i underwent a cervical discectomy in 2009, and recently i have been suffering from severe pain due to unknown complications of my surgery. the doctor i saw today prescribed me robaxin-500 mg which is a muscle relaxer and dicloxacill 250 mg which is a antibiotic. he said the dicloxacill is a very strong pain killer. i have used it as directed but have had no relief from my stabbing back and neck pain., how is dicloxacill used to treat pain??? ## No, it's not a pain reliever of any type, it is just an antibiotic of the Penicillin class. You can learn more about it here: Did you try asking your doctor about it and how he though it would help with pain?

my wife (,age 48) underwent an anterior lumbar discectomy 3 months ago.she is not taking the operation well at all. she can barely walk and the 4 mg dilauded tabs are about useless for managing the pain.we live in Westerly ri and cant find a dr that isn't afraid of narcotics. can someone recomend a dr with some balls ## Hello, John! How is your wife? What type of doctor has she been consulting? Physicians really have no choice but to be extremely cautious about prescribing such medications and, due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, if strong narcotics are required on a long-term ongoing basis, then only a specialist can prescribe them. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizzines...

I have had lower back problems since I was in high school. I needed to have a discectomy surgery when I was 25 years of age. I will be 32 this year and there is not a day that I would like to go without taking osteo bi flex. The thing about this supplement is that you will not neccessarily notice a large difference in the way you feel, that is not until you slip up and forget to take osteo bi flex for a few days. Then you will really know exactly what it does for you! This is really an amazing supplement and I would highly recomend this to anyone. ## IS IT OK TO CUT THESE PILLS IN HALF? I CANNOT SWALLOW THEM LIKE THEY ARE. ## The only time it isn't safe to cut or break a pill is if it is time released medication. There are an over the counter supplement and are not time released, so...

I have been taking Lyrica for prophylactic migraine managment as well as neuropathic pain following discectomy of T8-9 and T10-11. I was previously on gabapentin and noticed cognitive sxs, and minimal effects for pain. After starting Lyrica, I almost immediately noticed decreased pain...I thought it was a miracle! I also had decreased migraines. Now that I have been on Lyrica 100mg BID, my weight gain has become unmanagable. I have gained 40 lbs, and I am only 5'3. I weigh more now than I did when pregnant with any of my children. I have also experienced many of the side effects mentioned in the discussion boards. I told my Dr. that I wanted to get off of it due to so many problems. He gave me a tapering schedule, but the first time I started decreasing my dose, I have started havin...

Please help! (Long read but I am a single mom & don’t want to withdraw around my kids) I’m 26, have chronic pain, and been on Oxycodone for two years. I had an anterior cervical discectomy on my neck January 2014. I've been up & down on my doses since the surgery. Hydrocodone 10s to Roxicodone 15mg. A month ago, my pain was under control and almost gone. My pain management doctor & I decided to wean me off of the medication slowly. I cut down from Roxi 15s 5x per day to Oxy 10HCL 4x per day. I had a flare up when taking my two kids to the zoo, took more than prescribed & was allowed to refill a few days early. They gave me a month’s supply. This was two weeks ago. My pain was still flared & I continued to take the same dose as if I was still on ...

I am currently living in Lansing, MI and have been suffering from low-back pain for many, many years. I've been on several different medications, as well as being completely off medications following a laminectomy/discectomy. A few years ago I moved to Las Vegas, but since I've returned to Michigan, I've had a really difficult time finding a doctor that is either helpful or compassionate. Both doctor's I've been to says the CDC is no longer allowing them to prescribe to any patient unless they have cancer OR they were already an established patient when the new CDC recommendations came down. Does anyone know of a doctor I can go to that is willing to set up a reasonable treatment plan? I used to be active, and now all I can do is sit around in pain. HELP PLEASE!!! ##...

Can someone please tell me why I am having such bad reactions to OC (the usual itching, nausea and vomiting). I am vomiting 5-6 time a day, and find it extremely difficult to keep anything down, even water. I have been prescribed OC 80mg for severe disc protrusion, awaiting surgery, subsequent to a double discectomy and laminectomy (lumbar). I am aware that opioids can adversely affect people who are not tolerant, but for me, this is not the case. In the past I have had Diamorphine and Fentanyl 75 with no issues, not even withdrawal. Can anyone throw any light on this for me. They are great for the pain, but I can no longer handle the side effects. ## In addition to this post, when I vomit from the meds, I often end up vomiting the pill which then has no effect on the pain. With respect...

I was just Rx'd Provigil (modafinil), which is a mild stimulant for Narcolepsy, Sleep Apnea, and Shift Work Sleep Disorder. In my case, it's for mixed sleep apnea and Hypersomnia, (which is similar to Narcolepsy). Well, I am currently scheduled to have a lumbar L5-S1 DISCECTOMY. Consulting w/ the Neurosurgeon and agreeing to surgery was around 3 days AFTER I started taking the Provigil (modafinil). The Neurosurgeon Rx'd oxycodone/APAP 10-325 for pain control in the meantime...oh surgery is in 3 weeks. Here's the real question. I have ALWAYS been a strange opiate metabolizer when it comes to Pro-Drugs or drugs that rely on being broken down by specific liver enzymes in order for the REAL effective metabolites to do their magic. For instance, and I apologize if this is com...
