Can a mspain management Doctor in mississippi prescribe more than one hundred oxycodone along with nintey morphine one hundred mg. ## Hello, Troy! How are you? Actually, under the new DEA directives, they are requested to limit patients to no more than the equivalent of 120mgs of Morphine a day, some states have lowered that even further to no more than the equivalent of 100mgs of Morphine a day. The only exceptions are supposed to be for those that have a potentially fatal illness, such as stage 4 cancer. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Thus, you're actually among the rare people that are still being prescribed such h...

oxycodone prices have doubled in less than 30 days in tenn. rumor has it that the manufacturers ,being top 8 have been sold an now there is only 1 producer of this product! ## It's not that there is only one manufacturer, now. That is only relevant to the name brand time released product, Oxycontin. The current problem stems from the fact that each year the DEA sets a manufacturing limit on how much of any controlled substance can be made and distributed. The figure is based on prior year prescriptions, as well as information from the FDA and the manufacturers, once the total amount is determined, it is split between the manufacturers. Usually, this gives a very good idea of how much the market will demand in the upcoming year and helps minimize how much is out there to be stolen an...

I was told by a pharmacist that the manufacture's are trying to alter the drug. The goal by the DEA or the manufacturer is to prevent the selling of the drug on the streets. ## The current difficulty in obtaining the medication actually has nothing to do with attempts to alter it. The reason is due to the fact that the DEA uses a special formula each year to set a manufacturing limit on all controlled substances. The formula is based on how many legitimate prescriptions were issued in the prior year, as well as as information from the FDA and the manufacturers. Normally, this gives a good picture of how much will be needed to fill prescriptions in each new year. However, as more doctors prescribe a medication, this can sometimes put a strain on the supply, which is also affect by th...

Hello, I have been prescribed Oxycodone Acetaminophen 5-325 for pain. Which I'm guessing is 5mg of oxycodone. I took two pills at 1pm. How long should I wait before I can a beer? Just one beer. ## Hi Omar, According to umm.edu as well as other drug interaction checkers, alcohol and oxycodone have a "high potential" for drug interactions. This interaction goes on to state that taking the two together should be avoided due to an increased risk of serious side effects, including but not limited to: Trouble breathing, low blood pressure, fainting (coma), respiratory distress, many of the symptoms/side effects/impairments that come with actually being drunk, and even death. Having read all that, it seems to me like it would probably be best to just stay away from “any amoun...

I recently had surgery but have suffered for years with chronic back pain. I have a legitimate prescription and insurance for my Oxycodone 10/325 but can't find a pharmacy to fill it anywhere (I live in Brandon). Can ANYONE help me locate a pharmacy that won't say they are out of stock and on back order? Thank God I'm not addicted so I'm not having with drawls but I am in major pain! PLEASE HELP! Thank you! ## I'm sorry you are having such difficulties, I know it's absolutely miserable to be in pain. However, at this time, they are on back order and most pharmacies don't have any in stock. There is usually a shortage towards the end of the year due to the mandatory manufacturing limits that are put in place by the DEA and FDA. Learn more Oxycodone details her...

im cant find any drug stores taking new pain contracts in knoxville tn,if anyone has any info please email me ## HI, Wanda! Sorry about the problem that you're having. Do you have insurance? If so, then I'd suggest contacting them to see if they have a mail order pharmacy that you can use. That might make it easier to get your prescription filled. Learn more Oxycodone details here. Though they weren't being enforced for quite a long time, there are actually limits on how much of any controlled substance a pharmacy can order in and have in stock each month and earlier this year, the DEA started cracking down to enforce these limits. This has caused many pharmacies to have to refuse new customers for such medications, since once they are out each month, they are out and cannot...

I have a script for 90 oxycodone 30 mg. I can not find a pharmacy that carries them. Does anyone know of a pharmacy that stocks them? ## It really isn't that the pharmacies don't carry them, it's that there is a current shortage, so most do not have a current stock of Oxycodone to use to fill your prescription. The DEA sets a limit on how much of any controlled substance can be manufactured in a year, it's based on information from the manufacturers, the FDA and the prescriptions from the prior year. However, the length of time the supply lasts for the year can be affected by various things, such as how many prescriptions have been written, theft and diversion. So, some years, the supply ends up being exhausted and that is the current situation. The only suggestion I can...

My Pain Mgt Dr. has been reducing my Percocet 10/325 mg pills down from 6/day to 3/day and my Kadian 20 mg pills down from 4/day to 3/day! I have been on this drug regimen for 7 yrs. due to a poor outcome from my last lumbar fusion surgery. I have heard that the DEA is requiring that all doctors must wean their patients down off of ALL opiate pain meds. Can you inform me of possibly any new developments in pain meds that would be accepted by the DEA??? Thanks so much. ## Hello, Doug! How are you? No, they don't have to take people off of all pain medications, however, they have been directed to limit how much is prescribed per day to any patient that does not have a possibly fatal illness, such as stage 4 cancer. It's been requested that no one else be given more than the equiva...

I am looking for a pharmacy in Hernando County (spring hill area) that will fill my Rx of Oxycodone 30mg (120). I am paralyzed and wheelchair bound and have been to 15 pharmacies all who are out any suggestions on where to try? Thanks ## Hello, Scotty! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're having a problem getting your prescription filled. Have you found them, yet? We are now into the time of year when shortages usually occur, due to the DEA mandatory manufacturing limits on controlled substances. Once each manufacturer reaches their limit, they cannot manufacturer any new product, until after the new year. According to the FDA, this is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth...

According to several pharmacists, with whom I speak, their IS a shortage of Oxycodone-as the DEA is going ape-s*** once again and ANYONE CAN STILL BUY THEM ON THE STREETS, but I, in Chronic pain for 12 years have to exhibit "drug seeking behaviour" in order to fill my LEGITIMATE rx! -I'm 55, walk w/a cane and am in BAD shape-WHY AM I BEING PUNISHED? WHAT HAVE WE LET HAPPEN-HERE? ## You aren't being punished. Unfortunately, shortages are very common this time of year for most narcotic opiates due to mandatory manufacturing limits. Each manufacturer is only allowed to make a certain amount of them each year and then they have to cease production until they receive their new allotment number in the new year. This is done to help keep better track of the supply to try to pre...

I just relocated and have been on oxycodone for over 15 years with no issues. Just want to continue on this as it's worked with no side effects. Already had the epidural, trigger shots, tens unit, etc routes. Management is what I am looking for and an understanding Dr. Thank you. ## Hasn't your doctor given you any names of doctors in your new city? My guess is you'll be S.O.L. Doctors are all scared to death of the DEA. The CDC puts a notice out for recommendations on what the limit should be per day... these are recommendations, not laws! Doctors need to stand up for their positions and now cower down to what the government tells them to do because a bunch of people abuse drugs it doesn't mean everyone does. ## There is no way to guarantee that any doctor will prescrib...

I keep seeing there is a new limit on how many can be written each month but so far I haven't seen the limit just that their Doctors have changed their prescription. Can anyone tell me amount per month ## Hello, Sissy! How are you? The DEA put forth new directives to doctors to not prescribe more than the equivalent of 120mgs of Morphine a day and some states have further lowered that to no more than the equivalent of 100mgs of Morphine a day. At the 120mg limit, that would be 80mgs of Oxycodone daily, or 66.67mgs at the 100mgs a day limit. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Going further, most doctors will not write for ...

My fiance has permanent spinal cord and nerve damage from a spinal fusion surgery in 2001. He was a very active, happy, outgoing person, now he lays in bed 24/7 and suffers. He has been on meds for a very long time and they have had to increase them due to his tolerance level. he has gone to the same Dr. and we have always used the same pharmacy. Today we went to his monthly visit and his Dr. said she had to cut his 360 methadone to 180, and his 240 30 mg oxycodone to 180. because the DEA has decided this is what he should take. She did not want to do it, but said the pharmacy would not fill it. We tried but she was right. they would not fill it. So we went back and got the 180 scripts but then she would not even fill those. His Dr.appt was on a Tuesday last month because of the holiday...

My PM Dr is telling all patients he can no longer write Oxycodone beginning Jan 2017 because the DEA is controlling the supply and it will be virtually impossible to find. Does anyone know more about what is going on? I'm in Atlanta GA and I have had chronic pain since 2009 and have no idea what I will do. ## This is correct, the DEA is reducing the amount of almost all schedule 2 pain medications manufactured and available in the U.S. by 25% or more starting in 2017, this information was published in the Federal Register and a press release from the DEA itself. That doesn't mean it's going to be impossible to find, but it may become much more difficult, since that will also further limit the supply that any pharmacy will be able to have in stock each month. Sadly, I can onl...

I've seen several websights selling what they say is Oxycodone, are they generic or what? Most if not all are in some other country. ## Oxycontin is oxycotin, there is NO generic. Believe me I have asked many pharmacy's. The new ones, thanks to our junkies out there, don't work! Now I get to be in pain 24/7. And please don't reply about subsititues, I have liver disease so I am very limited to any other drugs out there. Unless they go back (and they don't intend to) this is what we have been dealt. ## Check again Wtran1.....the real thing is still out there only sold by Ethex Pharm. As far as I could find out they are still in business. ## As to foreign pharmacies, yes. they can have a generic. The U.S. cannot enforce proprietary patents outside of our borders, so co...

Can anyone please give insite as to why the D.E.A. is not letting any shipments of OXICODONE to ANY pharmacy's untill after thier count, & after the 1st of the year (2012)? THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION. ## It's a regulation that applies to all controlled substances, not just Oxycodone. It is also isn't a limit that the pharmacies can order in, it's an overall manufacturing limit. Each year the DEA sets a limit on how much of a controlled substance can be manufactured, such as Oxycodone, Xanax and Adderall. The figure is reach based on the prior years demand, as well as information from the manufacturers and the FDA. Once a figure is reached, it is then split between the various manufacturers and usually it is a good way to predict demand for the upcoming year, wh...

Hello, my husband is taking 5 Percocet 10/325 in 6 hours. I'm afraid it is going to kill him. He has abused them also. It worries me and he fusses with me when I confront him about it. Should I be concerned? ## Yes, you have a valid reason to be concerned. Not only is that a high amount of Oxycodone to take, but the Acetaminophen in them is an even bigger concern. The limit should be no more than 1,000mgs every 8 hours and no more than 3,000mgs in any 24 hour period, anything over that risks overdose toxicity, which may be fatal! It can cause liver damage, or failure, which could result in death, as reported by the NIH. If he is taking that many at once, he needs help and his doctor should be informed of the situation. How often does he take that many?

My Dr prescribes 20mg oxycodone on a monthly basis for my chronic pain. I've been having to take a UA every month when I go to see him. Is this normal practice? I don't abuse the pills. He will only prescribe 75 20 b mgs per month. This is not enough to control my pain but it at least lessens it. Should I find a different dr? I've been a patient there for 5 years. Thx. ## Most doctors will require UA's, now, when a patient is on a controlled substance. They want to make sure that you're taking it, as prescribed and not selling them. They also want to make sure that you aren't taking anything that hasn't been prescribed. Additionally, there are limits on how much they can prescribe, these were put in place by the DEA last year and that also applies to all doct...
