I have had a prescription for the fentanyl patches for servere back pain 25mcg/hr, I also take xodol 10-300 mg. The patch was so much trouble to use ( not staying stuck ) I stopped using them a few months ago. But recently the pain got so bad I decided to use a few that I had left over. Not thinking about them I had a routine urine test in my doctors office. Well the fetanyl showed up. The doctor understood that it was an unintenttional error on my part since I didn't have a current prescription for them. I thought since they were prescribed to me that I could still use them. Which I found out I couldn't. He told me if it happened again he could no longer treat me. I was on 200 mg of fentanyl every 72 hrs for one month and got a urine test 12 days later. It showed up in the results but I did not take anything except my ms contin. Why did this happen? I was taking the fentanyl patch for a month at 50mcg every 72 hours. Then pain management dropped the ball and I was not able to get the patch again. My body feels achy, numb and I feel horrible!! I'm getting a Bronchoscopy and I'm wondering how long a single dose of Fentanyl stays working in my system? I'm guessing three days but I'm not sure of the dose. A pain contol doctor did a drug test. Said I had cocaine in my system and I have never ever tried/used/inhaled it ever. I have a friend that's been struggling with a drug problem, today he was chewing on exactly half of 25 mg patch and said he was starting to feel it an extreme amount. About 20 minutes later he said he was starting to feel scared because of the effects.
