Does Gabapentin Have Same Effect As Tramadol

Been taking tramadol for over 15 years and it generally still works. My new Dr. has cut me back from using 4 a day to using 3 a day and 1 gabapentin at night. All the gabapentin is doing is making me oversleep every day. I cannot tell that it is helping me. I have tried to get off from tramadol several times but with no success. Each time I try to stop; I am bed ridden for a couple of days. Could you tell me why the Dr. would want to cut me back from tramadol and then try gabapentin? ## No, they are not the same. My name is Sara. I've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and crohns. I take prednisone and 50 mg tramadol. I've also been prescribed cyclobenzaprine for muscle spasms. Im super sensitive to medications and im allergic to penicillin sulfa toridol, cant take nsaids as I'm allergic to shell fish. Im terrified to start the Gabapentin for spinal and nerve pain. For joint pain and potential nerve damage due to long term anxiety and panic attacks. Internal medicine put me on 8 tablets of tramadol daily and after 9 months a new doctor seriously thinks I became dependent, so he weaned me off and prescribed x3 tablets 1 morning, 1 afternoon, 1 evening of Gabapentin. I'm 3 days into it and want to feel optimistic. Will update on progress or status. Please do the same if you have been on it for awhile. Hi, 1st time on RxChat. I have been taking Tramadol for years. Have severe chronic pain. It helps w/ pain and helps my mood. I'm sure ur all aware it is now a controlled substance. I found a service from India who, at first, were dependable. Last two orders have been really late. Haven't received order from beginning of August and getting the run around. Looking into another shipper. Wondering if any of you have used OL Tramadol and what your opinion is. Also, does Gabapentin have same effect as Tramadol?
