I am a chronic pain patient who took narcotics for several years. 2 years ago I was started on non-narcs. or narcs with antagonists. I am interested in subutex as several other pain pts (out of my area) have said it really helps. Who in or around Annapolis, MD has received subutex (not suboxen) for pain? Help me find a doctor in st.clair or Macomb county to prescribe methadone. I can not take suboxen, hate it, but no methadone clinics by me ## Hi Peachy! If you need methadone for addiction issues you will have to go to a clinic. It's against the law for doctors to prescribe methadone to patients who have addictions. They can only prescibe it for pain. If you can't take suboxone, ask your doctor about subutex. It has buprenorphine in it but not naloxone.

I have been off the opiates for just over a year and lately due to stress I find myself wanting to deal with my issues by self medicating and used subutex to get clean. Suboxen gives me headaches so I need a dr in the oak ridge area who will prescribe subutex before I go down that addiction path again. I'm prescribed cephalexin for a UTI and want to start taking my suboxone strips to help with my H withdrawals. Is it safe to take the two together? ## Hi Shamana, Looking at umm.edu's drug interaction checker, I didn't see any discrepancies listed between Suboxone (buprenorphine + naloxone) and Cephalexin. So based off that information alone, I don't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to take the two together, unless instructed otherwise by your doctor. Also, as long as it was the same doctor who prescribed both meds, I think it's highly unlikely that he/she would give you two things that couldn't be used at the same time.
