I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. Did they take a culture? That would provide a definitive answer on whether or not its a fungus, bacteria or something else. The FDA classifies this medication as a steroid and it won't do anything to eradicate a fungus or bacteria. Its typical side effects may include skin irritation, redness, rash, itching and acne. Have you had any discharge? ## Hi I too have a problem with my vigana.and two weeks back I did went to the clinic and they gave me a glenmark clotrimazole viganal teblet.after three days my vigana started burning, even now i...

Needing the drug classification of Lotrizone cream and Nystatan Powder ## Lotrisone is a cream or lotion consisting of a combination of the drugs clotrimazole and betamethasone. Clotrimazole is an "anti-fungal" drug related to fluconazole (Diflucan), ketoconazole (Nizoral), itraconazole (Sporanox), and miconazole (Micatin, Monistat). It prevents growth of several types of fungi by preventing production of the membranes that surround fungal cells. Betamethasone is a synthetic "corticosteroid" that is used topically on the skin. Corticosteroids suppress inflammation as well as the body's immune response. Nystatin powder is an "antibiotic" which is both fungistatic and fungicidal in vitro against a wide variety of yeasts and yeast-like fungi. I put quotations ar...

Information on Barmicil compuesto creme ## Sorry, I cannot find any drug listing under this name. ## This is a medication from Mexico which is used to treat a variety of skin conditions. It contains Betamethasone + Clotrimazole + Gentamicin. ## it's similar to LOTRISONE available in the US by prescription. Betamethasone (a steroid, like hydrocrotisone) is only available by prescription in the US. That's why you won't find it over-the-counter in the US. The BARMICIL Compuesto (Compound) preparation is made by Laboratorios Quimica Son's in Puebla, Mexico. It's is VERY inexpensive ($3-5 for 30g) in most Mexican farmacias. It might be found occassionally in some Mexican grocery stores in the US as they may not realize it's by 'scrip only. ## Gentamicine, also inc...

Is there an overthe counter substitute for this cream. I have a groin rash and inch ## If you're looking for an OTC alternative, it most likely wont be quite as strong or effective as this prescription cream. I know over-the-counter Clotrimazole is 1%, but prescription Lotrisone (Clotrimazole + Betamethasone) cream also contains 1% of Clotrimazole + 0.05% Betamethasone. Maybe you could ask your pharmacist if they carry an OTC version of Betamethasone at a lesser percentage, and just combine the two? ## Can you use Clotrimazole and Betamethasone Dipropiomate on areas that you have been bitten by Yellow Jackets that come up out of the ground, I am a Diabetic

My husband used Gelmicin cream that we picked up from Mexico on a diabetic ulser he had on his toe for over a year that was cracking and taking a long time to heal but not infected. He used the Gelmicin cream on it and after 3 days it is healing fantastic, almost gone actually. I am looking for this cream in Alberta and so far no luck!!! I guess it will be a great reason to return to Mexico!! Just thought I would share with anyone who suffers from diabetes issues. ## I did a quick search and found Gelmicin is a cream made up of 3 different ingredients. Clotrimazole 1%, an antifungal; Betamethasone Dipropionate 0.05%, a topical steroid to reduce inflammation; and Gentamicin Sulfate 0.1%, an anitbiotic for bacterial infection. The closest equivalent in the US is LOTRISONE (clotrimazole an...
