I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety when I was 16 and started taking Zoloft. within 6 months of treatment I was taking 100mg of Zoloft, and here I am four years later still depending on it each day. Due to the high dosage, it caused me to have very very very bad side affects such as migraines and becoming restless 24/7. They then started me on Amitriptyline to help out balance the side affects and it worked perfectly. My Son, who has Cancer, has been taking Oxycodone, 30mg for a little over a year, he says when he is out of his meds, he feels washed out, no energy, he hurts in his legs and body, and so tired. His Dr. cut his Prescription from 120 a month to 60 a month. Does this sound like he's addicted? I think so. Thank you all. ## Actually, from what you've described, that would be considered dependence, not addiction. Dependence can happen with any medication that someone takes for a long period of time, whether it be a narcotic or a blood pressure medication. It just means that their body has gotten used to having that substance added, so it reacts if that substance is suddenly removed, because it basically forgets how to work without it and it takes awhile for it to readjust. i use methadone pills from a year now and just want to get rid of the addiction. ## Dear Zayed, I use 2 b on methadone. I was on (110mg) a day. When it came time 2 taper, I went through horrible withdrawals. I made it down 2 (24mg). It was pure heck! The key is 2 do it VERY SLOWLY. There r also medications that can help. Such as clonodine and other meds. Maybe, an anti-anxiety med. talk 2 your Dr about it. Me, personally, I had 2 go on suboxone after I got that low. GOOD LUCK! Due to medical conditions I was on pain pills for many years. It was used against me as being an addict and my kid was taken.
