I work in a surgical practice and today we were told by a pharmacy that this formulation is no longer available? We thought that a few years ago the FDA mandated that the level of Acetaminophen be reduced ## Yes, it was mandated that the amount of Acetaminophen in combination prescription medications be lowered to no more than 325mgs per dose, the FDA put this regulation in place a few years ago. But with just the 300mgs, the only one currently listed as still being available is 10/300mg. However, there is a 7.5/325mg dosage available. I had that happen a couple months ago, when my doctor prescribed it. I had to wait for the pharmacy to reach her and authorize the 325mg dosage, before I could pick up my prescription. This medication is classified as a narcotic analgesic, so it carries t...

are Lortabs still in use? My pharmicist said they were no longer made. ## The FDA has asked dr to no longer prescribe it with 500 mg acetaminophen but instead to use the mandated reduced 325 mg acetaminophen. The FDA has also asked pharmacists to contact the drs if a rx is written for the 500 mg before filling it. The hydrocodone and acetaminophen (Lortab, Vicodin, Norco) are still made. But, the amount of acetaminophen has been reduced. ## So can you take a Tylenol to get the same results since they lowered it to 325? I'm so used to the 500 and it just isn't the same ## Talk to your dr first. The new recommendation from the FDA is not to exceed 3,000 mg of tylenol in a 24 hr period. ## It isn't that the FDA has asked them to no longer prescribe the higher amounts, they'...

Is it unusual for a pharmacy not to carry the 300mg version of Acetaminophen + Hydrocodone? My Dr. that usually writes a script does it for Acetaminophen 325mg + Hydrocodone 7.5mg and this script is for the 300mg version. ## No given pharmacy is under any obligation to carry any given medication in any specific dosage. Is it possible that your doctor meant to write for 325, rather than 300, with the 7.5? Have you tried contacting them to ask? The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth.

I'm taking hydrocodon-APAP 5/300MG How much Tylenol does this contain? I was told by nurse at hospital to take Tylenol between doses. Is it ok to take this medication for along period of time SAY 3 to 4 weeks ## Dear Don, this medication contains 300 mg. of Tylenol. Yes it's ok 2 take Tylenol in between. Hope this helps. Any other??? Feel free 2 ask and I will try 2 help. ## Hi Don, It might surprise you, but an astronomical number of patients dealing with chronic pain are actually prescribed these types of medications for considerably longer periods of time. I"ve read about a few people on here being on even stronger narcotics than this for 10 to 20 years like it was nothing. It's certainly not the best way to go in my opinion, but some of the dirty doctors out there re...

How are you? Who will no longer cover it, your insurance company? If so, you may want to ask them what they will cover, or ask your pharmacist. Hello, I'm wondering if it would be OK to take 2 hydrocodone/Acetaminophine 10/300 at one time. Has anyone done this? I used to take 2 5/300 when my pain was excruciating and my Dr increased my dosage, so I wouldn't have to take two pills. ## Hello, Jules! How are you? It is sometimes prescribed that way, take one or two tablets as needed, but it would be best not to do so, without your doctor's approval. If you aren't opiate tolerant, it could cause an overdose, which may put you in danger. Can I take hydrocodone/acetaminophen 10/325 tab and Gabapentin 300 mg for body aches froom cold flu? ## Hello, Carol! How are you? Gabapentin likely won't help much, it is not an actual analgesic. It's classified by the FDA as an anticonvulsant that can help with certain types of nerve pain and some mood disorders, but it takes 4 to 5 weeks to teach its full level of efficacy in the body. The Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen is an analgesic that may help, if your doctor approves of your taking it. price paid at walmart pharmacy for 30 hydrocodone/acetaminophen 5-300 mg tabs $61.08!!! ## @bushel, From your wording I can't begin to tell if you are excited or angry at the notion of paying $61.08 for 30 tabs. Is this how much a script of 30 generic Vicodin tabs usually goes for at your local pharmacy? There are a number of pharmacy price checkers that can be found on Google if you ever feel the need to compare prices from different pharmacies in your general area. I hope this helps! ## CVS is about $20. Ask for cash discount programs.

I have a tropical flavored hydrocodone-apap liquid but it doesn't say the strength?!! How much wud I need to take to equal 1 yellow 10/325 norco? It says take 1 teaspoon every 4-6 hrs for cough. Or am I way off and the whole bottle won't equal 1? Lol ## The bottle should have the amount of medication in 5 cc's on the bottle. Are there any numbers on the bottle after the name of the medication ? ## If it's hydrocodone/acetaminophen sol, it's 7.5/325 per 15 ml meaning 7.5 mgs hydrocodone, 325 Tylenol if it's the new sol, older formula has 500mg acetaminophen(Tylenol) so you would need 20ml to get 10mg. Be careful of Tylenol tho. New recommended dose is 3000mg per day. Now if its cough syrup, it's tussinex , is it super thick? That's 10mg hydrocodone per 5 m...

How often can you take Hydrocodone 5-325? ## Hello, Sky! How are you? It should be taken as prescribed by your doctor. Generally, no more than every 6 hours, so 4 a day, but many doctors prefer to prescribe it to be taken every 8 hours, for 3 times a day. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Take it as your MD says, but you can have it every 4 hours. The MD can increase the amount of hydrocodone in it. It's the acetaminophen they worry about. There is also a 10-300 out which is less acetaminophen and more pain relief if you REALLY need it. Most MDs will not Rx this now. You have to...

I just took my second dose of gabapentin 100 mgs this morning. I was also prescribed hydrocodone 10/325. Is it safe for me to take the hydrocodone if it has been eight hours ago since I took the gabapentin? I know it takes a long time for gabapentin to get out of your system and I can't be too safe when mixing medications. Thanks in advance to any help I get. ## It should be okay to take them together, if they have both been prescribed for you. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and mood changes. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Will I get the same level of pain relief from stopping norco 10-325 mg and starting 300 mg gabapentin? ## If it were me it wouldn't, but everyone's different. My daughter has been taking hydrocodone 5/325 every 4 hrs since Thurs afternoon. 24 hrs ago, her dr moved it to every 6 hrs, and she took her last one at 615pm last night (it's now 1250a). Can you switch to extra strength, OTC acetaminophen now (500mg tabs)? Or should we wait longer after her last hydrocodone dose? Please advise. Thank you! ## You can take up to 3000mg of acetaminophen in a 24hr period. Anymore than that should be under a doctor's care/advice. ## According to the FDA, their 'liver warning' goes by a maximum daily dosage of 4,000 mg within a 24-hour period. This is not to say that you shouldn't consult with your doctor first, but it should allow for substantial flexibility in your dosing. If you're currently taking 1300mgs a day (325mgs four times...
