Gabapentin For Arthritis

Visited my Orthopedist and he prescribed Gabapentin as a multiple solution for differing pain. First have no cartaledge in left knee and only 50% in right knee with significant degradation of the joints bilaterally. Also having neuropathic pain in legs after sitting for 20-40 minutes in one place along with feeling of feet and legs being asleep(attributed to my diabetes) Also have shoulder pain from pinched nerve in my arms/elbows. Have been taking 325mg hydrocodone 4 times a day along with occasional extrastrength tylenol caplets to up pain relief. Took first dose of Gabapentin 250mg/5ml oral solution this morning. Hi, I've been on Gabapentin for about a year for back pain (I have DDD and arthritis in spine and back) I'm taking five pills a day...600mg each. I've recently been told by (family and friends) that this is a dangerous amount I'm on and they're worried. I do have a doctor appointment scheduled but my doctor left the practice and I'm having to start over with a new one. My previous dr NEVER discussed anything about this drug. I have chronic osteoarthritis through my whole body including my spine, plus other bone abnormalities. I have had chronic pain since I was 12 (18 yrs ago). Doctors have never taken my pain seriously until recently when I was properly diagnosed. I am now on Endep, Lyrica and Gabapentin which together helps with all my nerve pain. But even strong pain killers didn't help with my joint and back inflammation. What are the side effects and how well does this drug work for severe arthritis in your back? ## Hello, Jessy! How are you? Like any medication, it works well for some people, but not for others, since we are all different. This is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory and the FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. Hey, So my partner started taking gabapentin 3x300mg 3 times a day for rheumatoid arthritis in his feet he's only 29. He recognized this drug as something his friends use to take recreationally and we all know it effects us all differently. I recieved 100 mg capsules from Combitic Global. They are not helping my Arthritis at all. I've been taking Gabapentin for years and never experienced this before I lost my insurance. I have taken Gabapentin for over seven years for pain. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis. I recently read how Gabapentin can cause brain lapses and cause Alzheimer's symptoms. I have been experiencing forgetfulness. I want to be off of this drug and decided to quit. I was taking 1800 mgs daily and am down to taking 300 mgs daily. My withdrawal symptoms have been feeling like I am dying, terrible sweating, intense itching, nausea, stomach pain and diahrrea. I can't sleep, nightmares and headaches. I am not giving in.... I want off of this. When will these symptoms ease up (I pray they do) I will cut my pills in half and take only 150 mgs daily.... until gradually I have stopped. My doctor, also over seven years ago, put me on Cymbalta for pain. I gradually stopped taking it a year ago....

I take Co-codamol for arthritis 30/500 and Gabapentin 300mg. Is it safe to also take a low dose of Tramadol as well? I also have gout. Are there any contraindications? ## The Co Codamol contains Codeine with Acetaminophen, so no it shouldn't be taken with the Tramadol, since it and the Codeine are both opiates. The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Have spinal stenosis. Also diabetes. Some neuropathy. Had 2 epidurals and physical therapy which helped decrease pain in legs to a bearable level. Had 3 acupuncture treatments. Thought helped after 1st one but after 2nd and 3rd legs hurt more so I didn't go back. Doctor put me on Gabapentin which helps the neuropathy. One day legs started feeling like they weigh 50 pounds each which has affected my balance tremendously. So now I am wondering if possibly caused by Gabapentin. I have nerve damage, shingles, fibromyalgia, Rheumatoid arthritis, bursitis, the list goes on and on! I can't have Lyrica, Cymbalta, or Gabapentin. They are not approved , and they continue to reject the approval no matter how many request are submitted. What can I do? ## I am sorry, who is that is not approving them for you? Your insurance company?? You are not very specific in your post, so it is a little confusion. I'm looking for a pain doctor in Burlington Vermont. I have peripheral neuropathy in my feet and rheumatoid arthritis. Any one have experience using Lo Dose Naltrexone for arthritis, fibromyalga, or chronic pain ? ## I used LDN for Crohn's Disease and it was very effective in reducing abdominal pain. I used Neurontin, a synthetic analog of GABA, for nerve pain and it helped. You can buy GABA from a health food store. I hope this helps. ## Does LDN help with rheumatoid arthritis victims? ## GABA and Neurontin are not the same as far as effects. Neurontin (Gabapentin) is a Schedule IV or V prescription drug. Hi there. I have been prescribed Tramal Retard 100gm twice a day. I suffer from chronic pain from arthritis and degenerative disk disease throughout my spine. I develop stomach ulcers so cant take NSAIDS. I had terrible side effects with Lyrica and Gabapentin. I currently take Vasomil for super ventricular tachycardia and take Immovaine for sleep at night. I am only41 and can't take living in pain anymore. However I am scared to try the Tramadol too because of possible side effects. Will it interact with my current meds? I started cosentyx 3 months ago. After 5 shots in the first month I was 90% clean.. I thought that this medicine was a miracle. Then I started shots once a month and suddenly after 2 months I am as bad as I was before starting cosentyx. I have psoriasis in my feet and hands.. Are there any others with a similar experience?
