Are you currently seeing a doctor for it? Gemcal DS is really a vitamin supplement, not a medication. It is often believed that some nerve pain can be caused or aggravated by a lack of certain vital nutrients. However, this is not going to work like a regular analgesic to alleviate your pain. Even if your pain is caused by a lack in a certain nutrient, it will take awhile for this to make a difference. ## initial stage of osteoartheritis of knee& ankle ## What is deference between GEMCAL DS and GAMCAL MOM??? Gemcal Ds was prescribed to my wife, about 56 years old, suffering from pain from neck, shoulder and to her knees. She took it for the first time, before taking breakfast, as advised to her. After about two hours she started feeling very uneasy, dizzy and wanting to vomit. The next day when taken, the effect was same, so she has stopped taking this medicine (Vitamin). Any comment/response to resolve this problem will be most welcome and will also be highly appreciated. Best regards. gemcal ds is prescribed by my doctor for osteoporosis for lower back pain . is it worth taking . ## This is actually just a multivitamin supplement, the regular Gemcal contains Calcitrol, Calcium and Zinc, I would guess that the DS formulation also contains something else, but I can't find any specific information on it. It will not actually treat pain, but by supplementing these vital minerals, especially the calcium, it might help prevent worsening of the Osteoporosis. Are there any other questions? ## It looks like Gemcal DS is actually supposed to contain Calcium Carbonate 1250 mg + Calcitriol 0.25 mcg, typically prescribed for osteoporosis. My doctor has advised chymonac tabs. Alongwith D-Gain & Gemcal -DS for degenerative changes in LS spine. I have constipation problem after taking these med. Pl. Advise is it side effect of these med?
