focalin addiction!!

My first semester in college was a disaster as I began at the age of 25 and only 3 months after leaving an all together different environment in the military where I served 4 tours in the Middle East. I never missed a class and yet my GPA at the end was a 1.75. I literally couldn’t absorb anything in class, fought off falling asleep more often than not, and couldn’t seem to apply my discipline to making myself sit and read. So, in the Fall of ’05 I began taking Focalin 10mg and the difference was night and day. Not only did I retain information from class, but I was able to sit down and read without losing focus, I actually enjoyed it, and my second semester GPA was a 3.63! Now it is the beginning of Fall 2008, I graduated in May, and have started an already successful......

My Battle with Focalin Addiction, Advice Needed!!!

Mark, I appreciate your comments and am in your boat as well. It has been a difficult situation to discuss with anyone. This has been going on, off and on, with me since I started my undergrad in 2000. I have been able to stop for short periods at times because I force myself to do so. I have stopped taking it a few times for more than a month or so. But it's always been during a break between my education or something. Now I am graduating with my second Post-Grad degree. I know I have to focus on living a more regimented life now and that this behavior is not only unsustainable and costly, it can be deadly. I have gotten to the point at times where I stay up for long periods. This has even led me to desire alcohol and to smoke like a phen when I take it. I don't think other peo......

I need treatment for managing an addiction of Spasmo Proxyvon ## Spasmo Proxyvon contains Acetaminophen, Dicyclomine and Propoxyphene. Propoxyphene has been pulled from the market in many countries, due to the adverse effects it has on the heart. An addiction can be a serious problem, since the Propoxyphene is a narcotic. How much have you been taking? Also, what country are you in? This may help me discover what treatment options are available for you. ## i am a 30 years old boy ihave taking spasmo proxyvon 15 tabs per day sins10 years please any bady help me how to stop the pills quickly as possible as because my condition is too bad ## im a twenty5 years old student n i"hv been using spasmov proxyvon(sp) for 6 years n i hv tried alot bt ijst cant do it its instead of me eating sp......

Addiction to pain med

My son has a very severe drug addiction to pain med. He has turned to one of the strongest on the street and is now using needles. He has really hit bottom and wants to quit. Someone told him about Suboxone and said that it would help him to break his addiction. Is it a safe drug to use to quit, or does it only replace one addiction for another? Can a family practitioner prescribe the drug if it is safe? ## I have taken Suboxone for almost 3 years now. It has saved my life. I do consitter it a wonder drug. I never used the needle, but I did have a nasty Oxycottin addiction. I would recomend Suboxone to anyone who has a opiate addiction. They have nothing to loose but the addiction. A normal family doctor can not perscribe Suboxone. He has to be a addictionoligist. Some family doctors ca......

Addiction Treatment - Provider/Dr - Info. & Resource

Hello! I would like to start a thread to help those having difficulty finding treatment for their addiction. Buprenorphine can salvage lives and stimulate positive change. But finding the right doctor can prove to be an astronomical problem. Let's help by providing cost/location/clinical information regarding addiction: providers, doctors, psychiatrists & treatment facilities. I'll start it off by giving specific info. about my psychiatrist. Dr. Nathan Strahl Durham, N.C. Cost of Visit - $150 per month - He requires patients to be seen once a month. Prescribes - Suboxone Film/Suboxone Tablet - will not prescribe Subutex. He is a dual diagnosis provider. He will write benzos & stimulants with time & proof of patient sincerity as well as need. Finding treatment can hon......

Addiction Treatment HIPAA Violation Question

I am somewhat upset about a phone call that was made to my home phone about a week ago by the doctor office I go to for addiction treatment because now someone knows that I AM receiving addiction treatment services, where I receive those services and the medication I am taking for the addiction. Let it be known that I did NOT give this doctor office consent to talk to ANYONE other than myself about my treatment, EVER. I do have roommates that I don't necessarily want knowing information about my doctor's, medication or course of treatment, it is not their business. The doctor office called my landline number very early on a Tuesday morning and I was asleep so one of my roommates answered the phone. Later in the day, I looked through the caller ID and saw my doctor's office h......

Addiction... Disease or Choice?!

Hi, I’m Herb... My question is, why is addiction considered a disease & not a choice?! I can & have quit addiction but I don’t know anybody that has “quit” cancer, heart disease or diabetes... I’m convinced that addiction is a choice, not a disease! ## Hello Herb! How are you? It is often considered a disease, since some people can inherit a genetic propensity for addiction, just like cancer, heart disease, or diabetes, according to NIH studies. If their parents, grandparents, or others in their lineage were addicts, it could make them more prone to becoming addicted to any given substance, such as drugs, or alcohol. That does not apply to everyone that experiences an addiction, of course, but it has been found to apply in the prevalence of cases. T......

Addiction to opiate pain pills.

What meds are commonly used in outpatient rehab to stop using opiate pain pills. ## The one that is most commonly used is suboxone. It is a wonderful medication that allows you to go off opiates without having to feel the horrendous opiate withdrawals. You must be off opiates at least 24 hours to take it. Having opiates in your system while taking suboxone can make you very sick, I know this from experience. Hope this helps and good luck! ## The other one commonly used is Methadone, but unlike Suboxone, many people treated with it require a lifetime maintenance dose and never become completely drug free. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. And as to the Su......

addiction to fiorinal

I need to know how to break an addiction to fiorinal ## Fiorinal contains Aspirin, Caffeine and the Barbituate Butalbital. What kind of withdrawal effects you may experience depends on how long you have been taking it and how much you have been taking. I suggest speaking to your doctor. ## Doctors recognize that both physical and pyscholgical addiction may develop from prescription medication use, even following prescribed doses. It is not your fault. Please get help from recognized addiction treatment providers, including your own doctor. One may also develop medication overuse headache or MOH from too-often used meds. Breaking this cycle may be difficult, but can be done with help. Please ask for that help :) You deserve it. God bless. ## Regular use of medication results in what is c......
