Is hydrocodone acetaminophen 5 325 a anti inflammatory? If so, I need to skip it for a week for a upcoming surgery. ## Hello, John! How are you? No, the FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it carries the risk of being habit forming and it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. However, you should check with your doctor to make sure it is safe for you to continue taking it before surgery. Is there anything else I can help with? ## My Dr just told me I could continue Norco 7.5/325 till surgery but not celebex 200 for five days.

Is it safe to take my pain meds (for my back injury) 2 days before I have a biopsy? Is it safe? Or is THAT considered an anti inflammatory medication? ## Hello, Kandy! How are you? No, this is not an anti-inflammatory. The FDA classifies it as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Thus, it should be fine, unless your doctor has instructed otherwise. Is there anything else I can help with? ## No thanks.....I went without it for the week. But thank you for answering my question. ## Having bilateral knee surgery in Two days is it OK to take hydrocodone\ acetaminophen before surgery won't increase chance of bleeding?

Slipped and fell down five steps... injured neck, shoulders, back and lower back. Chiropractor (4 times so far = massage manual & electronic, light manipulation); Physical Therapy (1 time so far = vibrate massage and stretches); all preceded by MD exam (and x-rays to eliminate fractures) and prescription of Hydrocodone 5 325 (126). PT asks that I take neoproxin sodium (Aleve) regularly to build anti-inflammatory properties for next few weeks. Also suggests Flexerall at night for aiding rest. PT confident most pain, including lower left spasms (very painful, debilitating) will be alleviated and eliminated. Are we headed in right direction? ## Hello, Philip! How are you? Which is better to take for relieving pain from a pinched nerve (hydrocodone/acetaminophen 5-325mg or ibuprofen 100mg)? ## They really aren't comparable, to be honest. Hydrocodone with Acetaminophen is a narcotic pain reliever, while Ibuprofen is just a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory. The FDA warns that Hydrocodone carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Which one has your doctor instructed you to take?

I have pain all over my body in arms, back, legs, neck and hands, getting worse with each passing year. It's in my bones and joints. It goes from a scale of 1 to 10 and I stay at 7 to 9 most times. It hurts very bad and makes it hard to move around or sleep. I need to know what to do or get to help lower the swelling and pain down a little. Coldness sends it off the wall as for pain and temps going from 70 to low 30s kills me. I am a man of 60 years and have worked hard over the years but find it hard nowadays just to get up and move around. Had took anti-inflammatory pills over 15 years ago and it seemed to help. I think it had steroids in it. I am taking Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen 10mg-325mg for the pain, but would steroids / anti inflammatory pills help? ## Hello, Michael! How are...

Why can my DR. not prescribe the HYdrocodone apap 10/660 .reason being i was on it for about 7 years with no side affects and could stop taking it anytime with no problems. The narco 10/325 i have to take twice as many to git the same results, and have constipation problems. ## In Jan 2014, the FDA required manufactuers to limit the amount of tylenol in prescription meds to no more than 325 mgs. They no longer make a med rx with 660 mg tylenol. ## @Rocky, BL is right about the new law limiting the amount of acetaminophen to 325mgs. However to my knowledge there are safer alternatives to acetaminophen (such as Curcumin/Turmeric root) with studies showing that it's as effective as other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs but without side effects when taken as directed. So if that...

IP 190 with a divided line on the back of the pill is hydrocodone 5mg with 500mg acetaminophen. Definitely similar to the naproxen IP 190 with 500 on the other side. ## The tablet with the IP 190 500 marking is 500mgs of Naproxen, which is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory. The other tablet has the marking of IP 109 and it is a generic for Vicodin that contains 5mgs of Hydrocodone and 325mgs of Acetaminophen. The two different imprints have been confused here on other threads.

I've seen Naproxen and have been told Vicodin has this imprint as well. Are Naproxen and Vicodin the same? ## Naproxen and Vicodin are two very different pain medications. To my understanding, the similarities found in the imprint are just a sign that they had been manufactured or redistributed by the same company (Amneal Pharmaceuticals). The IP 190 500 tablet contains Naproxen 500mg (NDC 65162-0190); a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. Ref: DailyMed The IP 109 tablet contains Vicodin (Acetaminophen 325mg + Hydrocodone 5mg); which is a combination of two types of pain medicine - Hydrocodone being an opiate narcotic pain reliever. (NDC 53746-109): Ref: DailyMed Hope this helps! ## You are probably confused because the markings are similar. Generic Norco 5/325mg (Hydrocodone/a...

One Norco 10-325 is equal to how many Ibuprofen? I take 6 Ibuprofen at a time to kill pain and it just barely works. What is the strength difference between one Norco and the Ibuprofen? ## Hello, Mailand! How are you? There is actually no way to accurately compare these two medications, since Ibuprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory and the Hydrocodone is an opiate narcotic that's coupled with Acetaminophen (aka Tylenol). The FDA warns that Hydrocodone carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Which has your doctor instructed you to take?

If I can't take any aspirin or anti-inflammatory drugs 5 days before a procedure, can I still take hydrocodone/acetaminophen 10-325? ## You should be able to take it, unless you have been told not to do so, since it does not contain Aspirin, or any other anti-inflammatory. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, constipation, and headache. Are you on any other medications? ## I had my second de dimer blood test last week ,it was 5.3 my GP said that 5 or under would have been a better result, I have to go for another de dimer in two weeks, I am currently on Cartia 100mg since three weeks the de dimer at that time was 3. I still say do not to come off Xarelto straight away on to Aspir...

I take hydrocodone-apap (10-325) half dose for back muscle spasms. Too much acts as a stimulant and results in insomnia. I discovered that combined with Aleve (1 pill) that I obtained entire relief. Unfortunately, I am stomach sensitive to NSAIDs. Do you have any suggestions for an anti-inflammatory that is not stomach sensitive? Acetamedaphine (Motrin) does not work. Thanks. ## No, by their very nature, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications cause excess stomach acid, so all of them can cause stomach irritation. Have you discussed it with your doctor? Some people do well using a medication that helps reduce stomach acid, such a proton pump inhibitor, or straight antacid, when taking NSAIDs. And Motrin does not contain Acetaminophen, the active ingredient in Motrin is actually Ibupr...

My wife has horrible tooth pain in the upper and lower right molars. She just took two ea 200 mg ibuprofen about 1 hr ago with no relief. Can she take 1 10 mg hydrocodone/325 mg apap now? ## No, the two anti-inflammatories, Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen should not be mixed, that is too high of an amount of them and it raises the risk of bleeding and other complications. Has she contacted a dentist? ## correction. Ibuprofen and acteminophen serve 2 distinctly differant objectives and are wholey compatible to be used with each other. In fact is quite often perscrbed together. Ask doctor for cor5rect dossages. ## acetaminophen (Tylenol) does NOT have anti-inflammatory properties. It is ONLY an analgesic(pain reliever) and an antipyretic (fever reducer ## I have a severe toothache. I've b...

It is yellow. ## white round ww 2410 ## What is a round, off white or very light yellow pill with M 89 imprinted on it? ## Watson 853 is indeed a generic for Norco. It contains Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone. No listing for WW 2410, sorry. M 89 is Meloxicam 15mgs, a generic for Mobic. This is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory. ## Is watson 853 indeed 10mg hydrocodone with 325 mg of tylenol? ## Is an oval small red pill with the markings KALI 083 a norco? ## Ron, KALI 083 is Acetaminophen 325 mg + Tramadol 37.5 mg, which is generic for Ultracet. ## Watson 853 - Yes, generic Norco...I have been getting it for a few...

I have a large, very painful hemangioma on my S1. I have been given hydrocodone-acetaminophen 10-325,ibuphrophen 800 mg, gabapentin, 300 mg and Tizanidine 4 mg which helps. Over the weekend, I have run out of Tizanidine and am in a lot of pain, also the sciatica is the worst. I was wondering if I could take naproxyn 500 mg to see me through the two days. ## Can Naproxyn be taken instead of Tizanidine? ## Naproxen is an anti-inflammatory and should Not be taken if you're taking ibuprofen or another anti-inflammatory drugs. Tizanidine is a muscle relaxer. ## @Shirley, If you're considering an alternative to the Tizanidine (muscle relaxer) for those times when you run out, I think it might be a good idea to look into research on effective doses of Valerian root which is also revere...

After six hours of taking hydrocodon-acetaminophen5-325 can I switch to Naproxin 500mg in order to drive safely, or should I wait longer? ## Hello, Rose! How are you? How is the Hydrocodone affecting you? Is it making you dizzy, drowsy, or making you feel high? If so, you definitely won't want to be driving, while feeling like that. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and could cause other side effects, such as nausea, dry mouth and constipation. Otherwise, you should be able to switch, if your doctor approves. However, Naproxen is just a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, so it likely won't alleviate your pain as much. Typical side effects of it may include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. Is the...

I take one and a half to two Hydrocodone Apap 5/325 a day and want to know if it's liver-damaging, esp the tylenol if I take it long-term to forever. I take it in the late afternoon. Then at bedtime I have to take (for a sleep disturbance) a clonazepam, .5 mg. Is this safe to continue in these dosages? ## Almost all medications are processed through the liver and yes, with long-term use, there is always the risk of damage to the liver or other organs from nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications, such as the Acetaminophen in this. Many people, however, take more than one and a half, to two of the Hydrocodone with Acetaminophen in a day, so you are taking a very low amount. Long-term use of the Clonazepam has been know to cause some problems, such as sexual dysfunction, depression ...
