How long does a 60 mg Op Oxycotin take to start help your pain ## Hello, Jj! How are you? It should start working about 15 to 20 minutes after taking it. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been on oxycotin 80 mg tid approx.. 14 yrs. I doesn't work as well it does not take care of my pain like it use to. The dr. even gave me about a yr ago oxycodone 15 mg aid. It still is not working .If I was put on dialaudid pills what would be the equivalentand wouldn't it help my pain? I have sever degenerative osteoarthritis all over with a total knee thus far. ## Hello, Jr! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. An equivalent dose of Dilaudid to the Oxycontin you take would be 90mgs a day and it's usually not used in such high doses. You may do better with the Fentanyl patch, it's a very potent narcotic and each patch lasts or 2 to 3 days. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, suc...

I was involved in a car accient last year and am now working with a Pain Manage clinic. I have had injections upon injections, epiderals, blah blah and now they belive it is a tear in my disc between L4 and L5. Needless to say VERY painful. The most recent visit has placed me on Oxy AGAIN. I acutally took myself off them a few months ago because the pain was not getting ANY less... actually the same if not worse regardless of how many or mg increase. At 20 mg 2 X day I said I am done and started to only take 1 them none. That was miserable... Switched Doctors.. told him all of this and what does he do .. BACK ON THE OXY.. I have found that Percocet 7.5/325 2 pills 3 X day work the best AND it I don't have bad pain I don't HAVE to take it. I am so frustrated and I have called the...

I have been taking 20 mg oxycontin 2 x per day and 20 mg oxycodone 4 x per day for chronic migraines for the last 2 years and before that we tried norco's and butran's patches but the oxy works the best. Lately it seems that the oxycotin is not lasting the 12 hrs it should and I feel myself going through withdrawal about 8-9 hours after taking one oxycotin even with the oxycodone. Does my tolerance with these medications be why the oxycotin is not lasting the full 12 hours it should? I go to see my doctor in 2 days. I am going to be out of my oxycotin tomorrow and I am scared of the withdrawal as I feel like I want to crawl out of my skin and I start flopping like a fish. I work full time and can't afford to take time off. What suggestions do you have for increasing the oxyc...

My boyfriend had an oxycotin problem when I met him. He has been clean for 2 years but Im afraid he has started using again. His back has broken out extreamly bad, he has been really tired and some what itchy. Also on his second day off of work he is on edge being a dick and then that night he complains he doesnt feel good, that his stomach is up set. Im not completely sure if these are some signs of oxycotin withdraws, but I have a bad feeling that Im on the right track. If someone could please let me know it they recognise these signs it would be greatly appreciated! ## Well, since there are no medical professionals here and this site does not know his entire medical history, we cannot really guess. However, yes, those can be some signs of use or withdrawal. The problem, of course, is...

I have been taking 16mg of Exalgo 3times daily with 3 doses of 8mg Dilaudid for break threw pain. What is a safe low amount to start of the Oxycontin. My doctor gave me 3 60mg a day and I am concerned about starting a 60mg right away. ## Hello, Dreamer! How are you? That dose of Oxycontin is slightly higher than the dose you were taking of the Exalgo. Each 16mgs of it is equal to 42.67mgs of the Oxycontin. However, you can't cut the Oxycontin to lower the dose, but you may want to ask your doctor about starting with 2 a day to see how that works for you. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Oxycontin OP is manufactured by Purdue Pharma and they are the ones responsible for the change to the formulation. It was done to try to help prevent abuse. There have, however, been many complaints about it. Many people have said it does not work as well for pain relief and there have also been reports of unusual side effects. If you are having a problem with the medication, it is advisable to report it to both Purdue ...

the old oxycotin worked great for my 6 herniaed dics but the new OP oxycotin comes no were as near the releif and a shorter pain releaf. I was on 3 80mg oc (now OP) does the liquid (or did they redo the liquid too) still act as the old OC made by perdue thank you ## Yes, we have had may complaints about the new Oxycontin formulation not working as well as the old one and that it can cause unusual side effects. I encourage everyone that has had problems with it to report it to both the FDA and Purdue, so they are aware of the issue, you can do so at the following numbers: Purdue Pharma number for drug safety/medication issues: 888.726.7535 FDA MedWatch number: 800-332-1088 And as to the liquid, no those formulations have not been changed, but they are not able to be time released, so it ...

i have been on both oxycotin 80mg and opana 40mg, i started off on opana and when they were changeing the ingred. i had to go on oxycotin 80 mg, i will always say opana 40 are alot stronger than oxycotin 80s i get alot more pain relief on opanas, i read all the time its 10mgs of opana to 30mgs of oxycotin i believe it.... ## Hello, Delta! How are you? Opana is actually twice as strong as Oxycodone, so it would take 20mgs of Oxycodone to equal 10mgs of Opana and how well it works can vary from person to person. There are other posts on here from people who had better results with Oxycontin than they had with Opana. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry ...

I have really bad back pain and I have been seeing my doctor for about three years. I have tried just about every med that there is. I finally settled with oxycodone 30mg. It has been a life saver for me. I now can work without pain. Lately, I have been experiencing it not working and that disappoints me because now I am starting to have more pain. Is it possible that I have become used to the medication and it is not working anymore??? Is 30 mg the maximum dose? I am now taking 30mg every 4-6 hours. Does anyone have any thoughts or ideas? ## Lakeka, unfortunately i had the same issues. After time, it seemed my tolerance for the oxycodone grew, and it became less and less effective. At this point, i take a 40mg oxycotin (which is time release) in the late morning along with my 30mg oxyc...

looking for the generic oxycotin, because the other make me sick and i'am dealing with so much pain ## were are oxycontin in michigan i have look everywhere ## There is currently no generic Oxycontin available on the U.S. market. Even the ones provided by Ethex Pharmaceuticals are the actual name brand, manufactured by Purdue Pharma, they are just licensed distributors. I am very sorry that you are having a problem with them. There have been many complaints that they do not work as well as the original product and that they cause odd side effects. Do the new ones have same effects? ## In theory they should, but just like when Oxycontin was reformulated, there have been people who have complained and said they do not work as well as they used to. Are there any questions or comments? ## Thank You for your honesty and I hope they work because 1400.00 is alot of money to put out on something that doesnt work but every1 is different and I would ask doctor to write a 1 week script and see but he is on vacation and has already has by scripts wrote and for me to come and sign for them this month so I am stuck, but Thank You and if you hear of somehing else that is as good as the opana 40mg then please let me know because I was on the oxycotin 80 mg and didnt...

Oxycodone was 30 mg every 6 hours or prn. Oxycotin is one 20 mg every 8 hours. It stops working at 40 mg OR 20 mg at about 5 hours.I had a RouxN Y Gastric Bypass several years ago, and my metabolism is fast. Could it be that time released pill isnt working because of the compromised gastric system?I will always need pain meds due to severe double curve scoliosis. It is so hard to deal with the doctors, yet they whistle when they see my xrays. Why is pain medication here if not for cases like mine? Im mid 50's. Been on pain meds for about 6 years. Hydro first, but they are hard on gastric systems. Oxycodone doesn't hurt the gut at all...Any advice? Thanks..By the way, I'd LOVE to get off pain meds, but it'll never happen, too old for surgery... ## Hello, Ghostgirl! How ar...
