My boyfriend has been taking Citalopram HND 40 mg for about 2 years and the doctor refilled it for 20 mg. No discussion on the change amount was made. Plus the pills look completely different. ## Did he ask his doctor about the change? It might have been a mistake. The FDA warns that this medication may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and mood changes. Sometimes, such issues are just due to an honest mistake, because doctors tend to be so very busy.

It is also used to treat anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, panic disorder and several other conditions. I am also on Ambien and Suboxone. I take all that in a day and have been for years. I went into La-La land when i took both of those together with my 2 10 mg hydrocodone today. Which one hsc to go and I think it is the citalogram--not the gabenten?! ## From checking the interactions, each of these can cause central nervous system depression and they can all pretty much react with each other to make it must more pronounced. Thus, there really isn't any one of them to blame. Some people separate them, to avoid these synergistic effects by taking them an hour or more apart. Other people may need to discontinue one or more of the medications or need a dosage adjustment. Are there any questions or comments?

Gabapentin is acapsule with the mg and namr onit; citalopram hydrobromide 40 mg is white pill with slit in the middle with I on one side of the line and G on the other but the 10 mg yellow hydrocodone is an elongated yellow pill with a slit on one side with Watson 853 on the other side. ## Actually, from checking the interactions, each of these can cause central nervous system depression and they can all pretty much react with each other to make it must more pronounced. I started citalopram a year ago and it takes time but it does work. I take 40 mg a day, and life has gotten better. OK, I do admit, you will be a little forgetful and slow, but that is what it does. If you are high anxiety, like me, it will slow you down. It calms you down and if you embrace it just right you CAN make the drug work in your own way and fitting in your own lifestyle. But remember, IT DOES TAKE TIME. You'll see. ## Medications in this class generally take a month or more to reach their full effectiveness, for most people. AS to being forgetful and slow, this DOES NOT happen to everyone, medications can affect everyone in different ways. So, while some may experience this as a side effect, not everyone does. Thank you, however, for providing your experience and informat...

Hiya - hope no one minds me sharing. Can we skip the advice re: cold turkey versus tapering? I needed more than I can express, to be back in control of my life and pronto. So I've been on prozac for 15 years and recently over the last four years, citalopram, 40 mg down to 20 mg within the past two years. I am no longer sure if my genuine, underlying emotional situation is causing my effects, or if it's down to citalopram. I have all the typical symptoms - no libido, weight gain, tearful, hopeless, etc. That's while I'm on it. So is it me or is it the medication? Well, I'm off it now so we'll see. But i know for sure I'd rather have a tough withdrawal with symptoms I can apportion to the withdrawal journey, than continue on a weird false fog. I have brain zaps...

Hello, I ran out of sertraline and my sister has citalopram. Will it be ok to take that for few days ? ## Hello, Linda! How are you? What are the dosages? Your doctor should be able to call some Sertraline in for you, until you can get in for an appointment. These are SSRI antidepressants that may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes. ## Thanks for your reply. Started Citalopram, 40mg day, and feel much better. Thought, "Ok this is mind over matter here, you can do this" after I ran out. Have taken 150 mg Sertraline for several years and abruptly stopping didn't work out well. Rough week & getting worse helped me decide to take what I could get closest to what I had been taking. Surprised, after asking half dozen lady frie...

My husband had that pill and it didnt work. It caused hell in our home. Changing back to the other tablet today!! ## Yes, all of the tablets that were asked about for a confirmation of identity in this thread contain 40mgs of Citalopram, which is an SSRI antidepressant. How does 20mg of lexipro compare with 40 mg of citalopram? Is drowsiness a side effect of citalopram? ## The Escitalopram in the Lexapro is more potent than the Citalopram, so it is normal that a higher dose of the Citalopram be needed, if someone is switching from one to the other. And drowsiness can be a normal side effect of both of them, as well as nausea, dry mouth and weight changes. Are there any other questions or comments?

i forgot to take my citalopram hydromide this morning and it is time to take my ambien zolpidem sleeping pill can i take together ## Taking them together is usually not advisable, because they can both cause central nervous system depression, which means lower heart rate, lower blood pressure, lower breathing rate and etc. It isn't always a serious problem, but sometimes it can be, so it is really just not worth risking it. Usually it is just recommended to resume it on your normal dosing schedule. If you have been taking it for a long time and just miss one, the chances of it making a difference are very slim, anyway.
