Trying to get off oxy OP 20's. I've been taking about 2 a day for the last 6 mos. If I cut 1 in 4s with a pill cutter. at what rate and what amount (mgs) would 1 piece of that pill deliver? Thanks to any1 who can help! ## They are time released, so cutting the tablets is actually not safe, because it could result in your getting too much of the mediation, at once. If you want o lower your dosage, you should consult your doctor about doing so, they can prescribe lower dosage tablets, or ones that are in a different formulation that would be safe for you to cut up, as needed. Are there any other questions or comments?

Can you break the methadone 10mg into half?? ## Dear Samantha, yes, u can break them in half. It might b easier 2 get a pill cutter. They work great. U can get them at cvs or pretty much any pharmacy. They r sold over the counter. ## Yes as far as I know, personally have broken in half over ten years. Have chronic pain and when I was not in as much pain I often only took half (5 mg.). Contact your pharmacist first, if you call your Dr. they might decrease dose, feeling you don't need as much, I am assuming you take for pain relief. If so may days you will need dose prescribed. Wish that was my problem, after ten yrs. a new doctor said I abused, took other non-prescribed drugs and street pills. Without one blood-urine examination, so not one Dr. Will prescribe me even my meds. For Ga...

oval white pill with 509 on one side and a slash on the other side ## white oval tablet 509 and center cutter on other side ## This tablet contains 40mgs of Citalopram, which is an SSRI class antidepressant. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and weight changes. You can learn more Citalopram details here. Are there any comments or questions? Is there anything I can help with?

Have been taking 30 mg of oxycodone. Went to a different pharmacy to fill. It is a blue pill the only marking on the pill is K 9. Normally will split the pill with a pill cutter. It tends to shatter when I do this the other pills normally would split clean. Relief is not as effective as the other prescription. Wondering if the new pharmacy gave me the wrong dosage. Markings on the bottle are correct, wondering if they made a mistake. ## Hello, Mike! How are you? This tablet is manufactured by KVK Tech Inc. and they list it as containing 30mgs of Oxycodone in a regular release formulation. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Are you cutting along the score ...

Hello I have been taking a blue oval lisnopril 10-12.5 hctz once day. Can I cut this dose in half as I feel that dose is to high for me. There is no score line but have a pill cutter.. ## Ask your Doctor he/she may have something better in mind for you. Don't be doing such things on your own unless ;you are your own MD. ## I'm not suggesting you do this without discussing it with your doctor first, but I will say that cutting a pill in half to take a smaller dosage should not be a major concern as long as the tablet is not an extended/time-released formula. The notion that doing such a thing may be harmful without a doctor's supervision or say so, is "not always true" in my experience. In cases like this, taking the full dosage or tablet more than likely presents a g...

I am taking oxycodone hcl 10 mg tablets. my pharmacist filled a new script with np 12 brand. I occasionally divide them to dose only as needed; which does not work very well. They dulled my pill cutters. Is this normal? Does anyone else have this problem? ## Hello, Dust! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you've had. No, that is a new one that no one else has mentioned, at least not yet. Are you making sure to line it up and cut with the little scores that are on the tablet? That usually makes it easier, since that's where they're intended to be cut or broken. The FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation...

I have 10 mg Vesicare pills and I only need to take 5 mg. I would like to cut them in half. They are not scored. I know that I can break them with my nails. Do pharmacies sell pill cutters. Thank you. ## As long as a medication is not time released and your doctor/pharmacist has not instructed you otherwise, then it is safe to divide pills. You should double check the tablets you have, just to be certain, with a pharmacist. Have you tried contacting them? As to pill cutters, yes they do sell them, there are many different ones available, price depends on the type you want.

When you break a norco in half is it difficult? And is it possibly fake if it ends up breaking too easily? ## Hello, Warren! How are you? I've always known them to break easily and never had to use a pill cutter, but I suppose it can vary from manufacturer to manufacture. Can anyone else chime in? The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## I just broke a norco in half and it was kind of easy. Is it fake? ## My bf has 176 pills and they break easily in half. they look real but after he took 2 in the morning and 1 more in the afternoon he said he felt nothing like a m367 pill or Watson? Is it possibly fake or what? ## If the man...

My 73 yr old husband was just put on Lisinopril 5 mg daily in addition to the half-tablet of 25 mg HCTZ he's been taking. The pharmacy gave him 10 mg Lisinopril which he is to cut in half but it is not designed to cut. When I try to cut it with the best pill cutter I could find, many of them us crush or cut unevenly. What can I do? I end up with a handful of crumbs that are not usable. ## Your best bet in this case, would be to crush the tablets, divide the crushed powder in half as nearly as you can and then just mix it in something such as juice or pudding. It is well known that when breaking or cutting a tablet you may not always get the full half a dose that you are supposed to, being a little off is not going to affect anything. ## I had the same issue. What I did was I contact...

These pills are about 3 quarters of an inch, oblong, & scored down the middle. The '4' is on one side of the score and 'LC' on the other side of the score. The other side of the pill is unmarked. I found 2 of them cut in half in my pill cutter.

My friend came across some pills in a friend of hers purse, and we cannot figure out what they are. Her friend said that they were Lortabs, but I have never seen a Lortab that looked like this. It is shaped just like a Lortab, but it has the numbers 93-490 just like that on it, and no pill cutter. If any one has an idea of what it is I would greatly appreciate your help. ## This tablet contains Acetaminophen 650 mg + Propoxyphene Napsylate 100 mg (NDC 67296-0378). Inactive Ingredients: - Castor Oil - Colloidal Silicon Dioxide - Hypromelloses - Magnesium Stearate - Cellulose, Microcrystalline - Povidone - Starch, Corn - Stearic Acid - Crospovidone Ref: DailyMed ## I found a white pill with 93-490 numbers on it and have no idea what it is, I have tried searching and searching to find out...

Have been using 5 mg. Want to reduce, but 5 mg pills are too difficult for me to split, Therefore, I need a source for the various mg options. I have cancer and might need to increase later, so need a reliable source, preferably makers and wholesalers. Reason: to tell my retailer where to get the stuff. ## Felix-Good news! Pill cutters are available at the pharmacy for a few dollars and cut ANYTHING! !

Got a 20 mg Cialis prescription. Tried to split them with my regular pill splitter but it crumbled pretty badly. Any suggestions or special splitter since they are oval shaped? Dr said to split them long ways. Does it matter? ## No, it won't matter which way you split them, the only thing I can suggest is to pick up one of the really good pill cutters that are available, your pharmacist should be able to point you to a good one. The FDA warns that the typical side effects of this medication may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, runny nose and priapism. Is there anything else I can help with?

I just got the above prescription and it is not scored like my other bottle. Sometimes I take only half the pill and now I don't know what to do. Can I cit them in half? Unfortunately, it's 90 day supply and its gonna be hard to cut without crushing. ## Yes, they are still regular release tablets, so you can cut them in half. What I would suggest doing is picking up a pill cutter/splitter from your local pharmacy, there are some that are specifically made to use with these types of pills that have no score line to help make sure you can cut them in half more accurately and easily. I've had to do it and picked one up from my pharmacy for less than $3 and it has a section that's shaped like a V that sits below the blade, so it can securely hold pills of various sizes. It c...

Little blue tablet with RIMA on one side and then the other side has 10 on top half and D on bottom. (with a line dividing top and bottom) This pill is not coated. ## I can't find a listing for this, was it found in the US or elsewhere? ## Yes, it was from the US. I have looked and looked. I think it is a Valium, but I am not positive. I am out of my script for mine and found this in my pill cutter. I am assuming it is from a previous prescription of it, but I don't want to take it if I'm not positive. ## RIMA is the name of a pharmaceutical manufacturer in Ireland which was acquired by Ranbaxy awhile back. The pill which you have described is reportedly Diazepam 10 mg (generic Valium). I am also guessing that your pill is a bit older ? Please reply if you have any other det...

I need to be responsible with my Xanax taking and have got used to .25 doses. Why did DAVA decide you should take more by making their 2 mg bar 3 parts instead of the industry accepted four, as if more medicine is better? ## Hello, Eddy! How are you? There isn't necessarily an industry accepted standard, they don't have to score them, at all. If you want to be able to divide it into 4 pieces, then you should pick up a good pill cutter. Are there any other questions or concerns?
