Are there any generic versions of this tablet either er or direct version which contain different coloring ingredients than the original sinmet product? ## @Dr. Perry, From what I could gather, Sinemet (Carbidopa + Levodopa) by Merck Pharma reportedly contains the following inactive ingredients: hydroxypropyl cellulose + pregelatinized starch + crospovidone + microcrystalline cellulose + magnesium stearate. NOTE: FD&C Blue #2 are also present in the 10mg/100mg and 25mg/250mg dosage forms; whereas D&C Yellow #10 Lake is used in the 25mg/100mg dosage form. As far as an alternative goes, I did notice that Sandoz makes a generic Carbidopa + Levodopa (w/ the addition of Entacapone) marketed for treating similar conditions, but does have a different list of inactive ingredients: corn ...

Could the efficacy of the generic carb/entacap tab levo 125mg be different than the brand name Stalevo for treating Parkinson's? It seems that the generic form is not as effective at controlling tremors as Stalevo 125 mg. ## Hi Trisha, Certain "inactive" ingredients that may or may not be present in each brand, are actually detrimental to how the drug is metabolized and used by your body. Because everyone is different, your body may agree with one medication over the other, due to how you feel or based on whatever side effects present themselves. When you switch brand names or generics, the drug itself doesn't change, but rather the binders or fillers that they put with it. I hope this helps shed some light on why one may not be as efficient as the other, despite being t...

I read 'Parkinsons Disease treatment guide for physicians' by Dr. J. Eric Ahlskog. He discusses use of the following:Folic acid 2.5 mg(I would prefer L-methyfolate), B6 25 mg ,B12 1 or 2 mg. I have the MTHFR mutation: compound heterozygosity c.665C.>T?1268A>C. This defect may lead to early arteriosclerotic vascular disease or venous thrombosis and toxicity from medications affecting folate metabolism. Is the generic version or Aricept safe to use? The discussion about the cost of the brand Aricept does not refer to the availability of the lower cost generic which raises questions as to whether the avoidance of reference indicates the generic is not safe or reliable. ## Hello, Ginny! How are you? Yes, it has been proven to be safe and effective. It is really the exact same medication, just without the trademarked name. However, there aren't many generics available, from what I can find, only one has actually been approved, so far, though another is pending, which mans it likely isn't widely available, yet. I need a dr. in kannapolis n.c. or surrounding area that will actually help me and not look down upon me for needin klonopin.i have took them perscibed in the past and it truley makes my panic/anxiety under control,so does anyone know a decent dr. Please if you do help. ## Perhaps try a neurologist specializing in movement disorders (Parkinson's, MS, etc). Or a sleep disorder specialist. Not sure if there are subspecialists for panic attacks. You may have to go to a midsized city to find just the right one. Don't go to several however...I have heard they might think you are doctor shopping. If you work, and this problem keeps you from your daily routine, be sure to mention that. Be careful about the generic taken. I'd recommend only Actavis brand at this point.

My dad uses this medication for Parkinson's related tremors. ## How long does it take for carbo/levo to get into your system and take effect? Is this a time released medication? ## In regards to the first question for anyone looking for information in the future: Without knowing more details, such as the markings on them, there is no way for anyone to tell you who the manufacturer is, since this is a generic that is made by several different companies. I couldn't understand why the brand name fioricet, which always worked in the past, was not working today. I did some research and discovered that the previous manufacturer was Watson Pharmaceutical who were bought out by Actavis Pharmaceutical. I called the FDA to leave a msg asking if the formulation Actavis sells as the brand name is identical to the one by Watson. When I get a reply, I will post. This happened once before with one of my mother's Parkinson's meds. I learned, when the new company manufactured it, the 'active" ingredients remained the same but there was a slight difference in the inactive ingredients. In my mind that should make it a generic, but was not the case. If you have concerns/complaints, I would suggest going on the FDA website and call or ...
