I took omaprazole last night and got very sick then my tongue and pallet swelled with my tongue burning and the roof of my mouth burning. I am allergic to FD&C yellow 5 and 6. Is this the name for yellow 10 and why do they put this into medicine when so many asthmatics have this allergy? The FDA should ban all colors in pills to help with this and make drug companies stamp the name of the drug on the pill or some other type of identification. ## No, FD&C Yellow 5 and 6, are Yellow 5, and Yellow 6, Yellow 10 is a different one, that's why they are numbered like that, to tell them apart. Many companies have been removing the colors, due to the fact that some people are sensitive, or allergic to them. The FDA didn't ban them, because overall, they are generally considered s...

Is it safe to take Ferrous Sulfate if my iron meds have expired? ## Help, Nik! How are you? I have to be honest and say that I am not certain of the safety of this one. Iron can be very touchy. You could, however, call and ask your doctor or pharmacist. Alternatively, you could dispose of them and just pick up a new supply. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hi, I'm 17 years old and I'm taking 1 tablet of Ferrous Sulfate once a day. But I'm also taking 1 1/2 tablets of Predisone twice a day and along with multiple other dosages of other medicines. Could this be the reason for the churning sick feeling in my stomach? ## I think it largely depends on what all the other medications are that you might be taking with it. Just about all prescription drugs can cause these types of side effects. Based on my research, Ferrous Sulfate does list "constipation" and "stomach upset" as side effects. It also mentions that you should tell your doctor if either of these symptoms are severe or do not go away. The only problem I see with pinpointing the culprit, is that Prednisone also lists this as side effect as well. And I can o...

I have been taking Ferrous Sulfate tablets (325 mg; 1 tablet 3 times per day) for the last month. My Hgb is still 87 and Hct 27.7 (both results are still low). These pills have been perscribed through the VA Clinic. My Family Physician says that he has had better results using the Poly Iron 150 than the Ferrous Sulfate. My question then is: If I order the Poly Iron tablets....at what dosage am I going to take them. Now taking 975 mg of ferrous sulfate and the poly iron is 150 mg. Would I take the same dosage of the Poly Iron to do any good? ## Hi Robert, How many tablets of Ferrous sulfate are you currently taking in order to reach 975mg? I think the maximum available dosage of this medication is 325mg, but please correct me if I'm wrong. Poly Iron (Polysaccharide-Iron Complex) may ...

The ferrous sulfate is just an iron supplement and the Nitrofurantoin is an antibiotic. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hello Verwon. How are you?
