I have an infected large bump on my calf. What is the extensive list of side effects for this medication?

I was diagnosed with MRSA 10 days ago and I've been taking this medication to clear it up. I've been on it for 10 days this is my last day. I have pretty much all of the side effects from Headache to not being able to sleep because of the itching and the chills. Tomorrow is my last day to take it. I'm not sure what to do??

I HAVE BEEN TAKING SULFAMETH/TRIMEPHOPRIM 800/160 TABS.....I HAVE BEEN HAVING A LOT OF THE SYMPTOMS SUCH AS HEADACHES, CHILLS, SHAKING, SHORTNESS OF BREATH, PAIN ON MY LEGS AND ARMS. YESTEREDAY I WOKE UP WITH SOME PUMPS ON MY HEAD AND THUS THE REASON FOR MY LOOKING UP THE SIDE EFFECTS. I ALSO LOST 5LBS WHILE TAKING THE MEDICATION SINCE I WAS NEVER HUNGRY. 1 WEEK AFTER TAKING THE PILL 2 A DAY, I WENT BACK TO THE DR BECAUSE OF SOME OF OF THE SIDE EFFECTS I WAS HAVING. SHE INSTRUCTED ME TAKE HALF A PILL INSTEAD OF THE WHOLE PILL BUT STILL HAD TO TAKE IT TWICE PER DAY. LOOKS LIKE IM HEADING BACK TO THE DR DUE TO HAVING THE PUMPS ON MY HEAD IS THIS VERY SERIOUS?

i just got prescribed sulfamethox/800/160 ds tablet for my urinary tract infection, i am starting to get a headache, the doctor told me to take 1 tablet by mouth twice a day for 3 days, is that too much?

Natalie, from my experience below, i would say that is a bit too much... I stopped taking it due a lot of the side effects, althought most of them went away when I cut the doze in half the headaches continued,

Man I'm glad other people commented on this medication (thank you) this is the worst med I've ever taken I also feel like I'm high in a bad way...like chills, can't sleep, headache, stomach pains, jitters, nausea, it just feels gross, and did I meantion I can't freaking sleep..I'm not taking anymore as of these effects starting..I read the cautions etc. that came with the med but I can't see my reg doc for 2 days or urgent care till tomorrow...screw this med.

I took 2 800/160 tabs a day for nearly 4 weeks for a bacterial infection in my leg. Cleared up the infection, but within 4 hours of taking the first pill, I was hit with a bad case of depression. But I think the anti-depressent I was already on helped take the edge off :-). The first two nighs were the worst, and eventually I was just a very cranky and aggravated person.
Yesterday was my first day off, and I think coming off of it I got the diarrhea and confusion. Glad to be done with the infection as well as the drug!

I was put on this for a UTI, and didn't notice much until the 7th day, when I developed serious joint pain and fever of 101.4. Blurry vision and no appetite and chills --- feels like influenze, which is weird in July. There are a few pills left but I am finished with this stuff. My temp started rising again this AM when I took it before I thought to check side effects.

well i have a UTI and was perscribed 800/160 1 pill twice daily for 10 days. but now that ive read all the bad comments idk if i even want to take it. oh and i'm also allergic to cephalosporin which is one of the other medicines they would of perscribed me. Should i take it?

I am taking this medicine and i was wandering if it was safe to go to the dentist . I also have the hot flash feeling and naciousness, dizzyness,shaking feeling.

I have been taking this med now for 3 days for UTI. On the third morning I woke up with my eyes swollen, skin rash, not to mention that I feel very uncomfortably warm at night. I took two Benadryl to help with these symptoms, don't know it its working yet, but will stop taking med until I see my doctor in two days.

I took my 5 yr old to the ER two nights ago and he was diagnosed with Staph. He was diagnosed with S/T 800/160 2 pills 2 times a day. Since starting this med, he has constantly complained with his stomach hurting really bad. All he does is lay around. He has threw up twice today so far. He is only 5 yrs. old so is taking 2 pills 2 times a day too much?

well i started this medicine last friday and its been hell since. i have headaches,cant sleep, legs,arms,lowerback pain and nauseated bad and i have really loss my appettite. all the information everyone has left has been so helpful . i was told i had a kidney infection and i have never been given this before for a uti. its awlful . i stopped taking it today and i plan to let my doctor know on monday. ive threw up a few times . ive got other things for nausea and they dont stop it . i would advise u to really do some research before u take it . i went to the emergency room cause i was feeling so bad and now im still feeling bad some days are worse than others .i dont have the enegery to do anything all i want to do is lay around and thats not me . hope this helps everyone

Why would anyone prescribe this drug?? The first day I took this, I started shaking like I was on speed. The second day, I woke up and the room started spinning. I was dizzy, nauseous (I threw up) and felt like I was going to faint constantly. My body was cold and my head was hot. And don't even think about going outside on this stuff in Texas heat--I almost passed out. The day I stopped taking it, I had a headache worse than any hangover I had ever felt, along with fever and chills. The headache got a bit better when I took an allergy pill. I have been off of it for two days now and still feel stoned, like I'm walking through water AND hungover, and I am SO HOT, even in air conditioning. Last night I could not sleep at all. My physician said I could either take this medicine or that I could drive to a pharmacy to pick up another kind. I asked if there was a difference between the two, and she said no. Those extreme side effects would have been nice to know beforehand...

I've been on Sulfameth/Trimethoprim for almost two weeks, I have 3 pills left. I was on the medication for a secondary skin infection, prescribed by my dermatologist. There is some side effects that I am not worried about such as the drowsiness, restless sleeping, for I know they are common. But, I am a few days late for my period, and have lower abdominal pains as well as bloating and sometimes upper abdominal pains and back pains, sometimes after I eat. Could this medication cause me being late for my period? I also have clear discharge sometimes when I use the restroom, which is normal, but it's a little bit more than I'm use to. The last month I just moved in with two new girls in an apartment and my sleep schedule got really messed up, so I understand they could be the cause, but I am getting a little bit worried.

I've been taking the sulfameth for 7 days now for mrsa. i've been have a lot of throat pain, and when I swallow it hurts.i've been sleeping alot, feeling like i have the flu. I took this a month ago twice for mrsa, i'm wondering if its not working or if i should stop taking it because its making me feel worse. i told my doctor last time this happened and he took me off of it and said i would be ok since the infection cleared up. well now the mrsa is back and i'm wondering if sulfameth is not working for me? i'm waiting for the doctors office to call back, but i was wondering if anyone has had mrsa before? and if so what did you take for it?

I started taking the 800mg BID 3 days ago due to an infected hair follicle under my arm. I didn't experience any side effects besides I am not eating as much as I generally do nor am I hungry. However, today I was in class and out of no where I started getting extremely hot. I got home an hour later and was having a sever headache (I never get) and still was experiencing hot flashes. I took a nap because my head to was throbbing even after I took an ibprophen and when I woke up 2hrs later my head still hurt. I took my temperature and it was normal at 98.4. I hope the side effect will subside seeing as I have 4 more days left.
