingredient to enhance the medication. There are some pills with blue dots as well, it's just how the manufacturer decided to design the pills for brand identification. Do you have any more questions regarding this medication? If so, please post back! ## They are chemical marker that the DEA has forced pharmaceutical manufacturers to mix in to pills for tracking drug traffic. They will be in all narcotics soon but are primarily in hydrocodone, ambient and some ADHD meds. Different regions get slightly different colors so they can trace sources to the area and even pharmacy ie. Walmart, CVS, Walgreens. This is why there have been some shortages recently...

I take Qualitest 10/500 pink hydrocodone. My pharmacy has told me that Qualitest will no longer be making this. I have tried other 10/500 pills to no avail. Qualitest is the only manufacturer that works on my pain . Does Qualitest offer another size ? ## Hello, Ted! How are you doing? Actually, after the first of the year (2014), none of the manufacturers will be making this dosage, anymore. Due to the risks of liver damage or failure that can occur with long-term use of high amounts of Acetaminophen, as well as the overdose fatalities that have occurred with these medications, the FDA has requested that all combination prescription products be lowered to contain no more than 325mgs of Acetaminophen, per dose. What pharmacy carries the blue hydros 10/500 in El paso, Tx westside? ## If you're referring to the blue ones that are manufactured by Watson with the marking WATSON 540 on them, you aren't going to find them anymore. You'll need to be looking for them in white, since Watson has removed the dye. Learn more Norco details here. Additionally, they will all soon be changed to only contain a maximum of 325mgs of Acetaminophen, due to concerns raised by the FDA, because of the risk of liver damage associated with long-term use and the toxicity of overdose. Thus, all manufacturers are expected to change their formulations to the lower amount no later than January of 2014. Do you remember who the manufacturer was? ## Until then Mr.Verwon where can I get them here? I am already going...

I fell and damaged 6 disc in my spine. I had surgery on 2 disc and was given hydrocodone apap which was yellow with a V on one side and 3601 on the other side. I was later given the same prescription, but the pill was white and had IP 110 on it. The yellow stopped the pain with no side effects. The white makes me feel drugged and nauseous. What is the difference? I have also be give a 7.5 of the same medication. It is white with U02 on it. It makes me feel the same way as the white 10/325 does. Who are the manufacturers? Please help!!! ## Hello, Marie! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problems you've had. on one side it sendes watson 387 ## Can this medication cause constipation.? prescribed for pain relief. ## This tablet contains 750mgs of Acetaminophen and 7.5mgs of Hydrocodone, the active ingredients in Vicodin, Lortab or Norco. And yes, it is a narcotic pain reliever, so constipation can be one of its side effects, along with dizziness, drowsiness and nausea. Learn more Lortab details here. An additional note to add is that the FDA has requested that all such medications be changed to lower the dosage of the Acetaminophen in them to a maximum of only 325mgs, due to the danger associated with its toxicity and overdose. Some manufacturers have already begun to implement this change and the rest are expected to have done so by January 2014. Thus, at any future point, anyone looking for...

Did waston quit making the green 10/650?this is what my pharmacist told me when I got my last script, gave me a flat white pill that does nothing to relieve my pain. ## HI, Flash! Sorry that you're so miserable, I do understand. There are actually two issues at play here…. The first is that Watson had some issues with customers being sensitive/allergic to the dyes in their products, so they have been changing them to remove the dyes and, while they claim that is the only change that's been made, many people are complaining that they are no longer effective at treating pain. The second issue is that due to concerns over overdose toxicity and the possibility of liver damage from long term use of high amounts, the FDA has requested that all manufacturers lower the amount of Ac...

Thanks ## Yes, this is a generic for Vicodin or Norco, but it is the 5/325mg dosage. You can learn more Vicodin details here. All such tablets will be changed to contain only 325mgs of Acetaminophen by January of 2014, due to the new FDA directive. Some manufacturers are already making the changes. this dose was prescribed by my pain Dr for ra. I do not tolerate any of the oxy drugslike Percocet I hallucinate. theprescribed dose of hydrocodone is not cutting the pain. it's ok to take another if I'm still in pain after one hour? ## If your meds aren't working, talk to the pharmacy first. Ask if they changed manufacturer? Keep a ear out for aurobindo or aurolife.... They seem to be defective....but I won't know till I get independent lab work done. 2nd, call your doc..hell email if you have to, but please! Don't ever go against what's prescribed to you! Its not such a hot idea. Good luck! :-) ## I agree with what post #1 had suggested in regards to contacting the pharmacy as well as your doctor first. i get hydroco/apap 10-500 they used to be pink and now they are giving me white ones that seem to be weaker and i am just want to know are they giving me the right meds or are the giving me a weaker brand I think they are giving me 5's instead of 10's the writing on the pill looks like watson 540 thank you ## The tablets with the WATSON 540 marking contain 10mgs of Hydrocodone and 500mgs of Acetaminophen, so they did provide you with the correct dosage. However, Watson recently changed them to remove the dye, which is why they are now white and there have actually been many posts from people saying that they no longer seem to be as effective. Learn more Vicodin details here. Another note I'd like to added is that as of 2013, the FDA has made a request that all manufacturers ...

why is this being a discontinued medicine ## The only thing that is changing is the amount of Acetaminophen. It is being reduced to 325 mg. The FDA has asked all of the manufacturers of Acetaminophen combination medications to reduce it. The changes will go into effect in Jan 2014.

Can anyone tell me why every pharmacy in metro Detroit is out of Norco? They don't know when they will be in? Even the pain center that prescribed it with their own pharmacy is out. ## Shortages just sometimes happen, the manufacturers may have trouble obtaining the raw ingredients, shipping problems or etc. The only thing you can really do is wait it out, or speak to your doctor about possibly prescribing an alternative medication in the meantime. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I understand that it's a pain and I'm sorry about that, but the situation should resolve itself soon. Is there anything else I can he...

Is Mallinckrodt m367 10-325 the same as Qualitest 3601 10-325? ## Both of the pills in question are one in the same drug. The only difference is that they are manufactured by different companies. Additionally, there may be a slight variation of inactive ingredients; but other than that you can be assured that they are the same drug and same dosage. When you switch brand names or manufacturers, the drug itself doesn't change, but rather the binders or fillers that they put with it. Certain "inactive" ingredients that may or may not be present in each brand, are actually detrimental to how the drug is metabolized and used by your body. Because everyone is different, your body may agree with one medication over the other, due to how you feel or based on whatever side effects pr...
