Can I take Doxycycline 100 mg tablets if I have a sulfa allergy? ## Hi Carol, according to an article I read from the Mayo Clinic, Doxycycline is not listed as a sulfa drug, so you should be okay to take it as prescribed. I also cross referenced the Wikipedia page on Sulfonamides, and it too did not list Doxycycline. If you have other allergies or sensitivities, I'd just double check the inactive ingredients as well to ensure that there is nothing else in there that could disagree with you. If you can refer to the National Drug Code (NDC) printed on your prescription label it should be pretty easy to find the list of inactive ingredients. I hope this helps and feel free to write back!

What does this pill look like ## What does Doxyxyclin HYC tab 100mg look like...should it be a salmon color with a MP 37 on it ## no it should be an oblong blue ## Well first off, let me put an end to the argument by stating that once a drug is available for generic production, it can look like whatever the company making it wants it too look like. Yes, Kelly could have had an oblong blue, but that is not the only 100mg Doxycycline available. In the pharmaceutical industry, there are no guidelines as to color or how a pill has to look, it just doesn't matter. So just because it may have the same active ingredients, it does not have to look the same, you may go into one pharmacy and receive a large orange pill and at a different pharmacy across town get an oblong blue one. The only r...

This medicine that I just started taking for a spider bite says to avoid excessive exposure to direct and artificial sunlight. I'm on vacation and want to enjoy the pool. Can I lay out? ## Hi, Karenset! How are you? Doxycyline can make you more sensitive to the sun, so you may burn or get heat stroke much faster than normal. Thus, if you really want to enjoy the sunshine, it would be best to be very careful and use a heavier sunscreen than you normally would. You should also make sure to drink extra fluids, since this sensitivity could also cause dehydration. Learn more Doxycycline details here. Avoiding sun exposure would be best and you should never lay out in it, if your doctor has told you not to do so, but I do understand wanting to enjoy your vacation. Please be careful!

Does doxycycl hycl 100mg make my period late or not come? ## Hi, Kaykay! How are you? No, antibiotics aren't known to cause that. However, the infection you were taking it to treat could be the culprit. Your body chemistry and hormones tend to get thrown off in instances of illness, sometimes due to the fact that your vitamin D drops very low, especially when you have an infection. Vitamin D is actually a hormone that can have an effect on other hormones in the body. However, if you've been actively engaging in intercourse, then you should be checked for pregnancy, to be certain. Are there any other questions or concerns?
