Ip 272. Is a generic for Bactrim DS. Treats all symptoms listed from other comments. The one thing everyone forgot to mention is that it also treats moderate to severe acne and cystic acne. Amazing how my skin cleared up since I have been using the drug. Remember to take In morning and night, preferably with food if you have a sensitive stomach, and plenty of water. I noticed after taking the drug for awhile that I did have joint pain, but other than that it works amazing.. ## @Fiat, It may help with acne as an off-label use, but the only problem I see that could stem from long term use is that, without having an actual infection to treat, this could create antibiotic resistance to the point where if you did have an infection it may end up becoming much more difficult to eradicate than ...

I am 25 and have been on Keppra for about 2 years. I have not had any seizures since last January but I have developed SEVERE cystic Acne. I had some acne when I was young but this is scaring and distoring my face and neck? This is not listedas a side effect but I didn't have this before and it is the only medication I take. I sa on some blogs that others has similar issues is that true. ## The side effect information that you receive from the pharmacy or find on the monographs on our site are just abbreviated versions, only required to list the first so many prominent side effects, there are usually many more that you will only find if you specifically look for the 'full prescribing information' or 'physicians prescribing information. Here's the link to one: ## Toda...

I took a 75mcg and later 50 mcg regimen of Levothyroxine for 3 months beginning last Thanksgiving (2013). I have always had the clearest skin of anyone I've known until taking this medication when I began developing cystic acne. After telling my doctor of the acne, he promptly told me that he'd never heard of such a side effect and recommended that I go see a dermatologist for some face wash (!). I didn't, I stopped going to that BS doctor, and I stopped taking the meds. That was at the end of February. It is now the end of August and the acne has yet to subside. I've read other forums where many of the people who've stopped the meds had their acne subside but mine is persistent! The meds have seriously messed with my hormones and I really don't know what to do o...

Personally i think accutane does wonders. I had severe cystic acne all over my back and face. I have been on it for about 5 months now my face is completely clear and my back is 80% there. You must take certain precautions. Drinking water is extremely important and it is also very good to take a few days break every month. Lip moisturizer and sun block is very important too. I always moisturize. You can go to the beach but make sure to take care of your skin. Always use sun block until your body adjusts to the sun. I always put a base coat of 30 spf and then some light tanning lotion with spf 15. Your skin becomes really clear. Do not drink alcohol. It is very hard to avoid alcohol esp. if you are taking it as a teenager because all your friends do it. But it defeats the purpose of accu...

I suffer from cystic acne and I use topical clindamycin but I found some penicillin cream in a Hispanic store and I was wondering if I could use it like I do the topical clindamycin? ## If you are allergic to Penicillin, it would be best not to use it in any form. There is a possibility of experiencing allergic reactions, even if you just use it topically. Cystic acne is usually treated with oral antibiotics, which the FDA lists as possibly causing side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you! I thought I would be but u wanted to make sure before I would try it... I've used the pills but this time the doc gave me the cream... I'll talk to him to see if he might want to prescribe it...

I was recently prescribed Minocycline for some cystic acne, I ended up in the ER with a severe allergic reaction that required more than 1 injection of epinephrine. I'm aware that I have a sulfa allergy but has anyone ever heard of Minocycline causing an allergic reaction for those who have sulfa allergies? Is Minocycline safe to take if you have a sulfa allergy? I need serious responses only please! ## These allergies may not necessarily be related, according to NIH reports, those who are allergic to one medication, or substance, often find others that they are also allergic to, and must avoid in the future. What type of allergic symptoms did you experience? I am assuming they must have been severe, if they resorted to epinephrine, instead of just Benadryl/Diphenhydramine. We were ...

My son started with acne at the age of 15 and it got progressively worse. He is now 18 and has suffered with cystic acne for the past 2 1/2 years. We tried everything and nothing worked. He did not want to go through this anymore and he decided to try Accutane. I asked him to try seeing a doctor of Chinese medicine, and if it didn't work I would get the Accutane for him. The doctor told him that if he followed his instructions, it would have a good chance of working. He also said that if he didn't see a difference after the first 2 weeks, that it wouldn't work at all. I felt that the doc was very honest. So this is his routine. First, we had to change his diet. As much organics as possible, no dairy, no processed foods, no fried foods, no red meat. Also, try to follow a diet...

My Dermatologist suggested that I take xorimax for 4 months to clear my severe acne. I have cystic acne as well as white heads and black heads. I can't take accutane as I am planning to start a family. I was just wondering that isn't that a very long dose of antibiotics. Any suggestions? ## I went through 5 rounds of accutane in my 20's. I had severe bloody noses several times, and what could only be described as clenching headaches one evening that started on one side and moved to the other in an intense throbbing sensation. My dermatologist said it was a precursor to a stroke. After being diagnosed with OCD, going home and reading about it, and realizing stress is just the failure to adapt, I began to sleep better and my acne got better. I also highly reccomend the book (o...

I'm really hoping someone who has some knowledge on this sees this. My sister has Crohn's disease, unfortunately she's in the 3% who have a life threatening kind. Her specialist put her on Remicade, which has a lot of side effects like making ur cystic acne waaayyy worse. That is no problem for her because the side effects for medication she's been on in the past would be horrible like chandeliering her bones. Peices of her bones would break off and get caught between the skin and try to stick through the skin. She's been on pain medication ever since i can remember, i couldn't imagine her not ever needing it considering her bowels and intestines are all cut up on the inside which leads to infections like abscesses. Our doctor recently got in trouble for some stu...

I took accutane at 12-13 years old.. I am currently 16 years old with NO side effects and NO reason to hate accutane. This drug saved my life. As a teenage/preteen girl, I went to the pool with my friends and never took my shirt off because I was scared to show my acne covered skin. Now I am confident with my body. I was on accutane for 6 months straight with cystic acne all over my face, back, and chest. Do not listen to the ones blaming accutane for all of your medical issues. People just DEVELOP medical issues. Part of being human beings. This was a miracle drug. Go for it if your acne is bad. You won't regret it. I couldn't say enough great things about it. ## Hello, Hannah! How are you? I'm very glad that this medication worked so well for you. However no, people don...

I am a 41 year old Family Doctor who requires 2 seizure medications. Topamax 200mg BID has been my mainstay for almost a decade. I have tried (in addition) Depakote, Lamictal and several others. Now Keppra. Although my seizures are controlled, I have developed the most severe cystic acne I have ever seen. Face, ears, neck, chest...incredibly painfully. These cysts have started blocking my tear ducts--my eyes are terribly swollen in the morning. I feel the tracts of these cysts up both nostrils. I have tried everything over the counter, all prescription remedies (Retin-A, minocycline, doxycycline) All to no avail. In addition to the acne, I (who consider myself an even-tempered, non-confrontational human) have become the most hostile, angry person....to the point I cannot stand myself. H...

My daughter was prescribed accutane on 2 separate occasions at age 16. She is now 26 and for the past 3 years we have had her go to every doctor, specialist possible. Blood works always seems to be ok . She can not keep weight on her joint always ache she has had bone growth issues,( Left side Jaw has become larger) . She now has a recurrence of cystic (mild) acne coming on. She goes out in the sun and never tans. We have checked her for everything and they say she is fine. That's my daughter and she suffers. Any help would be like gold to us. Could this have anything to do with accutane. ## Have you checked out the Accutane Side Effect thread on here yet? I think you may find a lot of questions and answers there to many of the long term effects of this drug (including lawyer inform...

I am currently a 17 year old male and senior in highschool, and suffered from acne for over 5 years. In 8th grade acne started invading my face. Freshman year it continued, and would not go away. We tried creams, pills just about anything you could possibly try. My sophmore year is when it erupted. Acne started forming on my back and chest, and I literally had boils on my back and chest. It was very painful. I also play football, and it hurt very bad to put on my shoulder pads, and the embarassment to even take my shirt off in the locker room after practice. It caused me a lot of stress. It hurt to take showers because the water would hit these boils. I had cystic acne. I had over 15 large pimples/boils on my back and chest both. This continued for another year. As I still tried creams,...

I went this medication when it first came on the market in 1982. Yes, it cleared up my acne but I truly believe that this drug made me infertile. Does anyone know the stats on accutane causing infertility? As I have had 3 endoscopies and a colonscopy before the age of 43. I have chronic heartburn and problems with my bowels. One doctor indicated that I had IBS but I never was officially diagnosed nor was the accutane indicated for my infertility issues. I guess I'm screwed sice that statue of limitations is up for me of course I didn't know about all these issues up until a few years ago. I am very concerend though about my nephew-He is 18 and is on accutane. He has horrible cystic acne and nothing has worked for him. Last I saw him, His face looked really good-My concern is for...
