is this an anti-inflammatory medicine? ## Acetaminophen is a widely used over-the-counter analgesic (pain reliever) and antipyretic (fever reducer). It is commonly used for the relief of fever, headaches, and other minor aches and pains, and is a major ingredient in numerous cold and flu remedies. In combination with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and opioid analgesics, paracetamol is used also in the management of more severe pain (such as postoperative pain). Is Acetaminophen like a Percocet? I'm not too fond of Percocets, as I was given them after I had my baby. ## Hi Nicki, Acetaminophen is NOT the same thing as Percocet. It can sometimes be confusing because Acetaminophen is one of the active ingredients in Percocet (the other being Oxycodone which is a strong narcotic drug in the opioid class). However, on its own, Acetaminophen is a readily available over the counter pain reliever (it is not a narcotic like Oxycodone in Percocet), so you should not expect to have any of the unpleasant side effects associated with a drug like Percocet. It is important to follow the instructions on the label because too much Acetaminophen can cause liver damage. One brand name that you would be familiar with that contains Acetaminophen as the only act...

HAS NUPRIN RED 500 MGM ACETAMINOPHEN CHANGED COLOUR TO WHITE? I HAVE BOTH.. SAME LABEL. ## Nuprin actually makes several over the counter products. The red tablet is listed as containing 200mgs of Ibuprofen and the white is listed as containing 500mgs of Acetaminophen. I wonder if there was possibly a mix-up in labeling? Since these are over the counter products and are not as strictly controlled as prescription medications. The labels on the bottles, however, are very similar, but do list the relevant ingredient. Are you sure you didn't mistakenly pick up one of the Ibuprofen products, rather than Acetaminophen? ## THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY.. BUT... THE LABELS ARE IDENTICAL..STATING 500MGM ACETAMINOPHEN.. ONE RED ROUND.. THE OTHER WHITE OBLONG !

i am worried about taking this pill ## That is understandable, since there can be side effects when you use any medication. This one, in particular, contains the narcotic pain reliever Hydrocodone, couple with Acetaminophen. Common side effects that you may experience can include: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. If you use it as prescribed, the chances of having any problems is very small, most people use it quite successfully, without any serious issues. So you know what to watch for, in case you do run into a problem with it, signs of a serious reaction can include: erratic heartbeat, trouble breathing, swelling of lips or throat and itchy skin rash. I didn't do anything to make my lower back hurt, but I am in a lot of pain. My husband have some hydroco/acetaminop5/500tab mal. Can I take this to relieve my pain. Do you have any suggestion? This is a substitution for Vicodin 5-500 mg ## HI, Ann! Sorry that you're in pain. However, this is a narcotic analgesic and under the laws for such, taking one that has been prescribed for someone else, or anyone's telling you to do so is against the law, because there can be some serious risks associated with taking them, including their being habit forming. Learn more Vicodin details here. Have you consulted your doctor, yet? Doing so would be the best and safest thing to do, that way you can discover the cause of your pain and receive proper treatment.

I was prescribed this medicine and it says for severe pain, is 5 mg the Lowest amount you can get or is it higher than 7.25? ## It comes in hydrocodone 5mgs, 7.5 mgs and 10 mgs. There is 500 mgs of tylenol in it. The 5 mg is the lowest dose in pill form ## Hydrocodone, which is the generic for Vicoden, is what I was prescribed after Percocet didn't give me much relief. I then was switched to Roxycodone, because I have elevated liver levels in my blood work, and the Tylenol can worsen that. I am now prescribed 30 mgs. of Roxycodone three times a day. Whether it be Percoset, Vicoden, or Oxycodone or Roxycodone and going up to more powerful pain medications, they are all so very addictive. My suggestion for everyone that is given a prescription for any of these is to try your hardest t...

I've been approximately 10 years on hydrocodone acetaminophen 10-500. It now has been changed to Hydrocodone-acetaminophen 10-325 without any consultation. What would be the reason for the change and will it attack the pain the same? Thank you. Todd ## All prescription tylenol combinations medications had to reduce the amount of tylenol to no more than 325 mg in Jan 2014. The FDA has even taken action to withdraw the approval for prescription meds that have more than 325 mg tylenol. The decrease in tylenol may or may not make any difference to you. Some drs are telling their patients to add 1 regular strength tylenol to the prescription meds, if they need it. Just be sure to keep track of how much tylenol you take in a 24 hrs period and don't let it exceed 4,000 mg in a 24 hr pe...

Is it dangerous to take Methocarbamol 500 mg with hydrocodone 7.5mg / acetaminophen 500mg? Are there drug interactions? ## Muscle relaxants, such as Methocarbamol and narcotics, such as Vicodin are often prescribed together to help treat pain. However, there are some risks associated using them together that you should know to watch out for. They can both cause central nervous system depression and this can be made worse by using them concomitantly. This means you should watch for breathing problems, such as very shallow breathing and low breathing rate, slowed heart rate and pulse rate, as well as feelings of heavy sedation. Have you spoken to your doctor or pharmacist about your concerns? ## I am taking 1 tab 3 times a day of Methocarbamol 500MG and aleve for pain in my hip and thigh ...

Does Lortab make a 10/325? My Doc changed my lortab 10/500 to norco10/325. Norco is a different medicine, making me really tired. everyone keeps saying its the same as Lortab. I STRONGLY disagree. help ## Hi, I'm on pain management & have taken Lortab then Norco for years. Norco is the same as Lortab with 325 mg of acetaminophen instead of 500 mg. My doctor changed mine as well due to the affects on the liver. I understand the hesitation. When he changed mine I wasn't thrilled either, but I'm a creature of habit & dislike change in routines. I'm uncomfortable when my generics are from another company & look different than I normally take. I promise, it's the same 10 mg of hydrocodone. I have Ankylosing Spondylitis. Got Cortisone shots in my lumbar region and Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen 5-500 tb and Tramadol ER 200 mg from my rheumatologist. What is the Tramadol for? I'm starting a new job tomorrow and am not sure if I should take it until I know how they may effect me. Should I wait until this weekend to start? ## Hi Wendy, Tramadol is most commonly used for treating moderate to moderately severe pain, but has a wide range of other applications, including treatment for restless leg syndrome, acid reflux, and fibermyosis. If you're starting a new job of any kind, I would probably suggest waiting till you get off work to experiment with how these medications really affect you deep down. This way you can at least be more comfortable going into work knowing whether...

Do you know what they will substitute the hydrocodone whith ## Hi Rhonda, They're not actually discontinuing this medication. All they are really doing is lessening the amount of Acetaminophen in their products. It started sometime earlier this year, but all manufacturers have to abide by this new law which only allows up to 325 mgs of Acetaminophen. This is primarily due to safety concerns with liver toxicity. Some pain management patients suggest taking an extra Tylenol to make up for it. However I wouldn't necessarily recommend more of something that is considered to be so toxic. Perhaps steering more in the direction of natural alternatives would be a good choice if you're seeking additional relief with less side effects. I hope this helps! ## Thank you so much for your ...
