I'm having a severe headache and have been for 3 days. Went to Dr yesterday and they gave me a script for a headache pill but it didn't work. They also gave me a pain shot and steroid shot that didn't work! Today they called in a script for butalb acetaminophen caffeine 50 300 40 and it's not working. How long should it take for this to work or should I go to see if I need any tests ran? ## It should start to help within 15 to 20 minutes of taking it, according to the NIH, since it is a regular release medication. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and stomach pain. Are you on any other medications? Has the headache eased, yet? ## I'm not on any other meds and today is the first day without a headache in 7 days .

These caps are expensive. Made in cap form & only difference in dosage is that the APAP in caps is 300 mg vs the APAP in tab form is 325 mg. Any info on coupons for the caps? I've tried a lot of the coupons & still remain $70 to $100 for 60. My Dr has written them specifically for TABLET form but the pharmacy said they are only carrying the caps. Thanks so much. ## CVS in NH always, always has the tablets. I’ve been taking this for years and have never been given a capsul. If you have AAA (for your car) a lot of chain pharmacies will have a good discount if you show them the card. My $90 Adderall prescription was only $30 and my pharmacist told me someone got a $900 pet prescription for $90. It’s worth a try. Just make sure you print the discount card from AAA...

What are the milligrams of but/acetaminophen/caff 50-300-40 cp? I'm 75 and take a # of medications for restless leg, fibromyalgia and arthritis. I've never taken this drug before, but had what the dr.s think was a migraine weeks after eye surgery. Eye dr. has checked my eyes. Do I have to take this drug every day? Script calls for every 6 hours. I'm a little cautious as I've already had a horrible reaction to clamaspan. Thanks, earle ## Hello, Earle! How are you? The dosage is 300mgs of Acetaminophen, 50mgs of Butalbital and 40mgs of Caffeine. Usually, this medication is taken as needed, rather than all the time. Its typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, nervousness, insomnia and stomach irritation. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have bitten my tongue a few months ago and my work had me travel out of the US. I have seen a dentist which prescribed me Diclo K 50 mg 3 times a day, it did reduce the swelling temporarily but the infection is still with me. I get ear aches and swelling of the gums still, where I am talking more than 300-400 mg per day just to ease the pain, nothing else seems to work I won't be able to get to see my regular dentist for another month and 1/2, I have tried all kinds of remedies and still nothing is working, any suggestions would be great as I am continuing to take this drug and increase dosage as well, and am worried about my diabetes and liver function. ## Hello, Faxi! I took these capsules, these were told by pham. that they are the same ingredients as foinal w/codine. But I am having red blotching all over my body, plus it is eyes & lips are swelling alittle.Help??? ## Okay, first of all there is NO Fiorinal with Codeine, Fiorinal contains Aspirin, Butalbital and Caffeine, it is commonly used to treat migraines. These capsules contain 30mgs of Codeine, 500mgs of Acetaminophen, 50mgs of Butalbital and 40mgs of Caffeine, so they are the generic for Fioricet with Codeine. That said, even if you have taken this same thing before, it is possible for an allergy or new side effect to suddenly occur. this site is not medical professionals, but this certainly sounds like an allergic reaction and you should consult your doctor or pharmacist IMMEDIATELY! ##...

Ok my sister is worried about me taken the amount of this medication. I'm taken 2 tablets of hydrocodon-acetaminophn 10-500 as needed 3 times a day. This would mean I'm taken 60-3000. Is this gonna cause problems with my liver. What is a healthy liver number before one should start to be concerned. ## According to the FDA, the current maximum recommended adult dose of acetaminophen is 4,000 milligrams per day. So in my opinion you should be fine with the amount you've been prescribed. However other webpages have noted that Extra Strength Tylenol packages will now list the maximum daily dose as six pills, or a total of 3,000 milligrams, down from eight pills a day, or 4,000 milligrams. My suggestion is if you have to take this amount on a regular basis, I'd consider chang...

I have BUT/ACETAMINOPHEN/CAFF 50-300-40 CP. What do the last two letters "CP" mean? Does it mean capsules? ## Hello Grace, Typically the abbreviation CP in the medical field refers to cerebral palsy but in reference to a pill itself it's fairly safe to assume that it could stand for capsule. Each company and pharmacy have their own way of labeling things so if it's truly of great concern to you simply ask your pharmacy or the manufacturer who labeled the bottle. ## The ingredients listed in your abbreviation correspond with: Butalbital 50 mg / Acetaminophen 300 mg / Caffeine 40 mg I am inclined to agree with everyone on here that the "CP" could likely stand for Capsule ... However, there is a variation of this med that also contains Codeine Phosphate 30 mg in add...

Ref: Overdose Symptoms Even when everything you take has been prescribed for you, it is still possible to just end up taking too many medications at once, since they can all cause side effects, such as dizziness, drowsiness, lowered heart rate, and lowered breath rate. However, on the other medications listed, there are several possible interactions that can occur, for instance the Adderall taken with the Bupropion can cause seizures, due to the additive effects of taking them both at the same time.
