My boyfriend is taking 2mg generic for Dilaudid for a knee replacement. He had no problems in the hospital with the brand name drug, but is having horrible headaches since coming home and using the Generic. Does it make sense that the generic can cause this? ## Dizziness, lightheadedness, drowsiness, & nausea are all listed as common side effects associated with Dilaudid (Hydromorphone), no matter whether it's generic or not. However it is likely the different inactive ingredients (binders/fillers) of the generic version we're probably what triggered the onset of those headaches. I'd also keep in mind that generic medications can contain up to 20% more or less of the actual active ingredient - compared to the amount found in brand names. For some people, these subtle dif...

Can I take these together with my blood pressure medicine clonidine amlodipine and losinopril ## Hello, Kizzma! How are you? Has your doctor prescribed all of them? The only real concern that I've found is that the Xanax and Dilaudid both cause sedation, so you should be aware of it and watch for any danger signs, such as extreme sedation, dizziness, or trouble breathing. Dilaudid is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I was diagnosed with spinal stenosis nine years ago. I've had a lamectomy, a spinal fusion, and numerous outpatient surgeries since then without success. I've been prescribed methadone HCL (30 mg every 12 hours); Valium (5 mg every 8 hours); Butalbital ((APAP-CAFF 50-300-40 every 8 hours for headaches complicated by these opiate combinations); and dilaudid (16 mg every 8 hours) since then. It is important to know that I have a high level of tolerance to these opiates. In fact, even with these prescriptions my pain score is consistently 7-8/10. As of late, surprisingly, within 15-20 minutes of taking dilaudid I experience strong heart palpitations, which go away within 20-30 minutes of deep breathing and lying down with my legs elevated. However, I'm now really worried and af...

I know they were bought out by Purdue. But why do you need different generic pills for the same exact strength??? ## Hello, Amber! How are you? Sometimes the company listed on your pharmacy bottle aren't the actual manufacturers, they are just licensed distributors. Thus, it is always best to go by the imprints, rather than the pharmacy label. I used 8mg of subutex yesterday approximately 10 in the morning. It is now 4:20 in the afternoon the following day. When can i take dilaudid again and feel its effects? ## @mammonal, From what I could gather online, it'll likely depend on how long you've been using either medication for. However due to Buprenorphine's long half-life, most comments I've seen suggest waiting at least 3 days or more before interchanging between the two (basically until you feel the onset of withdrawals). This period of time should allow you to get the most out of your Dilaudid when you do end up taking it. I hope this helps! ## I have been clean for 6 months. Our daughter has advanced stage IV double lung cancer which has metastasized all throughout her body. She is now on IV dilaudid for her severe pain. Works very well. Thank you. ## Dilaudid is a potent opiate narcotic that is used to treat severe pain. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Not being a doctor, I really can't speak as to her outlook, cancer is much more complicated to treat and eradicate, once it has metastasized. Can you take dilaudid when wearing a butran patch ## Hello, Chuck! How are you? Butrans doesn't contain the opiate blocker Naloxone, but other opiates may not have much effect, because Buprenorphine tends to cling much stronger than they do to your opiate receptors. Has your doctor prescribed the Dilaudid for you? The FDA classifies this medications as being narcotic analgesics, so they carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation.

On day 4 of cold turkey Dilaudid withdrawals. Severe back pain sufferer. Was on 24mg/day for about 18 mos. Brutal. So tired I can barely move, add to that the back pain with limited muscle support and you start to get the picture. Worse symptoms have been diarrhea, insomnia, headaches, mental strangeness and I'm in too much of a general fog to remember what else. Only reason I've slept at all in the past 3 days is Temazepam. But at best an hour or two at a time. Not a natural narcotics lover. No pain, no drugs. Have Diaz and Temaz for a general insomnia problem anyway. Plus if you don't sleep and have a pain problem you're toast. To be completely honest, my doctor is a total F***ing A****le and a quack. I live in a rural area and there's no choices except this idiot ...
