My generic Fioricet pill has LCI on one side and 1695 on the other. It is round and blue. Is this a good generic Fioricet pill? The price has increased greatly! For many years I only received a round white pill. I want to make sure my pharmacy is giving me a good quality generic Fioricet pill. ## Hello, Fran! How are you? All generics are good quality. They all have to meet the same quality and efficacy guidelines set by the U.S. FDA. There's really nothing to worry about with any generic you receive from your pharmacy. This medication may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, irritability and sedation. Is there anything else I can help with?

black and yellow capsule ## Macrodantin (Nitrofur Mac 50 mg)50 mg was prescribed by my urologist. My last presription given by the pharmacy was red and white. This pill is yellow and black with Watson 3250 inscribed on it. Was I dispensed the wrong dosage by the pharmacy this time? ## Yes, you did receive a different dosage, the one marked Watson 3250 is a 100mg capsule, not 50mg. If you are supposed to be on 50mgs, then you need to take that prescription back to your pharmacy and inform them of the error so they can provide you with the correct dosage.

Can I take a butal-asa-caff capsule (50/325/40) while taking buspirone? ## Hello, Paula! How are you? You can take them together, if your doctor has instructed you to do so, but the Buspirone may reduce the efficacy of the Butalbital. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and dry mouth. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Yes, is Lexapro a safe med for anxiety/depression?

for stress headaches and migraines ## Hello, Joe! How are you? I'm sorry, but this website does not manufacture, prescribe nor sell any medications or products. It is an information only resource. Did your doctor prescribe this medication? This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Hi, my name is kelly. My doctor told me to take butal for my headaches and when I looked it up it's saying it's not for headaches at all. It's for people who have add and other issues. ## Hello, Kelly! How are you? No, Butalbital is a barbiturate that is commonly combined with other medications, such as the Acetaminophen and Caffeine in this medication, to treat migraines and tension headaches. The name brand for it is Fioricet. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, insomnia and nervousness. I'm not sure what you were reading. Where did you look it up? ## I am surprised that nobody has mentioned Imitrex for migraines. I used it in the past, when I was having multiple migraines every week. i have been prescribed butalb-apap-caff 50-325-40 tab as part of an epilepsy seizure treatment. directions are take one tablet every 4 hrs as needed for pain but not more than 3 days in a row. can anyone explain the reason for taking not more than 3 days in a row? ## I can't speak for your doctor and their specific reasoning for it, but there are usually several reasons that these instructions may be included and I can inform you what some of those are. One reason would be the risk of it masking other serious symptoms, for instance, if you're taking so much of something to relieve pain that you're not realizing that your pain is getting a lot worse and requires another look by a medial professional. There are also other symptoms that may be masked, such as worsening seizures...

headaches ## are these narcotic ## are Fioricet 50-325-40 a narcotic ## I am wondering t he same thing have you found out yet ## There are 2 different variations of Fioricet that are available. The one asked about here that only lists the dosage of 3 medications does not contain a narcotic, it only contains Acetaminophen, Butalbital and Caffeine. Learn more Fioricet details here. The other is noted as being Fioricet with Codeine, it would list 4 dosage amounts, so it just adds the Codeine to the ingredients I've already listed. Learn more Codeine details here. Your prescription, or the bottle and monograph from the pharmacy should list exactly what it is that you have been prescribed. Are there any other questions? Anything else I can help with?

I broke my foot and I'm in severe pain. What I have is called a lisfranc fracture. I was on Tylenol threes and they didn't help and then I got hydrocodone 5 - 3 - 5 and they didn't help the last thing I tried was Oxycodone 5 325 and they still didn't really take the pain away. So I asked my doctor for something that would help the pain and he prescribed me Tramadol 50 mg. I am apprehensive to get it filled and try it because I'm not reading anything positive about it. Please help! What is the next thing I should ask for if Oxycodone 5 325 isn't helping with my pain? I don't like that it has so much Tylenol in it I would rather have something just for the pain that doesn't include Tylenol or Ibuprofen. Please advise if you can. thank you! ## While being a ...

Is it possible to overdose on this drug in a way that causes death? What are the symptoms? ## Hello, From what I can gather, this combination can potentially be fatal, but you would have to ingest a very significant amount. A serious overdose of butalbital and acetaminophen may result in toxicity. Toxicity due to caffeine is less likely, due to the fairly small amounts in this formulation. The symptoms of overdosing on these medications are as follows: Butalbital: toxicity from Barbituate poisoning may include confusion, drowsiness, and coma; respiratory depression; hypotension; and hypovolemic shock. Acetaminophen: dose-dependent, potentially fatal hepatic necrosis is the most serious adverse effect. Renal tubular necroses, hypoglycemic coma, and coagulation defects may also occur. Ear...

What is the maximum allowed dose per day? ## 50mg of Butalbital + 325 mg of Acetaminophen appears to be an average dose of this combination. The highest dose I have seen is 50mg of Butalbital + 750 mg of Acetaminophen. Below is dosage information I located based on the 50/325mg combination: 1 or 2 tablet(s), capsule(s), or tablespoonful(s) orally every 4 hours. Maximum daily dose: 6 doses. I was taking Lortab 10-325, went to my doc today and he gave me Lortab 10-500MG, what is the difference? Did I get a stronger pain pill or a weaker one?? ## The only difference is that one has 325 mg tylenol and the other one has 500 mg tylenol. The FDA made manufacturers not put more than 325 mg into the prescription combination medications effective Jan 2014.The FDA recently took steps to withdraw their approval for prescription medications that contain more than 325 mg tylenol. It won't be long before you won't be able to get any prescription drugs with more than 325 mg tylenol. Your dr may have just made a mistake. But, yo udo need to mention it to him when you see him again. Also effective Oct 6, 2014 Lortab will become a Schedule II medications and thee will be no refills,...

Is lortab 10 / 325 weaker than lortab 10 / 500 ## Hello, Jim! How are you? Yes and no, the amount of Acetaminophen in it is lower and the ones with the higher doses are no longer available. This medication was changed and all formulations that are now available can only contain a maximum of 325mgs of Acetaminophen per dose. However, the Acetaminophen augments the action of the narcotic for some people, so the one with the higher amount of it may work better for them, but it doesn't work that way for everyone, so for some people these might basically be equivalent, since they both contain 10mgs of the Hydrocodone. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, d...

I checked three pharmacies and none carry butalbital manufactured by westward. I am told it is on back order with no specific date. Is it discontinued? Also, I was given MIA110 as substitute but it doesn't work as well. Any reason why that would be? ## Hi Mary, According to Medscape, Butalbital has been discontinued. However, I don't know which manufacturer it's referring to and I have yet to come across any other specific details that support this claim. You could try contacting Westward Pharmaceuticals directly if you're looking to hear it straight from the source. Their Customer Service can be reached at: 1-800-631-2174 Regarding MIA 110, it does contain Acetaminophen + Butalbital + Caffeine in the same listed dosages as Westward 787. What is difference in ingredients between Hydrocodone and Vicodin? I am trying to find out what is stronger: Hydrocodone Acetaminophen 10 325 or are Vicodin 500 tablets stronger? ## Hi Viv, To answer your question I first need to explain that Vicodin actually contains both Hydrocodone and Acetaminophen as the active ingredients. So in your comparison, both drugs contain the same active ingredients, just in different doses. Hydrocodone Acetaminophen 10 325 is a generic for Norco containing Hydrocodone 10mg and Acetaminophen 325mg. Vicodin 500 contains Hydrocodone 5mg and Acetaminophen 500mg. So the generic Norco which you have contains twice as much Hydrocodone (the opioid ingredient) but less Acetaminophen than the Vicodin. I hope that this makes sense, and let me know if you need any m...
