Why can't patients under 17 use it? What harm could a topical steroid really cause? ## Hello, Mygirlz! How are you? There are actually several reasons and they vary by the age of the pediatric patient. For instance, in children under 12, there have been cases where they absorbed too much of it, due to their smaller body mass to skin ratio and suffered dangerous toxicity, this may also apply to those from 13 to 17. And for children from 13 to 17, there have been instances of adrenal suppression from its use. And all children from 12 to 17 risk developing Cushing's Syndrome from using it. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Is growth a concern in children under 12? My son had a bad rash and was given Triamcinolone Acetone Cream USP 0.1% 30 g. He did not use the whole tube. ...

Is there an overthe counter substitute for this cream. I have a groin rash and inch ## If you're looking for an OTC alternative, it most likely wont be quite as strong or effective as this prescription cream. I know over-the-counter Clotrimazole is 1%, but prescription Lotrisone (Clotrimazole + Betamethasone) cream also contains 1% of Clotrimazole + 0.05% Betamethasone. Need to know If I can order this online in Mexico and be shipped to US ## Hello, Jim! How are you? I'm sure there are ways you could, but it isn't legal to do so, since all of these ingredients require a prescription in the U.S. The Betamethasone is a steroid class medication that carries the risk of causing some dangerous side effects, such as fluid retention, elevated heart rate and elevated blood pressure, so the U.S. doesn't allow most of them to be used, without a physician's supervision. Can I go tan? I only have used this for one week after what may have been an allergic reaction above my eyes (in upper lids and bellow brows along with three other small spots in neck and chest). It helped the swelling and peeling and seems to have cleared up. I am still taking it to prevent recurrence, as I believe it was an allergic reaction to a specific strain of medicinal cannabis which I have been prescribed for several years. Thank you from cold and wanting to tan in Maine. ## Hello, Sarah! How are you? It would be best not to do so since this medication could make your skin more sensitive to the effects of heat and light, according to FDA reports. What would happen if candid b cream is accidentally ingested? ## Candid B is a local "skin application" that consists of Clotrimazole and betamethasone; it is effective for localized fungal infections such as Ring worm. I don't think ingesting the cream is a very good idea to say the least and may even cause more harm than good since it is not an oral medication. Keep in mind that Candid B is not effective in widespread fungal infections. For wide spread fungal infections one would need to take "oral" anti-fungal treatments. In addition, it is not very effective in fungal infection of the nails. As far as side effects go, Clotrimazole and Betamethasone can cause skin irritation. Some people can get allergic reactions but it is quite rare. Mild burning sensation, redn...
