I was prescribed hydrocodone/acetaminophen 5-325 TB for back pain. I ran out so I took a oxycodone 10mg for the pain. Today is the 11th of April and I have to go in and see my Dr. on the 14th of April. If he tests my urine what will the outcome be? Will it just show for opiates or will a Dr.'s office urine test be more of a specific test? I have a feeling he's going to test my system because after all he did prescribe me the hydrocodone.

Yes your right, with today's online access. Thru my pain clinic I can view my doc appts and labs, etc on my online profile thru the pain clinic. And my drug test are also available to view. They test for the norm, cocaine, marijuana, etc but I also seen a separate box for oxycodone and also a box for opiates. The weird thing is, I came up negative for oxycodone and positive for opiates. Which I was taking both. So I'm not sure why I showed negative for oxycodone. But yes they do check for separate drugs.

Thats only because after takeing norcos for a long period of time it builds a wall which will test postive for oxy but it is not i think its morphobe or something like that just let them now ur prescribed norcos and have been takeing them awhile to test it further for oxys cause u havent taken them i just went thru this

Idk for sure. But I can pretty much guarantee your PM Dr wants to know if you took something other than what's prescribed. So yes, oxycodone and hydrocodone are gonna show separately. They have so many regulations on them. My Dr always asks what I took in the last 24 hours before the test. I'm always honest with the doc I see, but not the nurse asking. One time I had some marijuana about a week before and on a regular basis and my test came back negative. 3 strikes you're out but crisis averted. Idk how but the tests are most def flawed.

That's not true at all. I see a pain management doctor and I'm prescribed oxycodone. I ran out and was going through WD so i took some hydrocodone and thought the same thing until i got busted on my drug test. You shouldn't be giving people false information. It's 2 totally different drugs that have a different chemical makeup.

I am only going to answer this for what I absolutely know to be 100% accurate. Without leaving this page and googleing around a little I am not absolutely positive it will show up the same, it really depends on what type drugs they are testing for. Most dr. offices' and pain clinics are not searching for the exact drug, that would be much, much to expensive. They are only checking for a class of drugs such as benzos for example ie: xannax, valium, lorazapine, for example. Now wgetting back to your question, I know for certain that hydrocodone contains codiene, and oxycodone contains just what the name itself is. So you should google search if codiene and oxycodone will show results as the same or not. I think you should be ok, but am without sufficient knowledge whether to admit, or deny the correct answer. Continue checking and and hopefully you will find out. GOOD LUCK

I took a preemployment urine drug screen monday 8-11-2014. The on-the-spot test tested for opiates and oxycodone and I came back positive for Oxycodone but I'm prescribed Hydrocodone (norco). I haven't taken any Oxycodone and I'm about to pull my hair out over this as my livelihood hangs in the balance. I've done a lot of research on this and have come to find that this false positive happens more often than not. So as I sit here waiting on a call from the MRO I guess I'm looking for a little reassurance. Thank you in advance

If your doctor tests for hydrocodone and oxycodone separately, you will show positive for both oxy and hydro. However, if the doctor is only testing you for opiates, it's going to likely be positive because sometimes hydro and oxy both show up as a positive for opiates. Recently, I took a drug test and came up positive for oxycodone. However, I have a prescription for hydrocodone, so my results had to be sent to the lab. The lab came back with hydrocodone, not oxycodone. So, my best answer for you is yes, they will both show up if your doctor is testing for both.
