I really depends on the pain management doctor, however, if you are seeing one, you will most likely have to sign a treatment contract, which will lay out the specifics for you.
Some of them require that you not take pain medications from any other doctor for any reason, some require regular sampling to prove you're taking medications as prescribed. Any violation could result in your being dismissed, without notice.

In addition to not allowing another dr to rx you meds for pain and random or routine drug panels they may also have pill counts. They will call you and give you a few hrs to get to the office with your meds, If you're missing more than you should be from when it was filled until your last does, that could also be grounds for dismissal. Early refills, lost and stolen meds can also be grounds. Pain Contracts you sign with a Pain Management Dr have the things written out.
