I have taken Tylenol 3 with codeine in it recently and I did get very nauseous and of tiny rash and when I went to get my root canal recently my doctor told me he couldn't prescribe me hydrocodone because it was the same thing I have been prescribed hydrocodone from the hospital due to my kidney stones and I've had no problem but he told me that he could not give me anything else but Tramadol since I'm allergic to codeine is that true ## Hello, Michelle123! How are you? No, that is not true, there are others you can try. They are all narcotic opiates, but they are different. The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, dry mouth, and constipation. Have you tried Tramado...

My son is allergic to both of these meds and he has been prescribed Tramadol for pain. I am unable to find if this drug is related to either and what to look for. ## Hello, Mari! How is your son? No, Tramadol is actually only very distantly related to narcotics, it isn't even really considered to be one. But you should double check the information to be certain. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Trammodol is an opiate. I too am allergic ## Doctor: uh man I guess we have no choice but to give him oxycontin or dilaudid. I'm guessing he's allergic to nsaids too. ## Verwon: Tramadol (Ultram) is an OPIOID...

I am allergic to morphine, Demerol and codeine. I itched all over my head and ears when taking a hydrocodone/acetemetephine yesterday. Am I allergic to hydro now? ## Hello, Carol! How are you doing? Has there been any change? It is common for someone that's allergic to one medication to discover the are also allergic to others, according to reports by the FDA. Thus, it would be best to have this checked out, those could be symptoms of an allergic reaction, and if they are, they could get worse with repeated exposure, according to NIH studies. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hi can I take Hydrocodone5mg/325 when i am allergic to codeine isn't Hydrocodone5mg/325 from the same family as Codeine because Codeine itches me.my Doctor gave me this for menstrual cramps, because she took me off 50mg Indomethian due to Kidney problems.I am afraid to take the Hydrocodone 5mg/325 cause i am afraid it will itch me what can I take is these medications the same or not. ## Yes, they are distantly related, but not the exact same substance. The itchiness, however, can be a normal side effect that some people experience from narcotics and the only way to see if this one affects you in the same manner is by actually trying it. Did you discuss your concerns with your doctor?

No, the active ingredients are exactly what you listed, Hydrocodone with Acetaminophen. According to the FDA, this is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. There is a slight chance that you could also have an allergic reaction to another narcotic, but there's no way to know other than trying it. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Yes hydrocodone has codeine in it, if you're allergic to codeine I would refrain from using this opiate ## shirley schaschl, it is always best to discuss drug allergies wi...

300-30mg acetaminophen code in vs 5-325mg hydrocodone with acetaminophen no story please just need to know which is stronger, thank you! ## Hello, Cynthia! How are you? I'm happy to help you with this question. Compared to the opiates that were derived much later, Codeine is very mild. For example, according to the opioid converter provided by Global, it takes 33.33mgs of Codeine to be equivalent to each 5mgs of Hydrocodone. Thus, while it may not look like it, if you go by the dosage numbers, Hydrocodone is actually much stronger than Codeine. The FDA classifies these medications as narcotic analgesics, so they carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help...

I am getting some facial work done(face lift) and they gave me a script for hydrocodone ## Hi Betty, From what I understand, Hydrocodone is just a synthetic derivative of codeine; so it does not contain the actual substance. If your doctor/surgeon was aware of this allergy prior to writing your script, then it's likely that he/she did so with your best interest in mind. People who are allergic to codeine usually have no problems with Hydrocodone. Is this your first time having to take this drug? ## Yes and thanks for your answer.

I'm allergic to codeine. Does it contain codeine? ## The active ingredients are exactly what you listed, Hydrocodone and Acetaminophen, the Hydrocodone is a narcotic. It is distantly related to codeine, so in some instances people that are allergic to one are allergic to the other, but that is very rare. Learn more Vicodin details here. Did you inform the doctor that you are allergic to Codeine? Does your pharmacy know, so they have it in your records?

Does hydrocodone and chlorpheniram have the same chemical in them ## The answer to your question is no. Hydrocodone and Chlorpheniramine have completely different chemical structures and are prescribed for different purposes as individual medications. There is however a liquid combination of Chlorpheniramine + Hydrocodone that is marketed as a narcotic antitussive (cough suppressant) and antihistamine combination. The antitussive (codeine) works by suppressing the cough center in the brain. The antihistamine (promethazine) works by blocking the action of histamine, which reduces the symptoms of an allergic reaction such as itch, watery eyes and runny nose. Is Hydrocodone Apap 10 325 safe to take if I am allergic to Codeine ? ## That's actually a good question, because Hydrocodone is a derivative of codeine. However my mom is allergic to codeine as well and she's on the same dose of Hydrocodone apap (10/325) right now and hasn't had any bad reactions other than the typical itching sensation that is sometimes associated with this combination. She was also initially worried about an allergic reaction but hasn't experienced one. With codeine she would break out in hives and whatnot. So I can only base my answer off of her experience, in that it should be fine since it's a derivative of codeine and not actual codeine. I hope this helps! ## They aren't the same substance, though they are distantly related, so being aller...

I took white oblong white 10 hydrocodone / 325 aceminophen and my body feels like i have ants crawling inside all over my legs and arms. What is that? ## Hello, Marie! How are you feeling? Some people do experience this type of symptoms as a side effect from some narcotics, as listed by the FDA. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation and dry mouth. Was this prescribed by your doctor? It might not be the right one for you to take and you may need to switch to something else. ## Aurobindo or aurolife norco, have little to know effect. ## When I took 3 at once it happened,I take one and on really bad days two , but never more at one time ## Sounds like you are having an allergic reaction to the codeine in the pill. Doctor prescribed Tylenol #4 for shingles pain. Can Tylenol #4 be split in half? There is too much codeine in a whole one. It makes me light headed and nauseous. ## To the person asking about splitting Tylenol # 4 in half as it is making you feel nausea. My advice would be to make sure you're not talking it on an empty stomach, as with most pain medications they should be taken with food, however, always read and follow any prescriptions directions and understand their side effects. I would immediately stop taking the medication and consult your Doctor to insure your not taking any conflicting medications; or try a synthetic pain reliever such as Hydrocodone, as many people are allergic to Codeine. Personally however I think Codeine/tylenol # 3 and #4 are junk drugs that's uses ...

Does this medicine have real codeine or synthetic? I am allergic to the real stuff but I can take meds like vicodin & darvocet. ## Tussionex contains Chlorpheniramine and Hydrocodone, the same narcotic as that in Vicodin, so no, it doesn't contain regular Codeine. Side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. You can read more on this medication here: Is there anything else I can help you with? ## How long does tussinex extended release show in urine ## Diana, Since it is a sustained release formulation the standard 72-96 hours could be an additional 36-48 hours. Why.?( Its a white oval like pill. hydrocodone apap 7.5 - 32 tablet Auro for> NORCO 7.5-325 MG ACTA ) ## It sounds like you are allergic to something in the tablet. You need to contact your Dr and ask him to prescribe something else. ## Hello, Lucy! How are you? Those can be side effects of this narcotic, in some people that take it. Along with dizziness, headache, constipation and dry mouth, as listed by the FDA. It also carries the risk of being habit forming. I experience these same symptoms, if I take Codeine, so I've found it best to stay away from it. Have you consulted your doctor? As BL suggested, you'll likely need to try a different medication.

Someone who reacts badly to Codine, will hydroco apa5 do the same thing? Nausa, headaches, etc. ## Does Hydroco/apa 7.5 - 75 have codine in it? ## No ## That is correct, this doesn't contain Codeine. The active ingredients are Hydrocodone and Acetaminophen, so it contains a different narcotic. However, if you're allergic to Codeine or sensitive to it, then there is a chance that you could also have problems with other narcotics. Although the symptoms listed are actually just common possible side effects that many people experience when taking narcotics, even though they can be quite alarming and annoying. I broke out in a severe itchy rash. Is this common? ## Itching is unfortunately a common side effect of Acetaminophen + Hydrocodone (Vicodin).
