I have had several pain intensive surgeries followed by Dr. prescrptions of Vicodin & Percocet on various occasions in the past. Each time I would have surplus meds (with dispose of dates listed on container) leftover after pain subsided. My question is do these meds have a shelf life where they become ineffective or worse, toxic? ## No, these types of medications do not become toxic, but they will start to lose effectiveness past the expiration date. There's no precise time frame to give, because it depends on storage conditions, but the one year date from the pharmacy is the maximum time they can be sure they'll remain fully effective. Learn more Vicodin details here. Learn more Percocet details here. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thanks for the expiration inf...

Please help me. I suffer pain all the time from my Fibromyalgia to my disc and back problems. The doctor had me on Percocet10/350 mg and switched me to Oxycodone HCL10 mg. little pink pills that don't work and Morphine Sulf ER 15 mg littleblue pills. I'm getting NO relief. What should I take? I'm at my wits end with pain. Almost no generic pills don't work. What can I do? Please help me!! Thank you ## If your doctor approves it, you may be able to take Acetaminophen/Tylenol with it to help get back some of the prior pain relief that you had, since it potentiates the action of the narcotics. Have you contacted them about the problem, yet? How long have you been taking the new medications? ## i am on lyrica 100mg and ocycodone 10/325 for my fibromyalgia been on it for awhi...

I survived a compression fracture @C5 and then two more medically necessary (surgically induced) fracture/repairs @C5. I walked away after all of that. In 1998 my spinal cord attached to C5 and the repair work has been scratching into the cord ever since. Prescribed Oxycodone Acetaminophen 5-325mg and carefully monitored ever since I am now at 6 pills a day and have held that level for the last 5 years or so. This month my prescription changed to OA 5-3. It is a smaller pill so I am guessing it is 300 mg rather than 325. Is my guess correct? I am in agony from the forced reduction. What else can I take -- in addition to the prescribed oxy -- to compensate for the reduction of the pain med. Something that won't kill me. I tried Tylenol as a substitute but had to give it up once I was...

how much is this per pill how long will it take to get the order ## Hello, Richard! How are you? I'm sorry, but this site does not manufacture, prescribe, nor sell any medications or products, it is an information only resource. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Since this is a controlled substance, it requires regular monitoring from a physician. Is there anything else I can help with?

Is oxycodone 10 mg hcl just as strong as the oxy 10 w/tylonal in them? Does one just have tylonal in it & that's it? ## Tylenol and Acetaminophen are the same thing. Tylenol is the brand name for Acetaminophen. ## @Archangel, A 10mg Oxycodone with the addition of Acetaminophen is most certainly going to be stronger than a 10mg Oxycodone tablet in and of itself. Acetaminophen is just there for those who may need a little more relief. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Acetaminophen + Oxycodone Details Are you not noticing much difference between the two, in so far as your pain levels are concerned?

I just had a bunionectomy today and the doctor have me oxycodone - acetaminophen 5-325 and meloxicam for pain and inflammation. I have already been taking the trazadone 100mg for sleep at night. In the mornings I take effexor for depression and topiramate for migraines. Please let me knowif ii can take the pain mes with the trazadone ## Hello, Based on my research there are potentially unsafe drug interactions listed between Oxycodone and Trazodone; as well as Effexor (venlafaxine) and Trazodone. Apparently, taking either of these drug combinations together can increase your risk of developing serious symptoms associated with serotonin syndrome. Due to the severe nature of serotonin syndrome, it sounds like your best bet would be to sit down with your doctor and talk about these concern...

I was taking hydrocodon 10-325 and now my dr switched me to Percocet 10-325 and when I take it it puts me to sleep for hours and keeps me drowsy all day is this what it is suppose to do when my other hydrocodone didn't do this to me I was able to stay active and alert and do my daily duties. ## Hello, Ricky! How are you? The Oxycodone in the Percocet is actually stronger than the Hydrocodone, so what you're taking now is more potent, which is likely why it's making you drowsy. How long have you been taking it? It should improve after about 4 weeks or so, once your body adjusts to the medication. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and constipation. ## I get constipated from...

Is Acetaminophen like a Percocet? I'm not too fond of Percocets, as I was given them after I had my baby. ## Hi Nicki, Acetaminophen is NOT the same thing as Percocet. It can sometimes be confusing because Acetaminophen is one of the active ingredients in Percocet (the other being Oxycodone which is a strong narcotic drug in the opioid class). However, on its own, Acetaminophen is a readily available over the counter pain reliever (it is not a narcotic like Oxycodone in Percocet), so you should not expect to have any of the unpleasant side effects associated with a drug like Percocet. It is important to follow the instructions on the label because too much Acetaminophen can cause liver damage. One brand name that you would be familiar with that contains Acetaminophen as the only act...

how many mg of oxycodone in a acetaminophen 325 ## Acetaminophen and Oxycodone are two different drugs; therefore the dosage of Acetaminophen does not reflect the dosage of Oxycodone. However in some preparations and combination drugs, such as Percocet, 325mgs of Acetaminophen may be combined with 5-10mgs of Oxycodone for an additive effect on pain relief. I hope this helps to answer your question!

I have a 7.5mg oxycodone with acetaminophen (U16 on the pill). I need to know if I can cut this in half? I have looked everywhere to see if it is IR or XR and cant find a thing. ## It's IR, and yes it can be cut in half ## thanks ash, I appreciate the response. Usually well it seems they used to say if the pill was immediate release or timed release. I looked everywhere but i hoped that somebody out there takes it. Now I can take 1/2 when i am not in too much pain. ## No problem i had them a few times. Not my favorite. Actually fought with riteaid - they didnt work to well for me, however, they took over watson brand ## Well I hope that is not a problem for me but i have one friend that agrees with you. I am just being changed from 5 mg to these 7.5 ones. I havent used them yet. I k...

well i resently cutt off a few fingers so i got the hydrocodon for pain when i take 2 of them and 1 hydroxyzine pam 50 mg cap too sooth my stomach.i get feeling really sick to my stomach. but when i take 1 oxycodone 10-325 and 1 hydroxyzine pam50 mg cap i feel fine why is that? ## They are two different opiates, one contains Hydrocodone and the other Oxycodone and each may effect you differently. Not everyone experiences the same results or side effects from every medication they take. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I just went through surgery. Prior to surgery I was given a generic of Percocet - IP203 , after I received plain pill, no letters but 512 on one side, what is the difference, if any please as I am concerned. Thank You ## Both "IP 203" and "512" contain the same two active ingredients Acetaminophen 325mg + Oxycodone hydrochloride 5mg. The primary noticable differences between these two pills are the different manufacturers they are made by, as well as each pill containing different inactive ingredients or fillers. Inactive ingredients or fillers can effect how efficiently the drug is absorbed into your system and therefore determine how effective it might be over another similar pill with different inactive ingredients. Inactive Ingredients in IP 203: silicon dioxide cros...

Acetaminophen and codeine phosphate 300 mg / 30mg. compared to 30 mg of roxys. how do they compare in strength? thanks ## codeine is the absolute weakest opiate there is, you can't even compare 30mgs of codeine to 30mg of oxycodone, 30mgs of oxycodone its veryyyyy strong compared to codeine so be extremely careful, defenetly look a little more into this before taking anything. ## methadoneman is kind of on the right track, though they can be compared if someone knows how to do the conversions. However yes, the Oxycodone is much stronger than the Codeine. If you have been taking 30mgs of Codeine, then you'd only require 3mgs of Oxycodone to be an equivalent dosage and the issue there is that there isn't any 3mg dosage of Oxycodone available by prescription in tablet form. The...

I was prescribed oxycodone acetaminophen 5-325 for pain; another doctor told me to take 1000 mg of acetaminophen for the same pain. Which is stronger? ## @Demetri, Oxycodone in and of itself is significantly stronger than Acetaminophen, so I'm not sure if there's any reliable or honest way to accurately compare the two, outside of trying each one for yourself at different times in the day and noticing the big difference in pain relief. I'm not a Dr. but I also wouldn't encourage anyone to take such a large dose of Acetaminophen on a regular basis. They narrowed down the max dose in meds to 325mg for a good reason (to do with decreasing one's risk for liver damage/failure). So my thoughts are, even if 1000mgs of Acetaminophen helped your pain momentarily, it would see...

Round white pill with Watson 933 Oxycodon-Acetaminophen 7.5-325, prescribed to me for shingles. ## Based on the description provided, I can confirm the pill to be Acetaminophen + Oxycodone hydrochloride (325 mg - 7.5 mg). The blend tablet is a narcotic pain reliever used to treat moderate to severe acute (short-term) pain. If you have any more questions or concerns, please post back and I will be happy to help you.

Want to stop taking this med: oxycodone/acetaminophen 2.5-325 for two years. ## Hello, Bud! How are you? How many have you been taking each day? A slow taper is usually best, your doctor can help you set up a tapering schedule. However, you may still experience some withdrawal symptoms, which may include nausea, diarrhea, dizziness, fever, chills and rebound pain as listed by the FDA. ## My sister has been on Oxycodone/Acetaminophen 2.5 mg once a day for about three years. How long would her withdrawal last? ## On 2.5mg for years, no withdrawals for me after stopping without tapering.

My doctor prescribed me Oxycodone 10/325 for extreme pain. I normally take Norco 10/325 for chronic back pain. I split those in half and take half every 4 hours. I want to split these m523 oxycodone in half but there isn't a score mark like my other meds. Is it safe to split m523 pills in half? Thank you ## I don't see anything which specifically says it's an extended release tablet, so in theory it might be okay to take half at a time. But that being the case, why is there no score line? I would recommend double checking with the pharmacist as they would be able to tell you for sure. Can you please share the outcome? For reference, this tablet contains Acetaminophen 325 mg + Oxycodone 10 mg (NDC 0406-0523). Inactive Ingredients: - Crospovidone - Cellulose, Microcrystalline ...

I had extensive back surgery 5 months ago and i also have severe migraines. i have 1 oxycontin 10 mg tab left and i am in a lot of pain today. can I take the oxycontin ? i took 2 tablets of 5/325 oxyco/acetam 3 hours ago ## Hello, Andrayan! How are you? You should be able to take it, as long as your doctor approves. It would best not to combine them, without checking with your doctor, due to the fact that you may risk an overdose, if the dose higher than what you usually take. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
