I'm looking for a complete description on the usage and indications of Doxophylline. ## Doxofylline (also known as doxophylline) is a phosphodiesterase inhibiting bronchodilator used in the treatment of chronic respiratory diseases such as asthma and COPD to help prevent airway obstruction. ## Doxophyline is 6-8 times costlier than Etophyline & has the same mechanism of action. ## Doxophylline is used to treat asthma and COPD to help prevent airway obstruction. ## Please let me know whether Doxophyline is an antibiotic or what? ## Is this medication available in India? All xanthine derivatives have the effect on heart rate and pulse rate because of their affinity towards adenosine receptors (A1 & A2 receptors, which are present in heart to regulate the oxygen demand, in brain involve in hormone secretions, in skin, also in some other parts of body.) When these receptors are stimulated they effect on heart rate and increase the blood pressure and palpitation. Does this tablet contain steroids? Also, what are the side effects of this tablet prescribed for bronchitis/asthma? ## Doxofylline is not an steroid. This tablet contains a bronchodilator which belongs to the class of xanthine derivatives. Doxofylline is an effective medication for the treatment of bronchitis induced asthma as an add on therapy (along with inhalers or other prescribed medicine). But it is also effective as sole therapy for the management of asthma. To my knowledge, it has no serious side effects. However, Doxofylline must not be taken with any other xanthine derivative, and coffee must be avoided when taking Doxofylline because this may increase the risk of side effects like increased heart rate and palpitation.

i am taking olmetrack 20 since last 2 months. while my blood pressure was tracked it was 200/110 mm of hg. after medication of oletrack20 once from that day i am checking regularly it is coming 120/70-80 regularly. but i am not feeling good and always feeling shortness in breathing. all investigation including ecg, echo, TMT, PFT, LUNGS AND CHEST X-RAY, LIPID PROFILE, RENAL FUNCTION TEST everything results normal. i am taking as per the advice of pulmonary and cardiology expert: ATRAX 25 AND DOXOPHYLENE-A half each daily twice. i am not feeling normal in breathing. please help me in getting out of this problem soon. pH of doxophylline syrup ## Doxofylline precipitates out in syrup after opening the cap of the bottle. Even after some time left intact, the bottle can also precipitate out. How can I resolve this?
