Wondering if this cream called terrasil works for folliculitis, heard it does but don't know anybody who have tired it. ## Hello, Walter! How are you? Treating folliculitis depends on what's caused it, it can be bacterial or fungal. Which it is will dictate the correct treatment. Your doctor should do a culture of one to discover the proper way to treat it. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Terrasil as possibly including skin irritation, redness and dryness. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Yes..folliculitis depends on what can caused it.. As for my experience it is bacterial. It appeared when I worked out and took an hr. to take a bath. So it started with one like pimple..and when I wash it with soap..it was irritated that it became enormous. I didn't mind...

Will percocet help with the severe pain in my swollen groin area and vulva from severe bacterial folliculitis, just to get relief for one night to sleep? ## Yes, it might. The FDA does warn that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. However, it would be best to see your doctor, so they can help resolve this issue. Are you on any other medications? How often have you experienced this condition?

I was just diagnosed with folliculitis by my family doctor an he put me on keflex and my dermatologist has me putting flouocinolone acetonide on it. Is this normal? ## Hi George, From what I could gather, folliculitis is reported to be a common type of skin condition (usually caused by a bacterial or fungal infection) in which the hair follicles can become inflamed. So it makes sense to me why you were prescribed an antibiotic such as Keflex (cephalexin) for the infection as well as Fluocinolone acetonide, which is a topical corticosteroid mainly used for reducing skin inflammation and itching. This combination of meds would essentially be attacking the folliculitis from both angles, and in my opinion, seems like an appropriate course of action. I hope this helps!

If you are currently taking Clindamycin for a staph infection, will you still continue to get small folliculitis bumps on your face, chest, neck and/or back? Or is that a sign that the antibiotic is not working a 100% and your doctor may need to switch you to something stronger to completely clear the infection? ## Hello, Misty! How are you? How long have you been taking it? In this case, it could take a few days for it to start to work to clear it up. But usually, you should start to see improvement after 3 full days of taking it. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. ## I'm on clindamycin for 3 days now and although the pain has subsided the abscess is still there. I was prescribed this medication by my dermatologist for a skin disorder that he originally thought was pityrosporum folliculitis.
