Can a 80mg Oxycontin be cut in half and broken down to work immediately instead of the time released? I'd rather use it for breakthrough pain. ## You can't......plain and simple. Oxycontin contains a "plastic" component that does not break up so it can't be turned into an IR from an ER. There are things people are doing instead, rectally, but it is quite dangerous. I'm not judging you or anything, but if you are using them recreationally you are better off with OXYCODONE IR. I wouldn't gamble with your life by doing things others are doing. My mother has been taking metoprolol tartrate for 2 years. Six to eight weeks ago she started experiencing hallucinations(seeing things that are not real,) at night after taking the pill. She called her doctor but the doctor told her to break the pill in half, which is going from 50 to 25 mgs. I am afraid she will have an episode while driving. Hey guys, I've been on oxycontin 80's for 10 years, and the new ops reall suck, but instead of trying all these ways to break them down, try this, I promise on own life it works. Simply cut it into 4 or 5 pieces, take them on an empty stomach, and in 20 minutes you are pain free and aggravation free, and you havnt screwed up all your pills trying to find a way to do them. Sure it takes a little longer to get fully into your system like the instant from banging, but hey if youve been without for days and your sick whats another 15 minutes to wait ? can i split one in half or quarter ## No, it is not safe to cut and divide these tablets. This is a 30mg Oxycontin tablet, which contains the narcotic Oxycodone in a time released formulation. Cutting or breaking the tablet could result in your getting too much of the medication, at once, which could result in overdose. The new formulation is supposed to help prevent this, but the danger is always there. Its probably a vitamin b12 I have a bottle I got at dollar general store. If you try break it in half it breaks easy and is yellow on the inside also ## I hope this doesn't sound rude in anyway, but if you have a bottle of vitamin B12 from the dollar store and suspect this to be what it is, why haven't you opened the bottle to check? Or was the bottle already empty? Have you also considered going back to the dollar store for any evidence? While it may very well be some sort of dietary supplement or vitamin, depending on where it's really from, this also fits the description of various pharmaceuticals from Mexico that bear no markings; including but not limited to the likes of hydrocodone/acetaminophen and cyclobenzaprine. Mallinckrodt still makes hydrocodone. Depending on lowest bidder, unless a drug is truly discontinued, that's who your pharmacy will stock. I am a tech and our pharmacy just changed to Mallinkrodt which I feel is an inferior product. ## What brand is the least troublesome ? Do you get many complaints from your opioid using customers ? I had no idea u could not break the pill in half and this is my first time taking it. I broke it in half and took it. I just now read how dangerous it is. I just came off my percocet yesterday and now take this. Is it common for it to be a huge problem or not real common. Im worried of overdose. I found a bag of these pills at my apartment complex and was wondering if anyone knew what they are. I live in Virginia. Lynchburg VA 24501 to be exact. I've been on opiates 15+ years now and my doctor is retiring in 3 months. I've got all the MRI's, all my major issues and list's of my meds over these years. I was told I needed pain meds the rest of my life as they can't do operation.
