butalbital is a barbituate and is habit forming ## Hi mena, A light and dark capsule marked with "Lannett 1552" contains the following active ingredients: Aspirin (325mg) + Butalbital (50mg) + Caffeine (40mg). Butalbital itself is a barbiturate and I do agree that the muscle relaxing properties of this medication can be habit forming. However, this alone should not deter patients from using it if that's the only discrepancy. The mental and physical dependence that comes with taking anything for a long time or in larger doses is something that can easily be avoided by responsible users. In my honest opinion, we're all habitual creatures and it really just depends on each individual's mindset and their ability to continue administering it in safe doses. You can learn m...

I need to know how to break an addiction to fiorinal ## Fiorinal contains Aspirin, Caffeine and the Barbituate Butalbital. What kind of withdrawal effects you may experience depends on how long you have been taking it and how much you have been taking. I suggest speaking to your doctor. ## Doctors recognize that both physical and pyscholgical addiction may develop from prescription medication use, even following prescribed doses. It is not your fault. Please get help from recognized addiction treatment providers, including your own doctor. One may also develop medication overuse headache or MOH from too-often used meds. Breaking this cycle may be difficult, but can be done with help. Please ask for that help :) You deserve it. God bless. ## Regular use of medication results in what is c...

## just wondering the side effects ## what are the exact contents of this capsule? ## #1Butalbiltol, which is a actual barbituate is to help you kinda relieve your nervousness and stress(kinda chill-out a little), since it's mainly those two culprits that give you those damn tension headaches and migraines so freakin' bad!! I guess the medical community THOUGHT, anyway, that it was gonna work like a charm, but my two biggest complaints about Butalbitol is : (1) If you take the Rx as it's prescribed/labeled, the butalbitol part of the pill DOES seem to relieve the stabbing, stress-related pains and throbbing in my head I get in my head, shoulders, and behind my eyes. AT FIRST THEY DO, ANYWAY!! But I swear, it's not one and a 1/2 weeks later...TOPS... that taking only one ...

browncilander shaped pill alza 54 printed on pill ## What kind of pill is alza54? Is it a barbituate? a prescription pill? What is it used for? My son doesn't take any medicine and I found this in his room. ## This tablet contains 54mgs of Methylphenidate, a generic for Concerta, which is primarily used in the treatment of ADHD. It is a stimulant and can be dangerous if used improperly or abused. Before freaking on your son, though, it is possible that one of his friends is on it and just dropped a pill? ## Also, if you only found one I wouldn't be TOO worried. One isn't enough to put him in danger, although talking to him about it is probably wise. Staying calm though is the best way to get the truth from him.

I found some white oblong pills with NO markings of any kind on them and I have no idea what it is. I've taken many medications from opiates to benzos and barbituates in the last 8 years and can pretty much tell what anything is but like I said, this is just a plain pill, just a bit shorter than an inch with no letters, numbers, symbols, nothing. What could this be? ## Hello, CC! How are you? If there are no markings, then unless you've ordered medications from a foreign source, they have to be over the counter products. All U.S. prescription medications are required to have unique markings to enable their identification. Are there any over the counter products that you remember buying? Perhaps Acetaminophen or a supplement of some type?

white cricle ## This is a generic form of something called Fiorinal, (the generic ingredients are butalbitol (a sedative), caffeine and aspirin). It is used for serious migraine headaches. It is a very common migraine medication. It is not a controlled substance; however, it can make you very very tired after the caffeine loses its effect. ## Butalbital is a member of the barbituate family, so it can be physically addicting ( 'habit forming'). Your experience may vary. My experience with Fiorinal was that I DID build up a tolerance, so that the doctor had to prescribe me ever larger & larger doses, taken more & more often. However, I was not aware of any withdrawal symptoms when I was not taking the stuff. ## The pill has west word 785 what is it. ## Westward and it'...

Is the new formulation of fioricet now class 3. A controlled substance. ## Hello, Mary! How are you? That is what being on Schedule III means, it's been found to have potential for abuse and dependence. The Butalbital in it is a barbiturate. But you do need to understand that most prescription drugs are considered controlled substances. Is there anything else I can help with? ## It is the same except it now has 25 mg of Tylenol less. The ratio of tylenol to the barbituate changed and that is what made it now a controlled substance. It's crazy!

Is it possible to overdose on this drug in a way that causes death? What are the symptoms? ## Hello, From what I can gather, this combination can potentially be fatal, but you would have to ingest a very significant amount. A serious overdose of butalbital and acetaminophen may result in toxicity. Toxicity due to caffeine is less likely, due to the fairly small amounts in this formulation. The symptoms of overdosing on these medications are as follows: Butalbital: toxicity from Barbituate poisoning may include confusion, drowsiness, and coma; respiratory depression; hypotension; and hypovolemic shock. Acetaminophen: dose-dependent, potentially fatal hepatic necrosis is the most serious adverse effect. Renal tubular necroses, hypoglycemic coma, and coagulation defects may also occur. Ear...

I am teaching a medication administration course and need a list of schedule G drugs and rthe reason they would be listed as such ## I cannot find a complete list, most of my information is for the U.S. and they do not use the same schedule for drugs. However, the schedule G drugs are those that are available strictly by prescription. This is due to the possibility of side effects and the health dangers they may present if used improperly. Some that are included in this category are amphetamines and barbituates. What country are you in? That may help me find you the proper information. ## Thanks for the reply, We are in Canada and I do realize that these are a restricted drug but I am not sure if they are narcotics or if they are special drugs that are being used almost experimentally o...
