I am a 38yo female. 120lbs. I just had my tonsils out today and am in some pain but not a lot... My Dr prescribed 2 Norco 7.5/325 every 6 to 8 hours for pain. I have found that 6 hours is a pretty long time for me... I even have a hard time with 4 hours.... And 2 pills are WAY too much... I'm good with one really, could probably cut that in half as it is... I'm wondering if I can take .5 to 1 every 3 hours instead of 2 every 6 hours? ## While this medication may work for severe pain, there is some amount of soreness that nothing is really going to relieve for awhile. I had mine out, just before my 21st birthday, so I know how miserable it can be. As to the medication, you can safely cut it in half, but I'd not recommend not changing the dosing schedule, without asking your d...

My dr prescribed 120 10 mg norcos for my back pain. Instruction say take 1 every 4 to 6 hours. Most of the time I take one every 6 hours. Sometimes I have to take 1 every 4 hours for a couple or few days. This causes me to be short before my next refill. I also take tramedol so that holds me over till I wait a few days for my norco. Today my dr got mad and discharged me from her care. Im confused. She said I was not taking them correctly. I will be out now of both meds before I can get into a new dr. ## Hello, Laurie! I take Norco 5/325 daily for pain.(Scoliosis) I am having a last minute breast augmentation tomorrow & my Dr. prescribed me Percocet 5/325 for the pain. Can I alternate my meds every few hours? I'm sure it should be fine, but just checking. Don't wanna freak either of my doctors out by asking them! ## They are both very potent narcotic analgesics, neither treats any specific condition, just general pain, so you really don't need to take them both, at the same time, only one is necessary. If the surgeon wants you to take the Percocet, then that's most likely the one you should use and it should help with both the surgical and scoliotic pain. You can learn more Percocet details here. I was in a bad accident 13 years ago and broke a lot of bones, some badly. A lot of them are displaced and never healed back together. There are like 24 fractures including pelvic fractures and scapula. They move, pop, stick out and my collar-bone bends in the middle where a non union bone is. Even with 2 norco 7.5 325 I haven't been able to sleep on my back since the wreck. I take one in the late morning and one in the evening. I go 18-19 hours every day intentionally between evening and morning dose. I am feeling pretty rough by then. Is that withdrawals I'm having? I have always taken less than prescribed and been at 2 a day for a long time, years. I have never abused it and never felt high from it, only less pain but not gone. taking one for tooth pain not helping can I take two is that safe every six hours ## Hi, Thinker! Sorry about the pain you're having. This is a generic for Vicodin, Norco, Lortab and others, which means that the Hydrocodone is a narcotic that carries the risk of being habit forming and side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, constipation and drowsiness. Additionally, the Acetaminophen can be toxic, if too much is taken in a day, so I have to say I wouldn't recommend doubling up, unless your doctor or dentist has specifically said it's okay for you to do so. Learn more Vicodin details here. Have you consulted your dentist to have the tooth taken care of, yet? My pcp prescribed norco for me until I can see a surgeon for cervical spine pain. He initially gave me a script for 30 with one refill and I was to take one a day. This wasn't enough for the pain, so he called in another script for 25 and wrote it to take one every 6 hours. I refilled the 30 script on the 5th and the pharmacy won't refill the script for 25 today the 15th. Is there any way to get this filled ? ## I would suggest contacting your doctor, it would seem that the pharmacy hasn't noted the dosage change. If they had, there shouldn't be a problem filling it for you. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. mI want to know how long it works not how long it 6 doctorsan who Decide it effects you ## There is really no way to give a definitive answer, because it is going to depend on the dosage, your tolerance to opiates and your own metabolism. They are usually prescribed to be taken about every 6 hours, as needed. If your current dosage isn't handling your pain for a long enough period of time, then you should consult your doctor for a possible dosage adjustment. What are the instructions on your current prescription?

I have a broken rear tooth and infection that is very painful. I will be seeing my dentist tomorrow, but he has prescribed me Tylenol 3, once every 3-4 hours. About a year ago for a similar problem he prescribed me Norco, which I still have a few left. I've taken 3 T3 today, but am wondering if it would be ok for my next dose, which will be in about 3 hours, could I switch to Norco? I've read that Norco is more powerful than the T3, and I'd obviously prefer to have as little pain as possible before I see my dentist. ## Hello, Sam! How are you?
