Diphenhydramine Overview

Diphenhydramine (DPH, DHM) is a first-generation antihistamine mainly used to treat allergies. It is also used in the management of drug-induced parkinsonism and other extrapyramidal symptoms. The medication has a sedating effect and is FDA-approved as a nonprescription sleep aid. It possesses anticholinergic, antitussive, antiemetic, and sedative properties. Diphenhydramine was first synthesized by George Rieveschl and first made publicly available through prescription in 1946.[5] Diphenhydr...

I am concerned about the list of inactive ingredients listed on the bottle which I don't see listed in the drug store brand I usually buy. The inactive ingredients listed are: Benzoyl alcohol, butylparaben, d & c red 28, edible black ink, F d & c blue#1 and red #40, gelatin, lactose, magnesium stearate, methylparaben, polysorbate 80, propylparaben, and sodium laurel sulfate. ## Hello, Kathy! How are you? I understand your concern. However, there is a regularly updated list of acceptable inactive ingredients that the FDA classifies as being safe to use in medications, which ones a manufacturer decides to use is entirely up to them, but they cannot use anything that isn't on that list. While there is always a risk of someone having a reaction to one of them, or being aller...

small light blue sleeping pill in oval shape

What is the name of a small light blue sleeping pill shaped like an oval? ## Hi Christina, Are there any markings or imprints on this light blue pill you're describing? Zopiclone (7.5mg) is one sleeping pill I found that is oval and light blue with an engraving of "APO | 7.5" on one side and blank on the other. I also located an oblong shaped 25mg diphenhydramine tablet (bearing the letters SL on one side and blank on the other); used for insomnia. However there may be several other blue pills out there that fall under the category of sleep aids, so knowing a specific imprint can really help narrow down possibilities.

How many two take at a time for adult an swhT happen if you take 3 ## Hi Kelia, From what I could gather, this light blue oblong pill is an OTC antihistamine / sleep aid containing 25mgs of Diphenhydramine hydrochloride. Ref: Discuss/light-blue-oblong-pill-263-half-circle-and-line-183407.htm I don't know what would happen if you take 3, but personally I wouldn't advise taking anything more than what the directions state on the box; unless given the O-K through your doctor. If the recommended dose doesn't suffice, it may just be a good idea to look into other forms of antihistamines or sleep aids, depending on what you're using it for...

Round Little White Pill With Letter S
2 Replies RSS
i found a tiny little white pill with nothing but the letter S on it, what is it? ## Hi kristi, Is there by chance a letter "S" on each side of the pill, or is it just on one side? And if it is only on one side, is there a score line on the other side? - This appears to be the deciding factor between the two possible matches I have come across. If there is a letter "S" on each side of the pill then the round white pill is a 25mg Sominex sleep aid pill; the active ingredient being Diphenhydramine. If there is an "S" on only one side with a score line on the other, then the pill is more than likely a 50mg Serophene tablet. Serophene is a fertility drug used to increase the chance of getting pregnant. It is used to help women ovulate (produce a mature egg) properly ...
